The Queen's gambit accepted is not a mistake Garry Kasparov, Magnus Carlsen, Caruana, and other super gms played it in serious matches.

Even I play the queens gambit accepted and against e3 I play the nf6 e6 a6 c5 setup, and against e4 I play e5, the queens gambit is really good if you prepare some lines because most queens gambit player don’t prepare against it as much as the queens gambit declined

    Hi Igor
I enjoy your videos and have benefited so much out of them. A BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE WORK YOU DO!
In the same vein I want to share a piece of constructive criticism. I have followed your instructive video on QGA with black and destroyed opponents with black, having understood the fundamentals behind the opening. But, there you call it an opening played at top level but here you call accepting the gambit as a step in the wrong direction. Someone watching just this video will be led to thinking that it's not a continuation.
Also the variation that you showed is not the best response by black. I learnt it from you that striking in the center with e5 as black is the best proceeding after whites response to e3, which was not showed here.
If you can keep it a little more consistent, it would be the best thing in the world!
Again thanks for all you do to us.
    Rgds

I'm going to have to compare this with your earlier video where you advised accepting the gambit as black, as I have been thinking of adding QGA to my repertoire as black.

Thank you for this advice. I have had most of these position on the board with white when I was a 1200-1500 player, and it has usually ended in draws. Some day I will either stop playing these safe, but boring, openings, or have a look at what Magnus has done to deviate from the main lines :-)

At first I played the Italian, then I tried to learn d4, went back to e4 (to the Vienna though), and even though that’s still my main opening with a high winrate, I’m trying to learn theory and concepts in more openings so I can surprise my friends. Thanks for the great videos.

Realized I hadn't watched your videos on the queen's gambit after commenting on your new twitter account. Just got done watching and I believe I've gained quite a bit of new knowledge! I've already got a roughly 53% win rate as white playing the QB, only to realize I've been doing it kinda wrong the entire time. Looking forward to putting in to practice what I just learned from your video(s)!

(@6:06) But what if black defends with … Bd7 - then the Qf3 trick doesn’t work, as the bishop can now intercede on … Bc6, gaining a tempo by kicking the white queen. Afterwards, with the rook now protected, black can now play … a6 to defend as well.

I like your videos Mr. Smirnov, but in your zeal you get a bit dogmatic. You totally implied accepting the queen's gambit is an error. It literally scores as well in database game as QGD and slightly better than the Slav. The computer at a huge depth puts it as .3 instead of the .2 of the QGD.
It's good to tell beginners not to give up the center, but you're basically misrepresenting stuff a bit to make points.

Why not e4 instead of e3

    • @Chessersmakeyouwin
      @Chessersmakeyouwin Před měsícem

3.e4 is a key alternative. Expanding ipon the same idea, White gains a larger share of the centre. The problem with this is that Black also is reacting quick in the centre: 3...e5 attacks the d4 pawn with 4.dxe5? Qxd1+ 5.Kxdi Nc6, when Black gets a good position) 4...exd4 5.Nxd4 Nf6, Black has an even game. In the QGA, Black usually allows White to recapture the c4 pawn. He hopes that he will to attack the centre with his own ...c7-c5 to reestablish the equilibrium.
      *hope* *this* *helps* *!*
