In the MV, this mark is on a truck, may be the forst step to travel to an other world

At first, we won't see it, but this whole MV and song is satire. Notice how they're "popping the champagne, look at my necklace, wearing a black dress" without holding a champagne, without wearing either a necklace or a black dress. Notice as well how they sound a bit lazy while singing those lines but they go all out while singing the pre-chorus and the bridge, lines that say "Rise, there's a spark everyday, celebrate your festival & express yourself more".
Yes they may sound narcissistic but Dreamcatcher is actually making fun of fame & glamour without the industry realizing it. That's pretty fucking special. Also, even if the song is just a typical self confidence booster, after almost 7 years of being badasses, the girls have EARNED this confidence. And they make me proud to be a fan, as always.
I absolutely love how much the concept grows on us the more we recognize the satire. With everything considered, I think the only constructive criticism I may give the concept is that they could have benefited by being just a bit more over the top on the underlying sinister vibes that the message is supposed to portray (so perhaps make the satire just a bit more obvious rather than a slow burn). I'd imagine something like JiU's menacing smile at the end of BEcause or something more uncanny sprinkled throughout.

You know you left out the biggest hit to everyone. Dami's lines. Clearly tell what this is about. She is for sure not asking herself how is it and do they feel like a monster... This people this is making fun of. Something to consider: I think theyre doing something similar to what they did with BEcause. As in, taking a theme thats very popular in kpop (with BEcause it was upbeat love songs, with OOTD its girl crush confidence anthems) and pushing that theme until it becomes toxic/obsessive for the singer. They mentioned in pr statements for this cb that they wanted to explore the concept of confidence turning into narcissism. I think its really cool to do that with kpop, which is a culture thats really obsessive and profits from it

I Miss You is difficult to find info on, but I believe it was simply their Japanese debut release and not a fan song. It sits in the same category as Endless Night, although the chronology is difficult to manage there.

@@plasmakitten4261 Yeah, I wasn’t completely sure on that, and although it’s not made official, it is implied to be a fan-song judging by the lyrics. But your argument is valid, it could be either or.
The more I watch this video, the more details I find that make it obvious it's an ironic/shout out to the negative sides of the music industry and social media. I mean... the constant editing and re-editing of pictures, the planned/fake fights (handong and yoohyeon), also are those "bruises" on handong's legs once you see her whole body 0:55?!! The video makes some lines have a completely different meaning. Like "gonna catch your attention, then wait till you know" or "ootd this my fashion, shut up, no more questions" ---> we enjoy and consume and sometimes envy people over pictures and videos we constantly see on our feeds, that we ignore or even choose to ignore the "darker" side behind them. Which could either be exploitation, faking a smile everyday, narcissism, addictions ("driving on the highway, drunken everyday"), and..... oh god. Also "OOTD" could reference fast fashion, although I see it more like a "you like my facade today, you'll probably hate me tomorrow". Which makes the video a paradox itself seeing the reactions of some people after 1 listen lol.
Anyway, this is dreamcatcher's "girl crush" concept, as much as "BEcause" was a love song 🖤

