This is a song that I remember from my teenage years. Now it’s giving me new hope as I’m going through a very rough time in my life and I’m struggling with the dark demons of depression
I read many comments about how this band is extremely underrated, and it is true, but never forget that many extremely famous rock musicians were inspired by BOC and recognize them as one of the best rock ‘n roll bands to ever roam this planet.
Yes,seen them in 98 just weeks after I turned twenty, saw them again in 03,2012 and 2015 they are number one on my top five favorite concert attendances with Santana being number two,Trans Siberian Orchestra number three, Robby Krieger number four and Ted Nugent number five.
I'm 65 years old and have been to at least 15 blue oyster cult concerts. The first time was in my high school graduation party. I saw them in 1989 with black Sabbath the cult played first they played (The last days of May) for the encore!!!! Then Ozzy came out and Sabbath bloody Sabbath.... The crowd bood them off the stage!!!!!! The cult came out and played another show!!!! I saw them in Baltimore with Uriah heep and stepenwolf... That's right... ROCK & ROLL.....
A little Blue Oyster Cult tidbit Back in the 70’s BOC would play small club shows on Long Island using the name Soft White Under Belly if I remember correctly! I’m from Long Island and saw them as Soft White Under Belly somewhere in Suffolk County NY for the life of me I can’t remember where due to a hit of 4 way windowpane acid, And I went all four ways!! Ha Ha The Best of Times
I whole heartedly agree - best version of this great song. And the lyrics attach to Time, Space, Life, Death, Love. What a metaphysical, existential masterpiece. And saw them live in about 1972 at a small auditorium at the Univ of Tennessee. Who knew what was going to follow.
If there was a text book stating how a band should perform and how a lead guitar solo should sound ( beginning around 4:40 ) then this is it….Chapter 1. Amazing!
Omgggggg....l wish l could've been there!!!!!!!.....what a great times & video! And song that will always be one of the best....For that and more...this is why l say: live your life...like if you are going to die the next hour!!!... Cause you never know when the Reaper will come to knock on your door!!!!????... ✌ ☮ ✌
No matter how many times i listen to that solo , just gotta here it one more time . Like a cook in a kitchen , recipe for success , full of flavor . Think we all lived off the 3 chord combo meals back in the day . Foundation of the greatest rock tunes ever made . Still wrestling on whether D C G or Am G F holds top spot ? So many outstanding compositions created from both . Today i go with the latter
When i first sat down and decided to learn this song i didnt realize just how ecotic the scales are . I started playing along and i had to stop and really listen close to figure it out . This song like this band is very underrated . I saw them in Tampa Fl . on halloween night playing in the street . I was standing no more than 10 feet away . It was killer . Great song .Great band .
Around this time, I saw them perform at Buffalo Bills Casino in Primm NV just outside of Las Vegas. Awesome concert, mediocre venue. Love this band. Timeless song. This and Burning for You.
All our times have come Here but now they're gone Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain We can be like they are Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper) Baby, take my hand (don't fear the reaper) We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper) Baby, I'm your man La, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la Valentine is done Here but now they're gone Romeo and Juliet Are together in eternity (Romeo and Juliet) 40, 000 men and women everyday (like Romeo and Juliet) 40, 000 men and women everyday (redefine happiness) Another 40, 000 coming everyday (we can be like they are) Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper) Baby, take my hand (don't fear the reaper) We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper) Baby, I'm your man La, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la Love of two is one Here but now they're gone Came the last night of sadness And it was clear she couldn't go on Then the door was open and the wind appeared The candles blew and then disappeared The curtains flew and then he appeared Saying don't be afraid Come on, baby (and she had no fear) And she ran to him (then they started to fly) They looked backward and said goodbye (she had become like they are) She had taken his hand (she had become like they are) Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper)
Wow, this might be my favorite performance- love watching the versions throughout the years - my God this one has crazy energy to it! Double metronomes, time ticking away - wish I could share this reaction with Chucky Tester - miss you man!
I heard a critic say that greater commercial success eluded them because they didn't have a distinctive vocalist. Every one of them sang lead vocals on one song or another.
Reaper is either cheerful goth girl or tall skeleton which speaks like lead slabs were dropped to marble floor that mortals hear as deep, charismatic voice of Sir Christopher Lee. In both cases they provide necessary service.
It is criminal that this awesome kick ass band is so highly underrated.
just like ted nugent
I read that they have sold about 40 million records..
@@butch907 fuck ted nugent
I WAS FIRST TO BUY ALBUM EVERYONE ELES WAS BLACK SABBATH AND LED ZEPPLIN
It’s not underrated
This song could never get old. One of the best songs ever made!!

