If you know details the Battle of Wizna is even more crazy.
There was 42 thousands German soldiers with around 350 tanks and artillery and air support versus around 700 Polish soldiers with couple dozen heavy machine guns and couple light anti-tank guns. So actual comparison of force is more like 60:1.
And it's not like it was some one-of-a-kind event. Battle of Bzura where outnumbered 2:1 Polish divisions held out for 10 days or Battle of Westerplatte where small contingent of Polish soldiers was supposed to defend their position for 1 day but they held it for an entire week and surrendered only because their supplies were running low.
Your reaction is why Sabaton does these sort of songs. The events, the soldiers, the battles, etc. etc.. should be remembered lest thier deeds, sacrifices, and stories, be forgotten. And what better way to immortalize these events in the collective conciousness of humanity, than through song? Sabaton doesn't glorify war. They tell how it was, regardless of outcome or "which side".
The song 40-1 speaks of the Defense of the Wiza in Poland. Defense of Wizna - the battle that took place on 7-10 September 1939 in the area of Wizna, north-east of Łomża. The Wizna resistance point was formed by the unfinished (modernized) line of fortifications since the spring of 1939, stretching over several kilometers and forming part of the permanent fortifications on the section Wizna - Strękowa Góra (inclusive) - Osowiec-Twierdza (including the Osowiec Fortress) - Goniądz (including ). According to German war strategists, Wizna was the weakest link in this defense line. The defenders under the command of Kapitna Władysław Raginis, apart from unfinished shelters, had - 6 light cannons, 24 heavy machine guns, 18 machine guns, 2 anti-tank rifles. The German Army under the command of General Heinz Guderian had - about 42 thousand. soldiers,
350 tanks, 657 mortars, guns and grenade launchers, Luftwaffe aviation support. The Germans thought they would beat the Poles right away. And they were struggling for 3 days

Battle of Hodów (11.06.1694) - Battle also known as Polish Thermopylae. A clash where 400 hussars and medium cavalrymen successfully repelled the attack of about 40,000 Tatars and forced the enemy to retreat.

Oh yeah floor Jansen is married to the current drummer Hanne Van Dahl.
The band has had a few reorganisations since the live at Woodstock festival in 2012 including changing of the drummer and two guitarists. Joakim (singer) and Par (lead guitar) haven’t changed since they founded the band.
These guys still tour they last touring in 2020 they had to call off due to Covid. I was called The great tour based on their 2019 album The Great War. Based on World War 1.

Dude, please do Eluveitie! Rebirth first, then other songs. They are a Swiss folk metal band and they combine metal instruments with folk instruments like flute, violin, and bagpipes. There is other cool stuff about them, but I'm not revealing until you watch them! 😂

The war they sing about is a war called "world war 2". A war fought between alot of nations all over the globe during 6 years. But it all started when Germany ruled by Adolf Hitler invaded Poland 1 september 1939.
The event they sing about is "Battle of Wizna", and it was between 7-10 of September. While the war was pretty fresh and no Allied nation wanted to "dance along" leaving Poland by its own.
You mentioned that you are an American(I guess USA?).USA did actually join this war after the "Attack on Pearl Harbor" 4 December 1941, USA was allied against Germany.
Sabaton don't take sides, they don't push opinions or views.
They tell history. "This happened". And every sabaton song will teach you something.
One concept I like to do is to look at the "Sabaton history"-channel and hear all about a specific song. The listen to the song afterwards. Maybe this can be something you do while we watch :)

you think 40:1 is impressive from a military standpoint. Try Resist and Bite. THe song is about unit on the Belgian border who was only 40 rifles strong, and they held off the freaking Ghost Division (possibly the most feared Panzer division in the Wehrmacht) for a few days.
