The island bed with purple smoke bush, lambs ear, and dwarf blue spruce looks great! I also like the ruby falls weeping redbud!

You know what I think about Ruby Falls Redbud! That looks freaking amazing! Perfect color and size to fill the gap in that bed. Really, all the beds are starting to fill in nicely. I've had better luck with Pugster amethyst than I did with pugster blue as far as hardiness. It truly does stay about 2 feet and easily squeezes into perennial beds or the front of shrub borders. Great choice!

It’s truly an amazing tree! And good to know about the buddlea!

@Peoniesandpinks I’ve been on a high getting everything done since I haven’t been here for 6 months 😅 just trying to get it out of my system!

You have inspired me to work on my backyard I’ve been buying plants and small trees. I’ll be making my first flower bed this weekend. đŸ˜…đŸ˜€đŸ‘đŸœđŸ‘đŸœ

I'm normally not a huge fan of "weeping" trees/plants, but I've seen that weeping Red Ruby Redbud in people's yards, and that is one I really do like. I think it'll be beautiful where you placed it, as well. I would suspect that whatever is eating your other Redbud's leaves is also what's eating your Sun King Aralia, since they're right next to each other. I went and looked up possible culprits and it could either be a Leafcutter Bee (they cut holes in Redbud leaves or other soft-leaved plants and then roll them up and take them to use in their nests!) or it could be a butterfly caterpillar (Henry's Elfin uses Redbuds as host plants and are in your geographical area) or it could be a leafhopper or treehopper. But I think it's a seasonal issue and won't harm your tree like you were thinking. All of the perennials you chose are beautiful! Cheers!

Thank you for all the information! I think that’ll help. Help me at least get closer to understanding the situation. I’m planning to talk to some of my coworkers as well!

Joshua! I just noticed you don't have any Crepe Myrtles. They are huge and colorful. Quite a few do well in Zone 6. You can let it spread into a bush, but they're so much better as a big-bold tree shape.

So, cool, I was just wondering what area you were from. I was born in Kingston, RI. No memories though, just a babe when my father was stationed there in the Marines/Navy. Pretty much grew up in Texas though, I love your gardening videos, but many of your plants won't make it here in our zone. Your soil looks so soft too.
