One of the greatest matches! Amazing comeback. I was a freshman in high school and when I saw this match and the Boot Scoot for the first time. I was like, "What was that! Rewind!" I started practicing it and it became far and away my favorite takedown.
I agree, very tense and good match
This is like the perfect example of Iowa style wrestling
I took Abas down in a practice when I was a senior in high school and then he proceeded to kick my ass for it. I legit caught him and he let me know he wasn't going to let that happen again. Both he and his brother were good dudes to roll with.
Sickkk was it at james logan high?
I Call BS
@@waynegoin5534 call BS . Don’t have to prove shit to you. Bye.
@@waynegoin5534 Yeah...I don't know. I remember a coach telling me about a kid who was a JV kid my Sr year, someone I NEVER Wrestled with and he relayed a story about how he took me down a "couple times," in a practice my Sr year and then...same thing.
I mean, this guy was below .500 on JV. I didn't give up a TD my last couple years of HS. Maybe I drilled with him one day, but...
Or maybe Zuukee is not bullshitting and I shouldn't let almost the exact same hypothetical impact my opinion!
Definition of iowa style right here
Thank you for giving us the full match version of this!!!
One of the best matches ever
Seeing gable go apeshit at the end just gives me goosebumps man, total inspiration
My Fresno State Coach Gerry Abas when I went there from the late 90s/early 2000s.
One of the greateest examples of guts displayed in any sport. "I will win" attitude.
What a match!
Phenomenal match! Reminded me of Guerrero vs Schwab in Carver when Schwab broke him in the third!
That was not won in the last few seconds that was won with the countless hours of conditioning that gave him the tank to break Jerry. Unbelievable match for the NCAA and a lights out fantastic win for Lincoln and the Iowa Hawkeyes
First time I saw this match. I'm no expert but man that kid was gassed at the end. Lincoln wrestled a good match. Props.
Constant attacking from both men, this is how wrestling is meant to be
11:50 to 11:56...love Gable's reaction
Abas wasn't faking fatigue. He was being taken to deep water and struggling. He took a couple of breaks and stalled and sucked it up and slipped in a good takedown, but that wasn't fooling people while having energy. He was sucking air. He couldn't hang at that level of intensity. Iowa had several wrestlers do this to you. Ironside was as menacing as anyone by the time you were in the third. That's how he beat Cary Kolat as well. Deep water. It's a part of the PSU formula today as well. Look for it in OSU now.
Heck of a match!
3:24 check out the "deep half" work. Wonder if he knew what he was doing
Oh my God what a match
Here is the question.. what was point for.. there was no stalling.. that would have tied it.. don’t know how that happened unnoticed
Wow .. I kno these guys are damn good but to think how amazing these kids are now compared to this
Amazing match
Epitome of Iowa Wrestling
A fantastic match, Lincoln never ever gave up and that's what payed off in the end 🫡
Dang Abas was gassed after he got almost put to his back after that he didn’t look the same
I’m an Iowa fanboy all the way so I’m glad that Mcilravy won, but I can’t help but feel bad for Gerry Abas. Abas had the talent to be a 3 timer, maybe even a 4 time champion, but he just grew up in an era of studs. Went against Mcilravy here and barely lost. He went against Fried the year after that and gave Fried a really good match. Then the time comes his senior year and he’s the number 1 seed, but has an off match with Hughes and loses big time. It’s really a shame. Gerry had about the same amount of talent as Stephen Abas, but the crucial between the two is Stephen didn’t go against those studs, but also the crucial difference being Stephen has a better gas tank. Notice how every time Gerry loses, it’s because he gets winded later. He lost to it in this match, lost momentum against Fried in their match, and lost to Hughes because he couldn’t execute later in the match. It’s really a shame, but it can be the smallest difference that makes you an all time great, and just another NCAA wrestler. Sadly because of conditioning, most people just look at Gerry Abas as another NCAA wrestler
100%...something was just missing...abas talent with an Iowa mindset and conditioning...o man, he would have been untouchable
My uncle coached Lincoln in high school, the stories on his work ethic and conditioning are not even believable.
Gas Tank Went Empty….& Once Again fatigue Makes Coward’s Of Us All !!
What a crazy match.
That stalling point was such horse-sh*t. Refs just hand close matches to Iowa wrestlers... what was that ref, a booster for the Hawkeyes? Total bravo sierra.
at 11:27 that is not stalling
125 LBS...PIN 00:12 SECONDS
SUBIDO: 8 MCDONALD: 0 (1ST ROUND)
Stephen had pretty tough opponents as well. Jeremy Hunter was a 4 time AA and came back to be a NC and Strittmatter placed 2nd and 3rd in his only 2 DI tournaments. Fried and McIlravy were tougher than Hunter and Strittmatter but as far as finals opponents go Hughes has to be toward the bottom 10%- he was good but almost every NCAA finals participant is as good or better than Hughes and Abas still couldn’t win. He couldn’t handle the pressure like Stephen could handle it
anyone know what kind of shoes gerry is wearing?
la gear.they dont sell them anymore unfortunately
Abas shouldn't have got called for stalling at the end there.
agree. that was a total bullshit call. incredible match and heart displayed by LM but that was a shit call.
@@johnnybeefum Faking injury because you are winded is heartless cowardice, the better man won!
@@randyh.7817 maybe, maybe not but the point still stands. That stall call at the end was bullshit.
I agree let wrestlers decide the match not the referee as at the time Abas was not backing up so it should have gone into overtime.
Lincoln McIllravy vs. Steve Marianetti
ACTUALLY JAY-ANTHONY SUBIDO DID TWO WEIGHT CLASSES...119/125

How do you feel winning with escape points i feel if you don't earn it you shouldn't get a point..Than a stslling call looked like a local ref..but its all good he got taken down 4 times in first..
Abas LOL. He deserved to lose
does anyone else think this was kind of a robbery?? or a little biased?
No
Nah. Abas was stalling. Mind you, not by choice; he was exhausted. But stalling is stalling.
He broke that Mexican kid
that American kid
He just needed better cardio and could easily win, lincoln won by 1 point
He's actually asain
@@steveperry6492 nice response 👍👍👍👍
No, he's American from California, but his last name Abbas is Arabic (Persian)
I also made calls to 9/11 regarding illegal immigration allowed, and "I don't care" attitude...(this is probably stemming from India owned Burger King Franchise...as an "off" by "African" perpetuating as no pyramid to build because "flooded"..."oh well"...Attitutde problem w/ managers and parents..."started their intent as foreign terrorists" probably since graduated to degraduate a generation...for Grandparents ploy care problem...
this comment makes a lot of sense man, you seem really bright!
I lost to McIlravy one time and I beat Gerry in California USA
