- Be gentle! First time breaking one down and swapping scales. Appreciate the patience and these are “Anodized Titanium” scales from Rock Scale Design. The colors pop, especially the blue!
Great quality on these and they make some different styles of scales and back spacers for the Benchmade Bugout & Spyderco knives.

Hey Zach. Just completed my Rogue Scale install on my Benchmade Bugout. You asked about any tricks about the pivot pin install. What worked for me, was instead of using the T10 to put into one side to keep everything, (Blade & Washers) centered into the pivot hole as you showed, was I used instead a round Torx key set, that had round shafts of variable widths. Just find the closest one that will slide right into the pivot hole.
For me a T27 Torx shaft worked to closely center all the components. Once the blade and washers are about exact, pull out the shaft slightly, start insert of the pivot pin, and at the same time, rock them slightly forwards and backwards, to keep everything centered, slips right in, well at least for me it did, and I didn't have to disassemble any further. Pivot pin has a flat side as you mentioned in the vid, it is facing the top, towards the axis lock at the 12:00 position. Apply fresh thread locker, and your good to go. Blade centered perfectly the first time.

This was a good video. I'm getting ready to do a custom bugout build. I got a nice hollow ground Magnacut blade from Brian at Transparent Knives and I'm trying to decide which scales I want to go with. Anyway great video, I really enjoyed it. 🔥🔥🔥

I love these scales they make the Bugout look like a custom knife. I need a Bugout,with these scales the Bugout would be a solid and thin edc knife. Benchmade has a special custom Bugout going for around 750 dollars on their website but this is way more exciting and alot cheaper,with 750 you can make few of these lol

I’m trying to swap the screws on my barrage and I can’t get the stock ones lose without damn near stripping them
Darn locktite has them nice and secure. Couple options with light heat you can find some videos on CZcams. Just be careful of the plastic scales. Good luck!

Damn, those are beautiful! They probably cost more than the knife. I wish they made scales for my Griptillian. Benchmade's plastic scales absolutely suck. One good thing is you can buy and old knife and get a new blade for $5. Then do what you did.

Looks great! I see a Bugout with RSD scales in my future.
It’s been a while since I replaced my Mini Grip scales but if I remember correctly I had to keep the blade partially deployed to allow the pivot to go back in.

Each design has a different price. So I would email or message him for an exact price. I will have to find what I paid for these.

How much do those scales weigh versus the plastic ones?

They are very nice as you see, he has custom back spacers. With mine he had the flat option or the geared look. I went geared and love it. No barrel spacers yet....but the stock ones stay on. So you might be able to find them through another builder and just don’t put this one in from your order. Thanks for watching the long video!

Benchmade doesn’t sell just the blades at the current moment. They will install a new blade on your knife if you send it in and purchase a new blade from them.
