The greatest thing about Italy at ESC is that they only care about the quality of their music. Live orchestra, meaningful lyrics, great voices, Italian language of course. No choreographies, no crazy scenography, nothing here is studied to win Eurovision, this just feels authentic.
And I 100% think this is the reason behind Italy's success every year.
Well yeah to us sanremo is more important than esc itself, we don't vote with esc in mind, and to be honest until a few years ago no one cared about it, that's why we withdrew from 1998 to 2010
At Sanremo, there's no staging. So, choreographies, special effects, crazy scenographies usually don't exist. The competition is all about the song, the music, and the lyrics.
Even Eurovision was like this in the early years, because it was based on Sanremo

What I love about her is that every movement, every dance are totally spontaneous. She changed choreo every night and she added different ad libs every night. You can really tell she really lives the song she’s singing.

The song is about boredom as a chance to get positive vibes and start something new and positive. She says "a crown made of spikes will be my party dresscode", "I was given a pearl necklace for children with trauma". Her father was a famous and amazing italian singer and he died in 2014 during a concert when she was only 13. And she was attending that performance. So the Song is also autobiographical

This is the rendition of the song she presented at Sanremo where they must orchestrate the song, but the studio version (that is the version she will bring on stage) there is no orchestra. It's always a pity, I still remember Måneskin's Zitti E Buoni with the orchestra at Sanremo and saying it was amazing it's not saying enough
This is the Sanremo festival (which is older than Eurovision) and all songs are performed live with an orchestra.

Thank you! To think that until 2012 most of us (under 40) didn't even know what esc was. During the many years Italy wasn't attending the competition no channels or radio stations spoke about it. I remember getting to know about its existence from my sister, who's passionate about foreign music and watched the show on CZcams.

They let rhe artist have some engagement on their own channel, and also they needed time to choose which performance was best (this is from the second night).

also might be the case, that San Remo is technically not an Eurovision Qualification, just that the winner of San Remo gets priority to go to Eurovision if they wish. maybe it also took time to get all "paperwork" sorted to get the song oficially registered as Eurovision entry

It's not classic Italian pop when it's deeply rooted in digital cumbia and reggaeton, what are you talking about?
@@ArtificialFertilizer well it's latin inspired but there is no reggaeton here, there are different latin rhythms. To be more precise is a mix between south italian music and latin music. The parts when the rhythm stops are classic south italian sounding, the parts where rhythm takes over are latin influenced. In the italian parts she reflects on the feeling of boredom, in the latin parts she tella stories. It's to enhnce the contrast between the feeling of boredom and the reaction to it.
