When the timer runs out and you are still in the void don't worry because it teleports you back to the overworld. I hope this helps someone

I recommend using metal detector to get geared up QUICK and destroy all the void mobs and get all the crystals

You dont get trapped in the void when you dont get out in time you actually get teleported out but you keep the crystals and you dont die
