This is the most beautiful song Cat Stevens ever wrote. I am surprised to hear he has not sang it for thirty years. I love it so much. I have listened to it hundreds of times. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You know a song is superb when it sounds as fresh and relevant as it did almost 50 years ago.
I always think of my beloved companion and wife to be..She passed away many years ago.
Always brings me to tears .
This is such a special song for me. My mum lost her battle with mental health 10 years ago. She was 56. I carried her into, and out of the church to say good bye to her one last time, with this beautiful song playing. Her favourite song. I’d spent hours sat by her hospital bed whilst she lied in a coma playing all Cat’s songs. I love this song because it was her favourite. But she had wonderful memories of Cat herself. And I listen to it, and I don’t just get sad because I love and miss her so much. I can be happy for the wonderful memories it gave her.
She grew up in 60’s London as a teenager. The swinging 60’s. Her and her best friend Madeline, would finish school and go to a cafe/ tea room which I believe she said was in Oxford street in London. They would hang out there for hours every evening. Meet their friends and be teenagers. The son of the owners would hang around with them, my mum said he was lovely lad, and she would always pester him to take her out on a date. They shared a lot of laughs together. Often the girls would try and get the lads brother to come downstairs and join them. But he rarely, if ever did. He was a shy lad. And wanted to concentrate on his music. Always playing his guitar. My mum would tell me this story and always say, she was chasing the wrong brother. She should have tried harder to get Cat to come downstairs and join them.
