Throughout its long and rich history, New York's Carnegie Hall and great pianism
have been synonymous. Lang Lang's Carnegie Hall debut on 7 November 2003
seems to be an event of similar importance. Although Lang Lang had barely
celebrated his 21st birthday at the time of this concert, his portfolio already boasts an
impressive array of high-profile, international appearances. Given Lang Lang's swift
and steady ascent, one can easily imagine the inevitable pressure on this young
artist to deliver the goods in the face of increased scrutiny from colleagues and
critics. As it happens, he handles the limelight with confidence and consummate
grace.

You have to genuinely love this music to perform it with such feeling and sensitivity
This man is in a completely different world when he is playing this… Amazing.
I've listened to this countless times and agree this is one of the most beautiful pieces. Lang Lang at 21 plays this with so much emotion. He is one of my favourite along with a few others
Yes, this is a marvellous, soulful, heart melting rendition, so much tenderness of this as of marvellous Chopin.
One of the best performances i have ever heard 🕊️💟🎹
Oh my god - - what choreography! Especially at the end! If his hovering hands after the final chord are supposed to be a spontaneous gesture of emotional wonderment, I'd be the first to question it. And those attention-getting exaggerated 'pianissimos' are equally pretentious, along with some sections of this beautiful piece that are played at non-indicated, impossibly slow tempos. Yet, when all is said and done, and to no one's surprise, he succeeds in 'connecting' with his nearly mesmerized audience.
This is a pianist who really knows what he's doing (if you get my 'drift').
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you ❤
This is my favorite nocturne together with op. 9 nr. 1 and 2, and lang lang is also one of my favorite pianists, great combo👍🙏🔥
Im glad that this performance is back on youtube
he brought me to many different dimension . Perfect performance !
Absolutely divine
A beautiful piece played by a beautiful pianist. So moving.
Lang Lang plays way beyond his years. It usually takes an older pianist that has experienced life's difficulties and hardships to play with such touch and expression. The timing is perfect too. Chopin would be proud to hear this performance.
Definitely the most beautiful Nocturne of Chopin, I love his playing, tks so much!
I agree, but I have to add that the No.20 in C sharp minor is _also_ the best Nocturne of Chopin 😀.
There are many magnificent versions on YT, but I'd like to call out the ones by Valentina Lisitsa, Tiffany Poon and Menahen Pressler.
@@edwing71 Yes, you are right. I also love that No 20 in C sharp minor. I will sesarch your recommendation. have a good day, edwing.
I bilieve that is op. 27 nocturne...
This is a fover-lasting debate. I'll say Op 48 and 62
@@edwing71 yes, and also Maria Joao Pires, tomorrow
Will be 79! Also marvellous pianist.
Watching this musical maestro transported in his own playing is a gift from heaven
Such a perfection!
Such control!
Such beauty!
Absolutely amazing interpretation! Gorgeous in every way!
Amazing interpretation, thank You 🥰😍❤
Wow so touching and emotional interpretation love listening to a master 🙏👍👌🏽
Maybe the most beautiful Chopin nocturne
I think it's my favorite which is crazy to say. there's so many good ones!
maybe the most beautiful interpretation
Op 9 n 2 the best
I agree with you. Listen to it every night before bed.
Feel like in heaven ......❤
Made me cry, made me think about life.
WOW!!! Chopin był Geniuszem. Amen.!!!
From another planet. Thank you very very much! 💕💕💕🌷
Lang Lang a un immense talent.
Splendide beautiful

I think it's a sublime composition, my favorite Chopin. I wonder what Chopin thought about it? It feels very personal and ethereal. It floats a little off the ground and then vanishes away. It seems to be saying, "I can't stay. Goodbye."
The force is strong with this one.
The best interpretation I've heard of this nocturne 💜
The tempo seems fantastic from that compilation! I certainly love Lang Lang’s interpretation though!
Great touch and interpretation!! Best of the best!!
Lang Lang is the best❤
I think I fell in love ❤ every note is as a treasure ✨️
Hermosa Interpretación ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
really beautiful playing. Bravo Lang Lang!
BRAVO!,
Amazing 😮❤❤❤❤❤
The best Op. 27 No.2!
Yes ... many think it is faster ... but for me it is so because poetry is not in a hurry and if Chopin had thought it faster listening to this interpretation he probably would have changed his mind
I don’t like his theatrality but I have to admitt the sound is wonderful, i love it, played with the fingers of angels
It's masterpiece
Lindíssimo!🙏❤️💐👏👏👏🇧🇷🖖👆🏻
For me there is a big 3 nocturnes
1. Op. 9 # 1 b flat minor
2. 48 c minor
3. 27 d flat major
meraviglioso
Wanderfull.
I want his talent and his jacket
Beautiful version with that of John browning
Claudio Arrau made the benchmark recording of the nocturnes.
4:43-5:09❤
5:31 why do they always look like they are possessed by Chopin?
And the moment when he finished it, it feels like he just needs a bed behind him😂
It is communion, not possession, I think.
Harika.
Belíssimo...

D face at 2:42 ...
can you upload a version without the applause intro, so i can loop without much break in the music?
My Piano teacher recommended I start practicing this song for our next recital. Eek!!! I just recently played nocturne in e flat major op 9 no. 2 two weeks ago at our summer recital does she really think I can learn/master this song in the next 6 months
well its been six months as of commenting, im sure u have managed lol
i tried learning the piece but gave up because it was so hard to cite read
@@creationfied thanks for your comment! I actually put this song on hold and played two other chopin waltzes. Tonight actually. Next recital in the summer I'll be playing this nocturne!
@@gracelee79 thats a weird coincidence haha, may i know what the two waltzes will be? there are just so many pieces on my mind id like to play since they are all so good but learning is a pain. right now Im doing chopins only berceuse
@creationfied hi the two waltzes I played on 1/28 were the l'adieu waltz (op 69 no.1) and waltz in csharp minor (op 64 no.2)
It will be better if Lang Lang wears soft and gentle mild color clothes, because deep red color clothes is strong and intense 。
classical music is subjective, what may be good to you may .
ot be good to others. kissin has a different interpretation of this piece
“Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”
Chopin the man himself couldn't have played it better.
no
What do you know?
There's a problem with this otherwise great pianist: he's continuously pointing to himself.
At the other end of the piano art I know a pianist who truly reveals Chopin and his music: his name is Dinu Lipatti.
In deed! The best Chopin performances have ever been performed on Earth!
It's my favorite of the Nocturnes. He does a good job here. I try hard to like him, but I always find he has "something" missing in his playing. I love the performances of this piece by Moravec, Arran and Pires.
I keep coming back to Lang Lang playing this ethereal piece. It sends me to sleep.
@@friedaelizabethchorlton8654
Well, the valuable classic music is always causing profound observation, analyse, reasoning and thinking, together with owe and reverence. A bit contrary of sleeping...
He's not cut out for Chopin
Mechanical and metronomic.
Thin, hollow, tinny sound. no
flow.