The way I see OOTD has at least three layers - Superficial, Satirical and Story layer. The first is the most obvious which is the self-empowering, confidence boosting "we are beautiful, successful, rich and famous" kind of message. JiU calls herself Venus, a goddess and being literally "drop dead gorgeous" at the end.. And it is just soo over the top :D But the thing is they deserve it and could actually do it, but it is just not them.
On a satirical layer this song is a huge middlefinger to the music industry in general and the superficial beauty where everything is all about the looks, everything staged and edited. The soundscape and parts of the M/V mimic generic girl crush concept sounds (what you do not really hear in the other 70+ songs DreamCatcher has) and the M/V redraw parts of other M/Vs. Posing with cool Cars and Motorcycles (Siyeon - Sua), doing commercial and product placement (Gahyeon), just posing looking fabulous with high fashion (Handong and JiU wearing Dior), making fake drama for more views (Yoohyeon) etc. The rap section is told from the perspective of an idol how many of them act after getting some fame. And for all the previous pictures they empathize that those are fake, and show how they actually look from behind the scene. Handong with the bruises, JiU like a boxed product, the Yoohyeon drama that ends right after the cut and the behind the scene footage and rendering shots for the other three. They also incorporate really short cuts to ensure we do not take them seriously, like the face Handong makes, Yoohyeon burst into a laughter throughout the final chorus, Siyeon laughing etc. Also the "Look at my necklace" (that she is not wearing), "look at my black dress" while wearing street fashion...
Now for this satirical layer they had to adjust a bit their delivery and this is what makes this track different and this is why many who love the Dreamcatcher signature sound complain. First they wanted to not just look but to sound a bit like a traditional K-Pop girl crush song. And those filters and distortions and tuning that make a not so great singer sound good actually take a bit away from parts as we can hear their natural voice less as normally they do not use it since they are such great singers and do not need it... Also they deliberately used lifeless robotic delivery through the "OOTD this my fashion shut up no more question", like OOTD is the only thing that matters, they have no opinion about anything else, do not ask them about anything else as this is the robotic answer you get. In the final chorus they are almost laughing while singing to highlight the sarcasm. Also the overly playful mocking tone of the "I am only doing better". All in all ppl complaining about why the track is different most probably miss this layer.
And finally there is the story layer where OOTD is the 1st part of a duology. Dreamcatcher members here are the villains who lure poor Shasha (the protagonist of the video, working as a video editor or graphical artist) into some kind of an augmented reality experience looking for the "crown" (aka fame, success whatever). The analogy I think is the follow the white rabbit from Matrix (along with many other Matrix style references throughout the M/V). And to appeal to Shasha they play the role of being great and rich and successful aligning with the narcissisms of the satirical layer.
The way I see the story starts when Sasha searches for Dreamcatcher videos and stumbles upon the mysterious Dreamchat where Archenemy (spelled backwards, the 99th victim of Dreamcather) tells her about the power of the crown that she should be looking for luring her into this VR game. She follows the crown (drawn at the back of the truck) and at the end finds it but falls a victim of Dreamcatcher becoming the 100th sacrifice hence completing the crown. JiU even refers herself as Nephthys who is actually the goddess of death, decay, and darkness, mother of Anubis and Shasha falls when JiU "places the crown" on her head. This lore is not in the video, there were some external clues to put together this part.

Some thoughts...
In the MV it's showing design, editing, production of photo shoots / mv all throughout. The song is calling out satirically the Aggressive Narcissistic Extravagance that many put on display when gaining more success and showing the production helps illustrate that it's all just a production by design and not necessarily real.
Such as the break in the middle where Handong is fighting Yoohyeon, but cut... and Handong's true self helps up Yoohyeon, separating them from what is being portrayed in the mv. The lyrics are satirically like many pop songs where they just brag about how awesome they are, so priceless, so gorgeous, so flawless, so spotless... they're beyond your reach, showing off what fashion they have, products they own and won't you try and join them buy buying similar products. There's a few hints potentially questioning it all. Do you feel like a monster? Hypnotize, make it dizzy. By they end you've been entranced and you're done for.
Yeah, that's pretty much it!
Also this song is part of a duology. So there will be another song most likely countering this one.

@@kevindean0000A thought just hit me yesterday thinking that it could very well be "Vigilantes." While "heroes" may sound a bit goofy, we also tend to have a very bright and colorful image associated with that type of word in general. "Vigilantes" makes us think about the Batman types of heroes in particular, which happens to match Dreamcatcher's darker concepts (plus, they get to still use the visual spiel of having the word start with V and ending with S alongside "VersuS")

This time DC & DCC marketing + promotional team really goes to another level in terms of concept. The mystery code + the ymenehcra99 accoun + the secret usb code in certain cafe + the narrative + the lyrics + the sequence of songs in the album => take us to journey of battle between Villains & InSomnia + cameo of Medusa. So many years other group try to utilize Dreamcatcher concept but always lack in certain area. But dreamcatcher play uno reverses card when they try mainstream concept they always doing extra effort, like putting rock flavour music, cohesive theme, in depth story and lore, top of the line vocal with less processing sound, hard hitting choreography they make sure fill up the check mark even with small detailing. the song may sound too poppish but the instrumental screams rock. In kpop, thats kinda new...sort of..It would be clearer if they give us the instrumental for this track.
Ootd is hip hop pop punk rock - they're blending too many genres (and i like it). I guess this style suits their lore and concept for this comeback. But tbh, it is a grower for some people...but an instant banger for some others
maybe later down the road, this song too would have the stamp of 'this is dreamcatcher' esp when other groups start to do like them (some groups are starting to do rock nowadays)

