Today I will share a really sad story. Young couple lives here. Husband’s grandmother died 2 years ago, this couple moved in this 3 floor house. Unfortunately the house is amazing old. I think that, the grandmother couldn’t call anybody to repair or fix things in the house. The bathroom is in a totally bad condition. Water isn’t drain…. They can’t use the toilet and the sink. When they taking a shower, I believe they are starting in the water because isn’t drain either…. That’s why that bathtub was covered with mold everywhere. I don’t feel that, they was 100% honest with me. When I ask them about things the was looking each other… I’m not mad at all! I’m just disappointed! When the young girl sent the picture for me, I totally believe in that I can clean this bathroom and kitchen well. I got 3 pictures. From the bathroom, the bathtub and front the sink in the kitchen. I know myself. I know my board. Couple of months ago, I cleaned a really moldy and neglected bathroom already. And that bathroom looks amazing now. • FREE MOLDY BATHROOM CL... But here…. Cleaning isn’t enough anymore. They need to understand they need a renovation. But I know, that’s a lot of money. Especially when you own and old 3 floors house. The wife told me, they can’t use the top floor at all…. She told me that too, day before I came they worked a lot in the kitchen because there was a mess, and the all kitchen was declutter! I did as much as possible. In this condition I don’t think a could help for this poor young couple more. I feel sad, disappointed and frustrated. I feel bad, because I gave them a hope, I will help them. Bad thing, they didn’t tell me the truth about this house and the conditions.

Beyond housekeeping and organizing. It's a job for dumpster haul and gut remodel at this point. Amazing effort you put into it.
This house should be condemned. I understand that a lot of people can't afford any better but this is substandard living and very sad. You did better than most would have even tried so don't be so hard on yourself!

Is there a problem with the structure of the building? I don't see a reason in this video to legally condemn this apartment.
This property was beyond cleaning.
I think the owners dishonesty was to try and save them money on trades to come in and fix all the problems.

I would advise you wear a mask in conditions like that. Also maybe considering wearing a disposable boiler suit you can just take off and put in the bin. You worked very hard on this one. Well done.

Sad to see a house in such bad shape. If you don't keep up with repairs they can get away from you. Just two years ago I gutted the bathroom and rebuilt it. Much of it was from the 1950's other than a vanity from the 70's. This summer the kitchen gets new floor tile and a new butcher block counter top. I budget $1000 a year for home fix up. Even the organizing of the hobby room today has an expense of $70 for new storage boxes and replacement boxes. Keep the videos coming , next is finishing the sunroom organizing!

At some points in the video it looked like it hadn't been lived in for years. Remindes me of my mother in laws house. We didn't know how bad the condition was until we removed all her layers of stuff. In the end it was a complete gut job. You did an amazing job on that kitchen sink!!

I applaud you for taking on this project. You did an amazing job! However, if someone like you offers to clean a home for free, at the very least they should be honest about the conditions, even if that might be embarrassing. It may make a big difference in the type of products you take with you, or how much time you schedule.
You are right. If she tells me at the beginning the water is not floating down, than I would have bought it a cleaner. But unfortunately that whole house is old and cleaning is not really a help there:(

I give you all the credit that you deserve. A couple helpful hints. A microwaveable dish filled with water for the microwave. Let it boil inside it. Then wipe clean. Easy. Also, after the baking powder and vinegar, follow with boiling water. For the drains. But, what you were dealing with at this home….. A gut job.

I was also going to say boiling water, but the fact that it’s all three drains probably means it needs a plumber.😢
This is extremely sad, so sorry you did what you could. They need help that you can’t unfortunately give. I pray someone can help them find better living arrangements.

