I am obsessed with this scene and how wildly embarrassing it is for Kipps to have done. When you ask a potential colleague to something that could easily be a networking event, she says no, and you double down by asking her on a straight up date. Absolutely humiliating. I love it

As a book fan who read the books before the show, Quill Kipps is the best character and had the best scene in the last book

This makes sense to me. Kipps values prestige and Lucy has it. Some have said this clashes with their idea of Kipps in the books but I don't think so. I can totally see it, (though I am that person who wrote a 35000w Lucy/Quill/Lockwood/Skull fanfiction so.... ) But I think this scene in the show is also the start of showing Kipps' better side. I think he has a great story arc over the books and his bravery comes out more and more. I wasn't sure about the casting at first, but Jack Bandeira does a great job.

Still makes me uncomfortable how Kipps seems to be interested in Lucy when that never happened in the books, plus Kipps is canonically supposed to be older than all of LW&C. There was really no need for the slight “love triangle” to stir up some spice or angst between Lucy and Lockwood

@@Lunafroyo It´s not the first time a streaming series makes the characters a bit older and put in more romance than in the books. They did the same with Enola Holmes.
I don´t mind, but I haven´t read the books. Streaming series often try to reach a wider audience by making middle grade / YA fiction a bit more "mature". This show is not for children anyway. Like Enola Holmes, this is for teens or older, but too scary for kids.

I don't know what to feel about this scene. Been reading the series and knowing never for once that Kipps ever make a move on Lucy, kinda buggers me watching it. I always ship Kipps with Holly in the book. Or probably it's just me, lol!
not just u, i liked holly and kipps at some point but then i saw this pinterest thing where kipps kisses holly and lucy on the forehead (separate) and someone mentioned they could imagine him just kissing everyone on the forehead. I dont ship kipps and holly as hard as i used to but i can definitely imagine him doing that

The actors are 22 and 28, so not that much of an age difference IRL.
But considering that Kipps is suppose to be 20-something and Lucy just 16, it feels a bit wrong.

how old are they in the series? if i remember correctly, kipps was 22 and lucy was like, 15? 16? in the books

In the books yes he’s twenty two and she’s 16 and there is NOTHING romantic between them in the books, but the show changed his age. If I were to guess, he’s probably supposed to be 18 at most. So, they changed the age of agents losing their powers too it seems.
If he were supposed to be 22 like the books, of course that would be incredibly inappropriate, but I actually like that they aged him down. He always seemed more one of the kids than a mature adult to me anyway.
