- Oren Lyons is a leading voice at the UN Permanent Forum on Human Rights for Indigenous Peoples and has received environmental and peace award from around the world. We are honored that Oren and his son Rex shared their wisdom with us in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
How sad to hear him say "Put the guns down!" , a year ago. Today we have a huge war going on, again. We are further away from peace than ever. And Mother Earth is screaming in agony. All these fires, burning down our woods. And lakes and rivers run dry all over Europe, because of the heat. She is showing us! We just need to look at her and understand that she is our mirror. I just wished more people around the world would LISTEN to indigenous wisdom.

My path has lead me back to my roots, back to indengious roots and being...it lead me to this video today. And everyday, i make time to sit still, there is a place near my home, where the water flows, a place where i pray for guidance everyday.
Love their spirit. They have a lot to teach us.

I am Turtle (aka given name of Larry) of central Eastern European heritage great Grandmothers of Hagar clan and Scottish Grandmothers of McAndrews and McIntosh clans.
Scottish Grandmothers arrived to the Virginia territory during the colonial period. I acknowledge their heritage and apologize for their invasive, colonial attitudes and actions.
The Hagar Grandmothers arrived later thru Ellis Island with Austria-Hungarian passports. A Ho for all our relations.
What a mixture. I shall figure out what my maternal lines are among Irish and Scottish ancestors and way more back.

It's not past issues and it's not just United States it's the entire world always has been currently we have all of these supposed gay members that Mexico decided were gang members packed in like sardines in a maximum prison they just built and the images look astonishingly like the beginning of the Holocaust yet no-one makes mention that or that China just literally invaded Tibet and put in prison all of the monks re-educating them and if you do not read Kate you die and they sell your organs. There is a sickness in human beings. I don't think it can be cured. We waste our time trying to figure out how to fix it as the issues presented to us arguing issues that are actually happening it's all game of misdirection. We need to quietly reform and plan a future.
I believe there can be a future without pain and suffering.

Exactly-atonement must start with the original peoples. Some people want forgiveness w/o atonement. It will never work. Spiritual laws do not work that way. There must be atonement. Yes we are at a precipice. It's all connected. Reconciliation, Atonement, Forgiveness then Peace. The original sin is to lie about others for greedy purposes. After earning a degree in religious studies I realized why I always questioned my religious upbringing. I was raised to believe in religious lies. So I walked away to never look back. The future if humanity will have one is a spiritual relationship to all living things. Everything connects to everything. We are bound to this earth and everything connected to it spiritually, physically, emotionally and mentally. Our purposes corrupted and Mother Earth is fighting back because of it.
Well forgiveness freeze you not the other person. The other person is not hurting because you do not forgive them, likely did you not care that is why they hurt you in the first place.
One should definitely forgive for their own spiritual health but not forget. Never forget because once you do those who are not willing to atone will always do the same thing to you again without question.

Yes I agree with most of what you say. Our story must be told and acknowledged. I have written a number of letters to different Congress people that immigrants should read the treaties With the tribe's pertinent to the area they settle in. If it works out I would like to meet Oren Lyons.
