This was a lovely movie. I bought it and have watched it a few times. It is a great Irish story and so crazy and also real, sort of. So many surprises! If you know any Irish people you will recognize them here. Lovely lovely lovely.

Accents right or wrong, it matters not! It is adorable and oddly funny. Emily Blunt & Jamie Dornan are seriously genius in the portrayal of their characters. Highly recommend it!

It does matter that the accents are wrong. Their attempts at an Irish accent are very offensive to Irish people. Why didn't they cast Irish actors?
Not to mention the misrepresentation and mocking of Ireland.

No. This role should have been filled by an Irish woman. It's so offensive for an English woman to play a caricature of an Irish woman.
Maybe for another movie but not this one...she can't do an irish accent

Culturally insensitive, offensive movie. The Irish people have complained about the stereotypes and are being told to shut up. Just remember that if you watch the movie. If they tried this with other cultures it wouldn't have been allowed.
All cultures get stereotyped. English ppl either sound like they have come straight out of either Eastenders or Downtown Abbey! Uptight, rich snobs or living in poverty relying on criminality for a living. Essex girl has just been removed from the dictionary bc of its negative and offensive connotations. This movie seems to have upset a lot of ppl just on the trailer. It will be interesting to see if ppl still feel the same after seeing the whole film.

2) Yes.. you should remove a word from the dictionary if it is offensive... why would that be a problem?
3) People were upset from the get go, because they immediately saw the problem. Almost every negative stereotype of Irish people there is, are in the trailer, so it's reasonable to assume it would follow suit.
3) I've seen it and it's just as bad as everyone surmised.
If you like the movie - go for it, have a laugh.

To be fair I notice that you bat a lot for Jamie especially when they're trying to say he loves Dakota Johnson and that's fine but it's starting to look very weird, no offence intended. Surely the people who are most entitled to their opinion on this film are us, the Irish. Also, Jamie being Irish expected us to have a very strong opinion on this, he said as much.
