I just wanted to say I've been using straight shank hooks this year based on your advise from one of your older videos, and I've noticed that it did increase my hookup ratio vs EWG by a lot. This has worked great for me and want to thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I fish texas rigs weightless 90% of the time here in South Africa with ewg hooks and rhe palomar knot on mainly braided line (sometimes with a leader). This video just makes so much sense to me that i am defnitely going to my local tackle shop tomorrow for straight shank hooks. We went fishing yesterday and i caught 18 bass but also lost about 7 fish. I now know why...Stunning video and channel as always. Thanks Randy.
All your professional experience you pass on is greatly appreciated.
Never forget, we love the " best and worst ass holes on the water" stories. Blessings.
Good video. I knew everything u we’re gonna say almost word for word. Anybody watches this channel should have this memorized
Old guy here. Jimmy Houston was tying this knot on TV when he had short hair. Great knot, and no disrespect to Aaron in any way intended.
Aaron was always right ! Man I miss that guy so much
Thank You for the tip. 😇🙏
I like the idea of side hooking the baits.
I will try it Randy.
Aaron‘s Knot is what I call it and it’s the only knot that I use anymore. I have so much confidence in that not and I don’t have to worry about it breaking ever!
Aarons Knot , I like that , good one
I agree it should be called Aaron's knot.
I will third this motion!! Aaron was such a super guy. Truly missed
Nicely done, good information and all share how I peg my sinker. You get a small piece of mono 6 or 8lb test and both ends you run them at the same time from the back of the sinker towards the front of the weight pull thru till you just have about 1/2" of the mono showing and place a small piece of the rubber band on the loop you have on the back of the sinker and you pull the rubber band thru the sinker with the two ends of mono that came thru the sinker once the rubber band loop pops out thru the top of the sinker you stop pulling and just remove the mono by just pulling on one of the ends and trim the rubber band on the back of your sinker it just takes seconds to do. Great video 👍
This knot if you study it the way you tie it makes sense , it’s doubled , this makes so much sense to me for worms and jigs too , cause that knot gets set harder on jigs and worms , and being doubled I can see where it would not brake as easy on the hook set , I’m definitely going to use it , I set the hook hard I jack em , it’s a bad habit of mine on a worm and a jig , thanks mr Randy for this knot
My favorite knot
I remember a previous video where you talked about this knot and a couple of things that stood out for me was the straight shank hook and side hooking the bait. Great stuff and honestly I agree with another comment on here, this knot should be called Aaron's knot. Thanks for sharing this Randy and I hope that your allergies clear up, ragweed season is finally over up here in Ohio.

I'll have to change my way of pegging worms good one thanks Randy.
I haven't had a problem with a Peg-It coming out of the weight. I love them- they are easy on the line without crushing or pinching it. I might try toothpicks again though just to reminisce. I agree with not using EWG hooks- they are trash.
Randy I have shown a lot of fishermen how to tie this I developed this knot way back in 1974 I have shown a few fishermen how to tie it I have proof of it there are still a couple of guys livening that know when I came up with it there are couple of big names that I showed them how to tie I showed this one guy how to tie it and a few years later he said he came with it I just call it my worm knot I remember when Jimmy Houston came to are bass club meeting with Bill Norman I think I t was around 1975 I showed him he was one of the first professional I showed along with Rob Kelby I when guys say they came up with it I ask them to show me I can tie it in about four seconds most guys have to take more time my buddy was at a boat show back in 1976 the stren line rep was there with a line test machine he tested the knot against the knot he was tieing my knot let his line go past the 14 lb line he wanted him to show him the knot he did not show him I tie a unity knot with tieing braid on mono together I don’t know why Aaron called this knot a double unity
If you use toothpicks it's a good idea to let the bait soak for a minute to swell and soften the wood.
The way you hook worms makes a lot of sense but does it cause the worm to spin?
Hey,
I know more than Aron Martins! Because that ain't a double uni knot! It's a double San Diego jam knot!!!
For those who care about the details, this is actually the double pitzen knot.
The Swindle Double Shindo Over-The-Creek, Beside-The-Barn Foothole Knot
@@treymoreycall it whatever you want, just don't call it the name of another completely different knot.
That's like tying a clinch knot and calling it a Palomar.
You know, names exist for a reason so we all know what we're referring to, and not confusing the audience we're trying to educate is a pretty big deal.
As I've said earlier, this knot is similar to a single Uni with doubled up line. Still, not a double uni which is a leader connecting knot.
Did I lose count? Was there 10 mistakes mentioned?
Trilene knot works just as good and is easier to tie. Just my opinion.
T STOPS SIMPLE EASY ! REALY STRONG ! CHEAP ALSO < BOBER STOPES ALSO **
I’m glad to see that tooth picks are still the deal. I never used anything else. At least I did one thing right.
Randy, I really enjoy your videos and agree with you on your political viewpoint regarding the league issues and live scope, but why do the pros think they are the only people on the planet that know how to fish? You are old enough, and I am noticeably older, to remember the days when there where no fluoro and braided lines,, only mono or dacron, There were no soft plastics, or chatter baits. or tungsten weights, or bobber stoppers, or square bills or all of these off the wall rigging techniques. I even remember when there wasn't a KVD. Buck Perry and Al and Ron Lindner were my source of knowledge and they have forgotten more than half of todays pros will ever know.. They taught, they didn't lecture.