One of the most underrated guitarists ever....👍
Buck is the best of the best.
Fact

Truth!
I’m always amazed by that guitar every time I hear it. It has a totally unpredictable melodic progression and sounds like absolutely nothing else.
Some songs are timeless and this is one for sure
Everybody from 30 to 90 knows this song, at least. What you say, timeless.👌👌😎😎
Fantástic Band Totally Criminally Underrated!!!
This song was written about being diagnosed with a heart defect and not being afraid of the future. It was not written about depression nor suicide.
Hit the charts the week my mother died. Ultimate timing. Not a sad memory. She wasn't afraid either
And it Rocks ❤
Blue Oyster Cult 4 Eva ❤
Que puta maravilla!!!🎉❤
This is a song that I remember from my teenage years. Now it’s giving me new hope as I’m going through a very rough time in my life and I’m struggling with the dark demons of depression
Me too 😊
Hang in there brother. Remember this:
Nothing lasts forever! This is just temporary! It means better things are coming into your life. ✌️
Talk about facing mortality this said it all but if you're good Don't fear the reaper peace ✌ out
The outro solo was absolute fire!! Holy shit!!
💯!!!!!

This will forever be my all time favorite song...❤
It's one of mine, too!
Gotta say, I'd love some more cowbell in this version
I never get tired of listening to this song. To only turn the volume up when I can.
Most recognizable riff ever.
Best rock song of all time and best live version I've heard. Well done!
Could use a little more cowbell
Agreed! I wish it was available on iTunes
no
One of the first bands I ever saw with Three Dog Night and ELO and War .. thanks dad
70s rocked
Has to be the best live performance I've ever heard...of the best song ever... in my entire life.
Ditto , yip it's so good it's on another level
Wow from 1975 and it's still fantastic !
This band live is one of the greatest experiences...ever !
Agreed I saw them live in 1983

Just like your 500th homerun
Damn go boy killer guitar playing.. long live the 70s… Godspeed
"Come on baby"
(don't fear the reaper)
baby take my hand
(don't fear the reaper)
we'll be able to fly
(don't fear reaper)
baby I'm your man"
That was perfection at it's perfect perfectioness...... Almost a religious experience.
well, it _is_ a cult
Needs more cowbell.
@@kunou126 Wow! No one's ever said THAT before. 🙄
@@tanyadenlinger3736 I might have stated the obvious... but do you disagree?
@kunou126 When I've read about 25 other people make the same comment?
Who came here for more COWBELL?
No I just like the song
Literally no one. It’s a great song and that sketch has sadly tainted it.
Albeit 4 years later, it appears that I've gone down the same BOC cover song rabbit hole as the OP. I keep running across this same comment.
I came from the skit short.
No, it’s a good song; fuck that skit
This is an alltime masterpiece by Buck & Co loved it since it came out and it never gets old
A song that will never die its here for ever
Such an iconic intro and riff.
WHAT A GUITARRIST FOR GOD'S SAKE... Thanks for sharing... This is just beautiful....

