I am working abroad and had to meet their work permit requirements, financial and income requirements. High skilled and genuine short skilled profession. SA needs to start apply their own legalisation. SA needs to start training their own to fill short skills in the future. Just come to the UK and see how a proper system function. Companies who employ illegal immigrants are heavily fined.

@@wandiledlamini4916 what's that got to do with giving foreigners visas. You can think what you like about the UK there's plenty of Africans taking advantage of plenty of freebies, but there's one thing about the UK everything works and they have a good public transport system. It's also home to 56 foreign languages and now they have a new Prime Minister they have done away with the Rwanda deal for migrants and they have an open door policy so migrants go in their millions no questions asked and they will be given visas, free hotel, 3 meals a day, clothing coupons, free cellphones, free bicycles, and about 60 pounds a week and it's not from African resources it's British taxpayers money and the government is leaving the British people to suffer there's now more poverty than usual. One can say yes but, it was built on the backs of blacks but it was not it was built by the working class Brits who were slaves to the rich.

South Africa like every other nation should have a secure border. Also SA should verify that every visitor entering from another African nation has had a sufficient income for the last 6 months. I personally left South to Turkey because of the uncertainty in the country, I Invested in property in South Africa, I was living in CPT for 22 years, every time I apply for PR, home affairs never gave me, I got sick and tired with home Affairs, and I relocated to Istanbul in Turkey, I am very well here and well received.
SA has to change a lot when comes to immigration policies if the want foreigner investor to come to invest in the country, SA home affairs is failure of the country, politics they makes Citizen and foreigner to fight among each other..

100%, the home affairs in South Africa has no clue that foreign investment boosts the country's economy, l mean applying for a PR takes years, still waiting for one since Jan 2018 almost 5 years now. Had plans of taking on a mortgage but that can't happen as the PR is not out, so how does this benefit the country, multiply my situation with the number of people in the same situation, how much is the economic cost of this, let alone for us the people stuck in this mess, also now starting to look for migration options, l think the red flags are showing in policy inconsistencies that they really are clueless and things may never go as l hoped.

There are two groups living completely different realities.
    1. Those living in gated communities(minority). They are protected by private security companies and live like South Africa is a first world country.
    2. Those living in townships and villages(majority). They are living in poverty, they experience the most crime and depend on government grants.

I listened to this presentation and I have a few suggestions to strike a balance between a citizenry that already has a perception that foreigners are taking their jobs and solving the conundrum of unemployment vis a vis upholding the rights of the foreigners themselves.
So, how about working with ANC, EFF and ACTIONSA and PA parliament members to implement say a flat fee of R1,000 monthly fees for their permits, so that guarantes much more funds for the social grants to cushion and give more money directly to South Africans.
Next, if the populist views of pushing most foreigners out may ultimately affect the grand mums that get a substantial income from the rents and at times trading they do with foreigners. So in this case I will suggest, the traders permit DA suggested could come with conditions of employing at least 2 South African citizens, and these must I stress the must be monitored by the home affairs and labour department. Thus, for every legal trader that comes into the country, there are jobs created for their entry, that will discourage illegal or undocumented migrants.
Also, maybe another area to look into is the man power at home affairs, the workforce is currently not enough to handle all these issues all at once. So, in the spirit of creating jobs as well, why let's not make partners out of those youths at the border post to encourage legal migration and use them as tools to dissuade all the illegality at the border.
Furthermore, no doubt the unemployment is a major challenge for South africans, yet job creation is not the job of the national nor provincial nor local governments. From the statistics, most wealthy South African companies are not investing in the economy as it stands. So, encouraging business visa regimes to start businesses with the conditions of employing South africans could kick start the sluggish economy.
However, there are broader issues at play here such as political machinations, interest groups and and that. In finding a lasting solution to this issue its obvious, the present legislations or policies by the government will not suffice. A whole new approach of all political views must be looked into.

