    Man Utd fan here. I absolutely adored Greenwood back before this all came to light. The audio and photos sicken me and I simply cannot support a man who would do something oike like that. It doesnt matter how good the footballer is, if he does something like that then he doesn't deserve to be at any football club, nevermind one of the biggest and most influencial clubs in the world.
    Back around a decade ago when Adam Johnson was convicted for his crimes, he was kicked out of the sport with no debate (which he should have been). Ive been wondering since Greenwood's crimes, what would have happened if Adam Johnson was a better footballer and played for a bigger club at the time. Would the same situation would have happened then?
    In the end, Mason Greenwood should be nowhere near Manchester United at all and I will be disgusted with my club if he ever puts on a Manchester United shirt again. Its scummy and greedy from the executives of the club to even be considering keeping him.

    Very extreme to say that he should not be anywhere near a professional setting. Isolation is not rehabilitation. Also his wife and kid will need someone to provide for them. Why take that away from such a young man. Rightly so he has paid a price and will continue to for the rest of his life. But I think it’s way too extreme to say he should never be able to earn a living off his god given talents when he will ultimately be the sole provider for his family.

      We can talk about rehabilitation after a fair punishment. I agree with Vizeh, he really shouldn't be playing at this level. We as a society generally should discourage this kind of behavior even if it means that he can't do his job anymore. It is also primarily his responsibility to care of his family and what he did was far from it. Caring for ones family just cannot be a good argument for a lack of punishment. We couldn't put a lot of people in jail if it was a legitimate argument. Especially in Greenwoods case the family argument is silly to me, he himself abused a close family member he was supposed to take care of.

    • @jamesholland720
      @jamesholland720 Před dnem +2

      @@reinrassigerStuhl I agree punishment is a necessary deterrent, and having money or talent shouldn’t exclude you from paying the price. And just to clarify I am not saying he shouldn’t be punished. Like I said, he has rightly continued to pay the price. I’m a United supporter and I don’t want him anywhere near the club - that privilege is gone. But he should be able to earn a living playing football while paying the price. E.g. either to compensate his family, or engage in some kind of rehabilitation process for the community. Either way this is not just about him, as his own wife is the victim here. Ostracising MG from society will also affect his wife and child - his wife is the one who dropped the charges for reasons only she knows. They should not have to pay the price for his abhorrent behaviour - by virtue of sticking by him. Completely removing him from society just to satiate the internet’s lust for punishment is stupid imo. It’s a complex issue that requires a better solution than punishing for the sake of it.

  • @aaronfenton1818
    @aaronfenton1818 Před 3 dny +8

    It’s very simple. He wasn’t convicted in a court of law of any crime. Therefore he is entitled to live his life as he pleases.
    If we’re judging him based solely on videos we’ve seen online, then we’re asking for a society that’s ruled via trial by social media. Be careful what you wish for.

    • @ttm9227
      @ttm9227 Před 3 dny +3

      Your logic is flawed and ignores a lot of things. Yes he is entitled to live his life how he pleases, but that does not mean he is entitled to play high level football or be a prominent public figure. You’re right he wasnt convicted and thus is free from legal consequence, but not from social consequences. The same way he can do what he wants, I (and many many others) are entitled to dislike him and not want him anywhere near the game.
      This “be careful what you ask for” and “judged by social media” argument is and always has been ridiculous sliding slope fear mongering tactic. Social media is not the government and it is not the court system. If the courts and judges were holding trials based on random Twitter posts and videos that may or may not have his voice(which he’s never denied and imo it clearly is him) that would be a problem but that’s not what’s happening here and never was. What’s happening here is greenwood is being judged by the public and people have been being judged by public opinion since the dawn of time and while we may not always like the results it’s natural and there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. It’s been the same since caveman times, if you do a bad thing the group will judge it and may change the way the interact with you because of it. In the eyes of many people greenwood has been judged to have done a bad thing, as a result they no longer want him to play at a high level, let alone at what is supposed to be one of the most prestigious and respectful clubs in the world.

    I am a United fan and it’s a really tricky situation, more so than you put it. Morally speaking, it’s probably best he leaves man United. The smoke won’t go even as time has went on.
    I’m most surprised how there’s not been a statement from Greenwood to explain himself and have his missus explain her side of the story to clarify things. Because let’s say (against the popular belief) that he may be now a changed man and the woman truly forgives him and it’s not just some trauma response; he’d want to alleviate the negativity surrounding his name. The silence from him confirms people’s feelings of him. Though perhaps maybe the reason why he hasn’t is because he believes it won’t make a difference and that it’s far too gone to make any redemption with the public and that may be true

    I totally agree with all you said here. Te banco toda en esta, Vizeh.
    I really want him to never play again in a professional level. What a scum of person.

    Many football fans don't care about moral. For example, some Spartak Moscow fans still want Quincy Promes back in the club despite he did not only the same what Greenwood did but more. Hitting a relative with a knife, driving problems and focking narco trafficking. So I see no strange in this situation where MU fans don't want to remove him from club for "only" some domestic violence. Horrendous situation honestly

    It's mad that the only reason Greenwood isn't at Man U and will never play for them again is because of the Man U womens team. Man U were looking at how they could keep him until the womens team stood up and said no way.

    Well if you dont know how Greenwood performed, he did great at Getafe
    Saying he will never be a good player is kinda wild

    If the Glazers were still the only ones in charge, I would say they are spineless enough to invite him back. However I think the new staff brought in by Ineos don't like the idea.
    Let's hope so anyway, as a United fan, I don't want any abusers in my team, the audio paints a horrible picture.

    I honestly haven't heard of anything regarding Greenwood and his charges before this video so I'm a little bit condused now tbh. What exactly happened?