Just viewed this video. This home needed much more than cleaning. The owners should have disclosed the plumbing issues that obviously would prevent proper cleaning. Your faithful viewers and supporters would never blame you for a lack of "pretty"results under such conditions. We watched you work so hard. We saw some improvements. You did better than most of us by being willing to walk through the door. Your did your best and we're proud of you.
You can tell by the curtains in kitchen, the little wooden pegs for hanging cooking utensils by stove, pretty wall paper and other things left in place, this was once a beautiful loved family home. Wish this family God's help and miracles and love in their hearts forever. I hope this couple can restore and make it a loved home again. 😢 🙏 ❤ ty Barbie, you left this home better than you found it and tried your best under the circumstances of plumbing not working.
They have made no effort to try and clean this house, I don't sugarcoat things yes it is in disrepair but that doesn't mean don't clean it. 😠 well done Barbie I hope you told them straight. 🌹
Maybe the owners were depressed, had anxiety or were going through another kind of trauma and were unable to see a way out or had the energy to do it.
It occurred to me that humans will live in conditions that animals would never live in. Birds keep nests clean, the dens of wolves, bears, etc are kept clean by that animal. Only humans would live in this type of filth.
@@KatsdontcareI have a cat that likes to sleep in his litter box. Huge clean home. He is just a dirty cat, and cats are supposed to be clean. Variations exist I think in every species.
I had no idea that your cat enjoyed sleeping in his dirty litter box. That certainly makes me doubt my previous statement.

This place is something of a time capsule. The tiling, that toilet, and both of the sinks might be a hundred years old!

I haven't seen kitchen counters with the aluminum edging the linoleum that was put on top of the counters since the 1950's. This was a popular countertop since the 1940's. I really believe that this kitchen is that old. The tile backsplash was, of course, added later (60' - 70's). This was a thankless job since all you had to work with was ancient cabinetry. The covering on the kitchen cabinets is Contact Paper - almost impossible to get off when it is this old. Always, your work is awesome. Thank You for being you.

I don't think it would be worthwhile for Barbie to tackle this horror house. The bathroom is so despicable it should be dismembered, down to the filthy ceramic floor. (notice the plastic mat she lifted from the tub? Jeezaloo!!!) If there's a sliver of kindness from the homeowner, she could do a service by giving Barbie a substantial amount of money for the worthwhile effort she put into getting her house cleaned, IF she manages to accomplish it. I'm not patronizing the owner, but this task undoubtedly is the worst appointment our angel had to master on her own, the poor thing.
This place needs to be gutted and started from scratch. It’s been neglected too long. You did a fantastic job with what you had to deal with.

I just finished a free home cleaning for a disabled senior. Spent my own money on drain unclogging products and nothing worked over 3 days. Literally poured money down the drain! Worth a try to help a friend, but cleaners aren't plumbers.

The sink that doesn't drain might be sometimes caused by just the clogged siphon (the S or L shaped pipe under the sink). I like to unscrew it (you have to remember the order where each piece goes), clean it from muck, grease, hair, and reattach, making sure I did it properly so it doesn't leak. It's most satisfactory, I must say.
I reckon this is beyond that. They need a plumber. The pipes are probably corroded. Pull it down and build something new.
When the sink, tub AND toilet don't work, there's probably a problem in a common sewer line. Also, it looks like a smoker lived here. Walls and ceilings are yellowed. I hope this isn't a rental. What a slum.
My experience is, that L shapes siphons get clogged all the time and you can not use a plunger. I had to open that damn siphon every couple of months. The positive thing about it is, that all that stuff will not go into the pipes in the walls but I will never use this type of siphon again.
I would also recommend to first open an clean the siphon, if it's still clogged use a drain chemical, if it's still clogged or slow you need a professional. And always open the window when you work with all type of cleaners.

To get the stains out of the sink, bathtub, etc. Lay paper towels down inside the sink and spray with undiluted bleach. You'll be surprised at how white the porcelain gets. Let it soak for awhile. You do an amazing job!!!
I did that with shower tile grout. Looked like new.

You did a great job with what you had to work with there, so you should in no way feel like you failed at all. Running water and working drains are a basic necessity to a cleaning project. I've read the other suggestion about loosening the plumbing pipe to remove debris, but I think in a case like this I would not risk that as everything is so deteriorated. What I have found works on drains like that is some type of snaking device. You can get a cheapy one at some dollar stores, but I use something that is actually a cat toy called a "cat dancer" which is a long wire with a tiny bit of rolled paper at the end. It's flexible and can be eased down a drain and the end piece will catch on debris and bring it up. Judging from the amount of buildup on the outside of the sink and bathtub, it might just be a blockage problem.

