Yep - I know too little about the British mandate, but it seems that all or at least most of the infrastructure has been created after 1948.

@@Alex-jb5tb Back then there weren't that many cars, so obviously the road that connected Tel Aviv to Jerusalem back then was very different than what we have today. The construction of this road was started in the 60s.

Beautiful views on the route... ..and so much vegetation and trees! I'll bet Mark Twain would be awestruck seeing this portion of Israel. He wouldn't believe his eyes and the green transformation that has occurred in the land. How can anyone not see the Bible to be the true word of God?!

Fifty years ago this highway didn't exist. It's like a different country. Only the hills in the distance remind me of Israel. And the airport was called Lod, not Ben Gurion.
The airport's name was changed from Lod to Ben Gurion International Airport in 1973.

Hi, Thank you very much! Yes, there are drivers in Israel who drive too fast.
In the first 5 min it was possible to drive up to 50 km/h, then 90 km/h, and after 22:22 the speed limit is 110 km/h. Shavua Tov! ❤💐

At the beginning of the video the speed limit is 50 km/h.
From 01:18 is 30 km/h.
From 02:35 is 50 km/h.
From 03:41 the speed limit is 80 km/h.
From 04:30 - 90 km/h.
@@MyLittleIsrael Yeah, and on 34:29 we have 50 km/h and 94 free parking places. :-)
If I might now ask a real question: In a documentary on Israel in the 1960s, I learned that during the tenure of Prime Minister Levi Eshkol there was a huge push in infrastructure projects throughout Israel. Is this correct ? Does the NIS 5 bank note honour all his great achievements ? I am asking this because of all what I am seeing on your Route #219 video and all the other ones.

Are you allowed to drive in the west bank or is it forbidden? Also are there bits of Jerusalem you can't drive in? Awesome view of the high speed rail bridge coming out of jerusalem, I had a (virtual) ride on that train in both directions and was blown away. Lots of crazy people on the roads in Israel just like here in the UK - the driver in front at the 16min mark just couldn't keep in his lane and the tailgating taxi at 19min lol. Surprised you didn't have a crash with all those idiots changing lanes for their turn offs far too late and the bus and lorry drivers seem to go at ridicoulous speeds - here they have speed limiters but I guess they don't there.
What's the purpose of the red and black curb markings on the sides of Israeli roads and highways? Great driving. I drove from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv in 1971 and it was a terrible and dangerous drive and took well over an hour. With yhe new highways and trains Israel has become a first world nation.
...we have done nothing for 3 years but would like to include Israel next year...................
