    What a fabulous presentation, and what a collection - so much knowledge and information imparted so clearly in just eight minutes or so. I could watch these all day, every day. Thanks for sharing your amazing - and unmatched - GWH collection.
    note: you failed to mention that the Tube Helmet also trims your hair while you’re wearing it - I didn’t know that…..

      Thank you very much, Fenella, we really appreciate your kind comments and congratulations! You are the first person to spot our cheeky haircut! We thought it would be a bit of fun! 😆

    Presentations like this give you a much deeper appreciation for what the men endured during The Great War. May they all rest in peace.

    It's surprising how simple and effective the gas hoods were considering how quickly they were brought into service; necessity being the mother of invention at its finest!
    Another excellent video, thanks.

    Wow ! That has got to be one of the most comprehensive explanations of the gas hoods on the Web anywhere. Well done GWH team ! 👏

      Thank you very much indeed, Mo! It’s a bit longer than most HutVents but we thought it was worth doing. 😊

    Fascinating as always Taff, it’s just a dreadful shame that hutvent is only limited to December!

    Excellent explanation on gas hoods. My G Grandad's cousin was killed in 2nd Ypres with 1st KORL and I've never concluded if he was involved in the 1st gas attack. Can we please have a few more days before Christmas. The series is great.

    Dr. MacPherson was a Canadian. Well, he was born a Newfoundlander but died a Canadian, since Newfoundland became a province of Canada in 1949 and he died in 1966.

    What’s it like inside the hood - as in how easily could you shoot, run, etc. ?

    • @GreatWarHuts
      @GreatWarHuts  Před 2 lety +3

      With training most fellas had no problem with the hoods. They were cumbersome but you could certainly see to aim rifles. Running was harder of course, but everyone was in the same position, including the Germans.