I hate seeing a house that has basically been destroyed by years of neglect.
I feel so sad, there are people that no matter what you give them, they will destroy.
I have a family member like this, you can give him a pot of gold, a palace... His neglect and lack of higiene will destroy it. It is not depression, It is something else and IDK what it is.
Like you, I try very hard not to be judgmental but rather to offer my help when I can. Bless you for doing this one as no one should have to live in such an unhealthy environment, so sad

I know you're not trying to add another job to all that you already do, but I keep a bottle of Crystal Lye Drain Opener in my cleaning "belt", just in case I run into any slow or blocked drains. It opens them up SO fast!

Le is very powerful. Be careful. It can explode in your face. Follow the instructions. Lye will burn your skin. Be careful for your eyes and skin. It can actually burn the seals of the pipe if used often.

I havent watched the video yet, but 5 years ago, I was suffering from post natal depression and had two undiagnosed conditions. My house waa extremely messy and dirty. Including our large 6 car garage.to top it all off, all of my 10 kids were taken off me because of the state of the house.
Fast forward 5 years, i have 6 of my kids back, got rid of 12 double axle trailer loads of junk, 4 3ft bins worth of junk and several binloads and my house is spotless. Save for a minor amoount left and a good clean is needed.
All i wanted was a friend who would help me out of the pit without judgement. I was too embarrassed to even open the door and ashamed. If i had gotten the help, i would probably still have all my kids. (The oldest 3 are now adults)
I have now been diagnosed with adhd and a mild form of autism. And im feeling much better. I actually really enjoyed the major decluttering of my house and im still going.
Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for helping people without judgement. You are a tremendous blessing. One i wished i had 5 years ago.
No matter the condition of the home when you live there, it is going to be YOUR home, so you do what it takes to make it a home that is livable, if only by keeping it clean.
Yeah it's sad to see a home in such condition. I hope what you gave them would be enough for them to begin doing a make-over. I think it's a good home but old - can't do anything about it but renovate .🤷♀️

I really love to use dish soap to clean with. It works super well to remove grease without the scrubbing. I just spread it around and let it sit for 5 mins then scrub it. I also recommend soft scrub. Also I recommend getting a pumice stone you can use it to remove toilet bowl stains and stink stains! Btw you’re amazing and so kind!♥️

This is what happened when your not maintain cleaning the house it will slowly damage pieces by piece and it will cost you even more. I don't want to just people living like this but really what in life that you cannot clean even just 30 mins in a day? Doing house chores is a basic life skills.
We ended up living in an old family hoarder home- my husband's childhood home. Very extreme. Still have areas of neglect but that's where he chooses to live. Am elderly and had to move into my own place. I recognize the wall covering in the kitchen ☺️
You did the best you could -- that was a monumental job that needed more than one person to do all the work. The whole place needs to be renovated or torn down and start all over!

Oven cleaner, covered with plastic wrap and left to sit for an hour or so will do wonders on most really dirty surfaces. Beats doing all that scrubbing.

Something tells me based on the hair in the sink at the beginning, that the plumber finds lots of wads of hair in those drains. Seems like an easy fix, pull the elbow joints out and use a pipe snake to clean it and use the pipe snake in the tub. Pretty common issue.
Underneath the sink where it curves you can sometimes loosen up the gasket around it and remove it to empty out anything clogging the sink. Can’t help you on the tub though.

Oh wow, this place needs stripping out, taken back to bare walls and completely starting from scratch. There are some nice features like the sink and those kitchen cupboards are super cute and kitsch but need a lot of TLC. Well done for even attempting to clean this.

You could have used one of those flimsy white coat hangers and fished the hair out of the bath drains, also liquid plumber is gentile enough to help clear some drains.

Sometimes the vent pipe on roof gets clogged with debris, if they can run a hose and long metal snake perhaps water can go down. Sometimes the pipe right under sink can be removed and unclogged. Try liquid draino or separately liquid lye.... If they could patch roof with roof tar, platic mesh, then roof tar...keep a roof on and patched and house can stand for years. Windows can be repaired. Beautiful old house that needs alot for sure. The most expensive I see would be old wiring and plumbing. It can be done. God be with them and you for trying to help... don't feel so bad, you are right about the repairs... you made a huge improvement with the time you had and also let them know things do need fixed... p.s. Sometimes the septic needs pumped too... about the vent pipe on roof, if there an elbow to remove and clean out, try it, or replumb a new one... prayers... ❤
