- In today's video, we're kicking off an exciting new chapter as I embark on a motorcycle ride into the Arctic Circle. Our first stop? A very spooky campsite just outside of Oxford before venturing on to France. And how are we getting there? By taking my trusty motorcycle aboard the famous Leshuttle train that travels beneath the English Channel.

I do have a trickle charger, it's just very bizarre, the battery died after 2 weeks, nothing was plugged in either!

I'd probably carry a battery booster most double as a USB battery bank. Fuses, unless blown, wouldn't affect things charging. If they pop, it's normally for a reason. Be careful, swapping them out for larger values as you could overload that circuit and damage the wiring or connectors.
I previously had a motorcycle battery with a built in jump start which was fabulous, but I think I'm certainly going to have to look into getting a jump start battery now I have multiple bikes
Im fairly sure you are home and safe by now but either way have a safe trip! P.S a lot of the camp grounds in Norway have wee huts in them where you can get a night in a bed from time to time ☺

I hope you have a good sleeping bag. I spent last weekend on trails near Lillehammer and night temps were already around 0C.
To be fair, my sleeping bag is quite good, I got it from mountain warehouse in the sale, and I usually use it with a long hot water bottle, I think it's rated for minus 5 or minus 7

Nope, it was the announcement that I was going traveling for a while!
The campsite guy / warden was really good meeting you on the later arrival .
I didn't even just arrive late at night, I was a whole 24 hours late, he was under no obligation to honour my booking but did so anyway. Honestly, I got such a good vibe from the owners. They're farm owners who basically rent the field out for a bit of extra income. The amenities are very basic but it's more akin to traditional camping I think. No showers onsite and they use a compost loo but there were a lot of young children and families playing happily in the grass and eating breakfast together. I really liked it, and I'd recommend it as a fab place to "wild camp without wild camping"

You are incredible - and a philosopher I see - Im watching for a little while - I love the way you narrate - very philosophical ! I want to know more of your academic back ground please !
( btw: Run a Hot / Red wire from the battery to a metal bolt that is mounted on a plastic side panel, and keep it covered with a rubber like nipple until needed. When your batter dies,, just remove the nipple and connect a positive lead to the bolt, while not touching any other metal as the bolt is mounted in plastic, and then take the negative lead to attach to your bikes frame. Now you will not have to tear your seat off and try to attach charging clips awkwardly to your battery leads - I'll make a quick vid if you need on this as making it for mine and my wife's bike).
Listen Super Beautiful - I have a question for you - State Side, we have gone on "Pro bono rides". A fellow just completed a trip with riders that followed all over the states in the name of raising money for vets - Why do you need to ride alone when you are a winner , a leader, and have a great cause to have others rally around? Why not see if you can promote a movement in facebook, etc - then you will have bikers you can choose to ride with for North West Air Ambulance support -

I'd love to know that you have others to ride with - no one could do your show, but then I know that you are not alone -

Euro tunnel is fantastic for motorbikes as you can usually get away without even needing to take your lid off , the official Honda power socket has a tiny fuse in it 2-3 amp so I only use things that charge up like head torch , air bed pump ect or you blow the fuse , battery will
Be fine I would think , I found leaving a usb plug connected with nothing in it killed my grom battery after a week in the garage , safe journey saffy
I actually prefer the boat if I'm honest, took me the same amount of time from the North but a lot less effort
Leaving a USB lead plugged in should be fine so I guess moisture in the plug shorting the battery 🤔

Battery should be ok on the bike if your using it regularly, unless ancillaries are left switched on or plugged in.
Yeh it's very weird, I didn't have anything plugged into the bike and it died in a few weeks, need to look into it really

Did you consider bump starting the bike? With the long journey you had ahead the battery would've been charged if its on good condition. Anyhow, you sorted it 👍 Fingers crossed its the only issue for you 🙂

Bump :-) Push it, in gear, let clutch out and jump on. I've had plenty of practice as my wife rides Moto Guzzis! You sorted it anyway, more than one way to skin a cat as they say 🙂 Wouldn't be a Sprocket video without some sort of drama and solution 👍

On my 500X I once had a battery problem which turned out to be nothing more than a loose Earth connection. Easily sorted.

I don’t understand, how could it die? You don’t ride your bike at all besides of the trips? Or you charge 10 device all the time? Plus, I thought you’ve got that super kick-start/m-boost battery you were reviewing at one point.
I honestly don't know, it was very weird, it was only 2 weeks I didn't ride it for, and I had no gadgets plugged in, it's why I didn't expect it to die

I bought it second hand, it's an ex-demo but I honestly don't know what's going on with the battery
you need a jump starter pack, about £50 or £60 machine mart sell em
The batteries I usually use have a built in jump start, just haven't gotten round to putting one in this bike yet
I've heard of them, I just have lead acid ones and use the bike for blowing up air bed and charging up everything but carry the jump pack in case I over stretch it@@SaffySprocket
