Alcohol Stoves are easy to maintain, cheap and you get nearly everywhere something you can burn in it - And as you mentioned, they are silent. Furthermore, the fuel is cheap too. That makes it easier to combine them with e.g. Pans and Pots which are also capable to get put on a open fire in general / are more robust. Because if you loose some efficiency, it ain't that big of a deal if you just have to get some Methanol & alike.
Sure, if you're hiking - then its a different story.
Also, if you travel e.g. on your Motorcycle through the Ural or so - maybe use a Multifuel solution because sometimes its easier to get simple Gasoline than pure Alcohol.
But for the normal motocamping; Trangias solution if you wanna pay that price, Esbit made a set 1:1 the same which was once dirt cheap and I started to use Stanley Stainless Steel stuff on my Alcohol Stove, due to the benefit that I can put a stainless Steel pan on an open fire with a little bit oil in it, let it get warm and then put something in without worrying that I may destroy the Teflon/Anti Stick-Stuff, melt it if I'm not real careful and they are less expensive than Titanic stuff.

The Goshawk ERA burner has a simmer accessory that has multiple settings and it has a snuffer that can be used to cap it off and seal the rest of the alcohol in the burner.

A pretty comprehensive and informative video Mike. I know you mentioned which stove you'd choose in a zombie apocalypse but what's the one you grab when you're out for just a couple of days or is it dependent on what you're planning to cook🤔

I'm looking at the Skotti Grill. The mini plus booster is a bit lighter for motorcycle travel. I'm experimenting to see if I can cook pastry siccessfully whilst on a trip.

@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739 scrap the Skotti Idea. Check out the Bemco oven from the USA. I just got my friend to bring one over in July for our camping trip in the outer hebrides. Freshly cooked sausage rolls and cookies on the beach - yeah, if it's not raining

and with alcohol stoves, no moving parts... so nothing to break at the worst time

@@peterdd4994 yes they are very simple, you can even make a basic one quite easily with what you find in a bin 👍