the song isnt poppish imo, but its still not as hardcore as their previous songs and concepts. in comparison, in the previous concept they were dystopian goddesses with titles like maison, vision, and bon voyage. the instrumental and vocals in their prev. songs are so apparently "rock" compared to this one. moreover with the lyrics, which in first listen probably seems so "generic" and too much of a "kpop bop" if you dont scrutinize enough. if you see any other groups doing this concept and song i doubt people will complain: its a girl crush song with a baddie concept. but i guess compared to deukae's previous works this sounds softer and underwhelming? maybe we (including me, im one of those "disappointed" insomnias) are too spoiled by how good the prev. songs and concepts are, that a comeback this detailed is still not enough for us lol

I know she's sang them in concerts and events, but there should be a re-recording, adding Handong's parts.
Rose blue is a collaboration so they likely can't make any changes there especially since it was produced by ESTi on the collaborator's side.
The Japanese tracks likely also would have similar problems produced by Pony Canyon and they no longer have a relationship with them.

I am really really enjoying this new comeback.
One a surface level, this song is pure vibes (and as a side note, enjoying a song this way is perfectly valid. Don’t yuck other people’s yums) - still maintaining the faithfulness to their rock sound whilst exploring different genres with it. And the surface level lyrics in the chorus are honestly a really fun “love yourself”.
However, it’s really easy (or should be) to see the deeper message and the set up of a new piece of lore-building. Through the MV and its displays of (evil) editing, photoshops, green screens and behind the scenes we are asked to consider “how real is this message? Is the message still valid at the cost of what goes into the production?” Also, who is the ‘villain’? Is it the girls, breaking free? Is it the production company, who organise all of this? Is it a fake or obsessed fan set in the MV world? Or is it us, the audience, who find it all too easy to recriminate and judge when DC don’t meet our self-imposed standards and ideals rather than judging each piece of work on its own qualities?

There's also something going on with a crown in this MV, several mentions of it in background text and it seems to glitch out reality (or this fits in with the evil editing you mentioned). On the surface this just looks like a badass era but there's definitely more to this than meets the eye

We can also see how she comunicate with someone that impersonates ymenehcra (but it isn't her/him because she/he were already sacrificed in that moment)

I think OOTD is really quite genius for (at least) 2 reasons:
number 1: you can enjoy it 2 ways 1. the first impression, self-love way (more mainstream appropriate) and 2. take the time and figure out the underlying meaning, finding all those dark details (in both the lyrics, the music and the mv)
number 2: reason number 1 reflects EXACTLY the deeper meaning: a lot of people take things superficially at face value and ignore the dark side of the "perfect" world they so admire and like that allow their own and celebrities exploitation
They didn't just spell the message out but instead are challenging our critical thinking.

1. It's weird that she is not seen with any other members aside from dancing. You can see HD/YH, SY/SU, JI/GH, GH/SU but not a single member was with Dami.
2. At the intro, you can see all 6 members' photos upon searching Dreamcatcher, but Dami is not a part of it. They could've found photos smaller to fit, but it was strange why they didn't.
3. Dami is not seen behind the scenes? You can see members fixing themselves or talking to the staff behind the scenes.

Aside from all the lore that permeates the video, at a simple level, we're watching an MV that portrays the production of an MV.
So, we're watching Dreamcatcher producing an MV where they're acting as a typical Kpop group and we see the real Dreamcatcher when it cuts and shows behind the scenes. This just reinforces the style choices of the song and the MV within the MV and the reasons why they were done that way to support the lore.
Even so, their version of a typical Kpop group sound is still very much Dreamcatcher sounding, since while they veered into a Girl Crush sound, there aren't much if any actual Girl Crush groups that sound like this song. You'd likely have to delve more into boy groups for that search.
To anyone who is curious about what happened to Ymenehcra - there were 7 usb's which were given to insomnia who went to a certain café and ordered "the crown". Those usb's contain audio files. When combined, you get a short conversation between the members. Turns out that they are luring others, one of which was Ymenehcra, the 99th person. Now they only need one more sacrifice to complete the crown. That's Shasha, the 100th person.