The starting point should be the balance of migration, IMMIGRATION = EMIGRATION. Do you mean that the export trade of mercedes benz to SA would be better facilitated if SAns emigrated to Germany? What kind of a desperate sylum seeker would pass several countries to particularly reach SA. So in the psych of the DA the asylum seeker backlog of two years is prioritised over the land question backlog of three hundred years..this from a party faced with a twenty plus year old backlog to rid its Cape Town, the most racist city on the continent, of racism . A party with an overseer who not only sings the praises of colonization of Africa and has a king size problem with internal freedom of movement of the people of the Eastern Cape to the WC but suddenly pretends to be comfortable with foreign immigrants. This is a party whose racist policies have seen an endless number of Black senior leaders jump ship , and they will continue to do so. They fool no one with this agenda of devide and rule...we see them for what they truly are..the greatest hypocrites on the continent !

I think for you to establish a strong and permanent solution organise debates and invite foreigner with different issues then it will be easy for you to determine what to do .
Home affairs has a lot of empty promises which lead to nothing I really appreciate maman Zuma when she was a home affairs minister she could come and hide and see what was the complaints and discover that we were rights on issues we were addressing.coming back to what you are intended to do home affairs minister got many promises and not delivering any refugees because he doesn't want to engage with refugees to know the really reason why we are crying.look at UK now they took refugees from Ukraine and give them two years Visa not permanent because they are qualified and they will contribute to to economy of their country then decide after why not doing that in Africa too which love do we have and why is so difficult for African to trust each other.
I hope what you are planning will work because it is also preparing the future of your country.those who are leading your country today they were foreigners and helped to be were they are today with this as reputation do you really think people will think of doing it again if they know that foreigners are not well treated in your country.some they were given passport to even use people's name in order to achieve their goals why not doing the same to others why not learning from your own history.
I think it is time to educate people using our history as a key point.Do you think if my child became and member of Parliament in my country will work in favor of south African if he sees his father with good intentions and morals and power to do anything for them to achieve a better future but limited by the system of South Africa to treat them as animals not considering what is necessary first for them to be consider human.

I thank you for your proposal but I would like to tell you as foreigner in your country the problem is with the delay of determination of the decision on the status of the person and those who are waiting are having families to looked after for them to get a proper documents for some they are in 20 years of waiting for a proper document .when it goes to a foreigner commiting crime that is due to all frustration which they are going Tru and the government have been informed of all challenges they are facing but not doing much to be on the ground and fix the problem with south African.
In all I know we love you but we have a problem with the way a paper that could take six months is going up to 20 years or 10 even 2 years which type of lazyness that can send an office to go so far for a paper that can take few months.even in office we were waiting for the full day for a paper that could take 3 min extension for the person to go and look for what to feed his family.some lost jobs in days waiting for their extensions and it could take up to 3 days or weeks.
Our children are born here and growing here when their parents are still waiting for proper paper till they reach 18 years they find that their parents are still struggling with documents.
When it comes to birth certificate why different from the south African one when you said at the age of 18 he must chose or collect a south African ID

She has said nothing. DA doesn't acknowledge the illegal immigrants crisis in the country that has bred serious crimes and terrorism. There are reasons why DA has no urgency when it comes to the issue of illegal immigrants.
    1. Majority of DA members benefit from cheap labour and exploitation of oversupply of labour in their tourist areas which are majority owned by white South Africans. No race card here just an observation.
Farmers in the Western Cape and many DA leaning areas where farming has labour intense operations. These farmers are the largest culprits of breaking labour laws hiring illegal immigrants as casual laborers.
The construction sector too. Majority ownership are anti labour regulations in South Africa and more often than not violate the labour act and immigration act.
South Africans need a strong stance on illegal immigrants and cannot sacrifice ordinary poor South Africans for cheap politics and quick money saving exploitation of the situation.
DA has no urgency because they don't care. They are the same with EFF and ANC. SOUTH AFRICANS don't be fooled.
