    Even with your faith or without it, you are an amazing author.
    I have never read a book with as much insight into people's personalities.The way you understand human nature, the values and faults, is unique. I believe that from everything I have read, your work on, what even seem to be the most unimportant character has more unique personality then some heroes.
    If believing gives you inspiration to write, as much as atheism did in the past, then do so, because everything you have done is sound.

    @YaoiLover00 If you are not a writer, you don't understand. I am. Writing is something that takes you over--like being possessed. Many fiction writers will say they feel as if they're in an altered state or "not themselves" or in a trance when "in the zone" of writing something that they’re passionate about. Faith, or its absence, is an integral part of that. Writers *must* write what we know and feel, including our spirituality. If we try to do otherwise we're more apt to fail.

    Anne Rice has the right to use her gift of writing as she chooses. If you think about it, the vampire series is complete with "Blood Canticle" with all of the loose ends wrapped up. What made Lestat so appealing was his fight against his dark destiny with his free will. After reading her vampire series and "Called Out of Darkness" the reader realizes that each book was Anne's way of exploring her spirituality. Giving her writing gift to God is the last and highest commitment of her career.

    @musicgurl231 Anne Rice's fourth vampire novel, The Tale of the Body Thief, is in development with Ron Howard (director of Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The Grinch)...this news was REALLY HUGE two weeks ago. Lee Patterson is currently writing the script. Ron wants to reboot the series and remake Interview, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned as well as the further books.

    Hello everyone,
    Well I just wish to say how much I adore the Vampire Chronicle she create and all the passion that goes out from it.
    I will probably have a lot of critics about that I will write now, but everyone seams to forget that she was the one who created this special atmosphere, far beyong Stephenie Meyer or Smith ! It is so sad that the public make a so hug pub about Twillight or The Vampire Diaries, when Interview with a Vampire, was here before all that !

    Ok, just for a bit of perspective; I am an atheist and thereby biased, as is anyone with a beating heart. People trash talk Anne Rice all the time for returning to religion as if this is comparable to "selling out." What people often overlook is that everything, and everybody is constantly changing as to best live the life they want and do the things that they want to do. Only in death does change cease.

    Religion usually comes with age and appending death no mather if its close in reality or not. People need to belive in something or belive that they belive in nothing. I too think its a shame she only writes for god but she has given so much already that im just happy that she is happy.

    @chukmaty Actually she is still not a christian although she has clarified that she is still committed to Christ, apart from the rules and regulations that is imparted by the bible and the church, hence in that respect she still believes in Jesus but she no longer gives herself the label Christian.

  • @souldude81
    @souldude81 Před 13 lety +1

    @chukmaty Actually it is and that label holds a certain precedent as far as following the bible is concerned. Ultimately it is your perogative if you still continue to see her as a Christian. You can be a follower of Jesus and not be a Christian. Gandhi for example was a follower of Jesus's teachings but did not call himself Christian either. Just saying.

  • @TheSouthernorycle
    @TheSouthernorycle Před 14 lety +1

    Christianity is based on truth and logic much more than you suppose. That is one of the reasons I believe Christianity. It is a religion you could not have guessed. If it offered us just the kind of universe we had always expected, I should feel we were making it up. But, in fact, it is not the sort of thing anyone would have made up. It has just that queer twist about it that real things have. The problem is not simple and the answer is not going to be simple either.

  • @alluvermin
    @alluvermin Před 14 lety +2

    I don't really support your opinion on "all things christian are terrible" or that Rice is wasting her talent. I am atheist but I wish she would elaborate more on what made her regain her faith.

    I used to be really into Anne's vampire books while at college. Then one day shortly after graduation, I did the math. If I were made into a vampire and had to kill one person a night then in a year I would have killed 365 people. Over ten years it would be 3650, a hundred years would mean 36, 500, a thousand years would be 365,000.
    I stopped reading her books after that. Say what you will about Anne's writing ability, storylines or plots, to me, after doing the math, they were sickening.

  • @TheSouthernorycle
    @TheSouthernorycle Před 14 lety +1

    If you do not believe in a creator than you must believe that life has no meaning. This is just not logical. I quote C.S. Lewis...If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.

    May be it is the romantic part, that seduce most of them, but for me, there is no better book or movie than the one from Anne Rice.
    Again this is just my opinion. Thanks.

  • @TheSouthernorycle

    Listen, A man who said the sort of things Jesus said was not just a "prophet" He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great prophet. He has not left that open to us.
