  • Paramecium and Amoeba are both single cell, eukaryotic organisms that are classified as protists.
Amoeba are single celled organisms that are shaped like a blob.
They are found in freshwater ponds, streams, lakes, and even in salt water.
The move using a pseudopod. Basically they just ooze along.
Amoeba eat bacteria, other protists, and dead plants.
They engulf what they are eating.
Paramecium move by using tiny hairlike structures called cilia.
The cilia move back and forth and not only move the paramecium, but also sweep food towards the paramecium.
A paramecium have two vacuoles that they use to store food, and expel water out.
The food vacuole is a primitive gut and stores food for the paramecium.
The larger central vacuole can regulate the amount of water inside this single cell organism.
