I own a Stihl SG-20 pump sprayer. Last season, the wand cracked at the handle. It is a 2009 model. I can't find a parts diagram that looks like my handle assy. I bought a double flare tool kit to repair the wand properly. The handle "guts" have been sitting on my bench since last fall. I have the handle part that looks like a black steel L-shape with a slight bend to use comfortably. The black plastic shape is an off-set kind-of assy. that has the brass spring loaded plunger wich is about 2" long. It has 2 o-rings on it which resembles a bullet point at one end. That opposite end has a machined drilled hole as if a clip held the plunger . Along with the stainless steel 1" - long spring and a brass coller or spacer which would be after the spring . There is a yellow knozzle that was pressed into the wand tube end that broke. I will have to insert it in that end of the tube after I put the new double wall flair. Is there a correct parts diagram that I can see in order to buy parts for repair? Thank You.

Had a Gilmore backpack sprayer for 15 years and it never missed a beat until my son backed over it with the tractor. Bought this SG20 and it’s dead after 2 seasons. Shocked that Stihl puts their name on it.

When you pushed in on the detent (Black cap), you made pulling the shaft out extremely EASY!..I am trying like crazy to pull that out, I’ve had my wife sit on the tank and I’ve pulled and pulled and it still hasn’t come out...again, this is a NEW tank!

😂😂😂 My hero! I was thinking of buying one today, checked the reviews and long behold way to many bad reviews. Then I decided to look up someone that probably knows how to properly take off it since I have done auto mechanic and I know about o ring leaks. You hid it dead on the nail. You confirmed it for me. Thnx for the video

Here's one more tip to add to your list: When storing over winter, position the spray nozzle downward and ensure it is open to allow proper drainage of the last few drops that will consolidate after cleaning or the condensate that may accumulate during the ups and downs of temperature. If stored nozzle tip up, as displayed in the video, that moisture can pool in the "Tube" Part Number 7, the handle that covers the filter and is inserted and clamped into the hose. When it freezes, the Tube / handle will Crack and break.

OK..#1, I wish you had Zoomed In on the Pump Handle so we can SEE what you were doing there!.. I just bought my SG20 yesterday. I filled the tank to 4 Gal. 3 times..worked like it should have. The 4th. Fill, I could NOT get any pressure built up with the hand lever. This is a Brand NEW item, I should NEVER have any problems with it. OK..so, I will take this apart as you describe and I will add some oil to that gasket...I hope it works! Oct. 11, 2020

Hi. I bought an sg71 sprayer and within 1 month of using it it does not pressure up. I have to keep pumping it constantly to make it spray and as soon as i stop pumping it stops spraying. No one seems to help especially the dealers! Any advice PLEASE!!! The pressure gauge on the trigger shows nothing. I can use it but I have to keep pumping like mad and it feels like there is no pressure on the handle. What needs replacing?

Love the SG 20, Thanks for the tips. Sometimes a vacuum is being pulled in the main reservoir (the sides will suck in). Is that because the diaphragm in the lid is not allowing air to come in and replace the water as it is being sprayed out? Can you identify the problem/solution?

Brand new, I pumped 4 gallons out of it. Then, the Lever became too difficult to pump, so I went to CZcams and followed the instructions on some maintenance, When I removed the lower brass collar of the compression tube, #20 on the parts list, I found a wad of what looked like a Cotton Ball. Once I removed that, the steel ball fell out. I put it all back together again and then I pumped another 4 gallons out, but now it leaks chemicals onto my Left Shoulder, its leaking from that black cap at the top of the cylinder. This tank is NEW, it should have any problems at all.

That’s an interesting problem. Leaking on the shoulder? Out of cap or coming out top of pumps? I’m sorry about that.

So I have been using stihl sg20 for 25 years doing lawn maintenance! I have rebuilt several, and they have worked fine! But I am stumped on the 1 today! I have cleaned + lubed the stainless steel balls, put a completely new oring kit on lubed it up too, and cleaned the filter! Little to no pressure build up still! Can you advise please?

I haven’t sold an SG 71 for years There were some really nice features to the sprayer but at that time I didn’t feel it had the durability necessary for landscape contractors. Let me dig into the machine a little bit and see if I can provide any help