Correct! And that was their name when it was just Roeser, Albert Bouchard, and Allen Lanier I think.
Played at my uncle's funeral :(
What a fantastic bloody band, song. 😉
That damn Buck Dharma is so damn good he makes his complicated guitar playing look easy .
And, one of the best American bands ever: smart and rock-and-roll at it's best!!!
I got don't fear the reaper tattooed on me I love this song .

every time (decades now) I get the urge to hear this epic sound - blows me away more and more...
Buck Dharma certainly nailed it this night.
The lead guitar here is Moe
"I have a fever, and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL!"
One of my favorite songs of all time. This song has so much meaning to me.
I'm not a fan and don't like much else of their music but this brings tears to my eyes everytime.

This is sublime. The very best ever!
That guitar tone...! Buck is beyond reproach. He is one and only.
I saw them do this live last week. It was amazing and the best thing I’ve ever heard
I saw them do it live in 1979.
And in 1983. And in 1985!
This song made the movie Cold Pursuit
One of the best songs ever it puts me in a happy moment 😊
More than a moment it's awesome the way it makes me feel

Yeah, gotta go with Am G F G, rinse and repeat.
These guys have given this song to us all. I thank them. it is in my lifes' soundscape.
superb guitar technique, true natural and gifted musician.
I view buck as the person that was my dad that I never knew. He was busy out on the road making money for us. Long live Buck Dharma!!!
Around this time, I saw them perform at Buffalo Bills Casino in Primm NV just outside of Las Vegas. Awesome concert, mediocre venue. Love this band. Timeless song. This and Burning for You.
This song always takes me back to my senior year in high school. Though this performance was many years later, they still delivered. Big time.
The distortion is off the charts!
Excellent I some times am afraid of dieing but this song makes it go away 😊
This song sounds awesome live…wow
It's so cool to watch them in the 1976 version on here then seeing this 1, how Buck Dharma's eye movements & mannerisms are the exact same.
they sound awesome live just as good as recorded!definitely underated!
this is it ! just what i wanted to hear today thank you ,,,,god bless all
This is one of the better live versions I've heard, but none have ever come close to the restraint and smoothness of the studio version.
The live version off of "Some Enchanted Evening" is worth checking out.
Hey Carlito, I thought you liked the uptown disco?
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
We can be like they are
Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper)
Baby, take my hand (don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)
Baby, I'm your man
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity (Romeo and Juliet)
40, 000 men and women everyday (like Romeo and Juliet)
40, 000 men and women everyday (redefine happiness)
Another 40, 000 coming everyday (we can be like they are)
Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper)
Baby, take my hand (don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)
Baby, I'm your man
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
Saying don't be afraid
Come on, baby (and she had no fear)
And she ran to him (then they started to fly)
They looked backward and said goodbye (she had become like they are)
She had taken his hand (she had become like they are)
Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper)
Going to see these guys in two weeks. This has me pumped!
Wow, this might be my favorite performance- love watching the versions throughout the years - my God this one has crazy energy to it! Double metronomes, time ticking away - wish I could share this reaction with Chucky Tester - miss you man!
It’s incredible. You cannot add nor take away anything that would improve its greatness,
Good lord. if there's a better guitar player than that on the planet then fair play to him 👍 unreal
Their 60'sesque harmonies mix so well with their metal sound
I heard a critic say that greater commercial success eluded them because they didn't have a distinctive vocalist. Every one of them sang lead vocals on one song or another.
When i here this song wow
The lyrics and how they offset them just makes this song so much more haunting.
Always loved this song, and still love it at 76, but now the Reaper may be catching up with me 😅
It will catch us all.
Godspeed ❤

Just great
❤ love this
I'm a musician, and when I was younger people used to tell me I looked like Buck Dharma. So, naturally, he's always been my favorite as is B.O.C.
They still have it; even the newer members rock.
Can't get it out of my head!
Excellent!
I love this song!!!!
I believe this what virtuosos refer to as "putting on a guitar clinic."
Heard the intro to this song on 1899 on Netflix. What a epic song and band.
Wow that was wild! This is the first time I’ve seen them perform on stage. Great guitar playing.
That’s buck dharma, lead singer and songwriter for the band as well as lead guitarist
💯!!!!
He didnt even have to rip...the song was perfect already
