    Its amazing to think the Greving Mother went through everything everyone else did, and yet not one member of the team noticed but the Watcher, not even Thaos. Eder was literally mayor of the town she lives in and he never realized he helped to defeat Thaos by her side. Talk about a shy woman lol

      More of a walking ghost. Yes she was alive, but could you truly say she was living. Girl literally wiped all traces of her existence do to greaf.

    Thaos is one of my favorite characters ever. The voice actor is excellent.

      Yea he killed it. Thaos is pretty underrated as the antagonist of Pillars. Wish he had a bit more presence in the early game. Would love a hypothetical prequel where you can have him as a companion.

      Wyatt Johnston For his credit, Wael is a really convenient deity and in an absurdist way, the most realistic. Do things have to have an explicit reason for happening? Who knows, who cares. Wael abides.
      Its rather hilarious in PoE: Deadfire when the gods discuss why their contingency plans failed with the Watcher and Wael is jumping up and down in the background loosing their shit because Magran and Berath are giving away 'secrets' and it's actually really minor stuff they admit kith would have discovered eventually, but to Wael it's the end of the world.

    I still haven't figured out why Thaos doesn't say anything to the Grieving Mother. At first I thought it was a bug but I guess she hides herself even from someone like Thaos.

      MessengerOfHell I have a conspiracy theory that she was added late in development, and her story was retrofitted to meet deadlines. Could also be why she’s unavailable til so late in the game, too.

      @christophermanners1582 Před 6 lety +39

      She's available whenever you decide to go to the Dyrwood village. You can pick her up early in the game if you want to. I think the OP is right. Thaos doesn't address her because he doesn't even notice her.

    • @PedroHenrique-pu9fp
      @PedroHenrique-pu9fp Před 3 lety +13

      Actually, she dont want to be seen, she makes her cipher things and makes that everyone see her like a grieving mother, or a random woman.
      In the Edér quest, if you make her "read" the old war relic, Edér will say that he don't know how a "random person" is going to help.

    • @kevind3974
      @kevind3974 Před 3 lety +2

      Ya she’s a weird one because we see her as she is but nobody else can. Maby if she was in the second game sev could do to him being a more powerful cipher then her but even with that in perspective I would not be surprised if she still was a ghost to him.
      The lady’s alive but the only difference she has from ghosts is the fact she tangable

    • @SaftonYT
      @SaftonYT Před 2 lety +4

      Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that. On the one hand the easy answer would be to dismiss it as saying "She doesn't even register to him" either because she's in her peasant woman guise or he literally does not perceive her... but both of those bring up problems of their own. Thaos would presumably address a rando old peasant who journeyed into Sun in Shadow with the Watcher out of morbid/amused curiosity if nothing else. And if he couldn't perceive her then that makes GM far more powerful than we ever imagined... which again is neat but poses issues in my opinion.
      After all, Lady Webb is supposrd to have been an exceptionally talented and potent cipher. That's why Thaos had an interest in her in the first place. But even she said she was unable to pierce the vault that was his mind. We know from Concelhaut that mental wards are a thing in-universe and it makes sense that Thaos of all beings would have mastered them, considering his divine favor, age, and dominion over the soul/various arcane energies. It doesn't seem far-fetched to me that he would notice the Grieving Mother's presence in some fashion.
      I'm just disappointed because I really enjoyed her character and felt like an exchange between the two of them could have been quite enjoyable.

    Kana has the best comeback, you can feel that he hit a nerve on Thaos voice.

    They he delivers that 'You are here because you are lost.' is so brimming with confidence that you can't help but see some truth in it. Many of them did follow the Watcher because they were indeed... lost.

    I'll admit I didn't realize he was voiced by Todd Haberkorn till looking up the cast of the game. Great range and job by Todd on voicing Thaos!

      The hollowborn thing was a rather dumb move tbh, and a prime example of why animancy is bad to boot. That being said - he's clearly being more thoughtful than Iovara "I Know The Truth™" ix Ensios.

    I wonder if the creators of this game were thinking of Thanos when they made Thaos? Seeing that he has the power to steal and destroy souls is compatible to snapping people out of existence. O_O
