Wycoller Village Walk | A Beautiful English Village In Scenic Countryside

Wycoller village may date back to the 10th century BC. Central to the village are the ruins of 16th-century Wycoller Hall. Various ancient bridges cross Wycoller Beck, including 'Pack-Horse Bridge', a twin arched bridge in the centre of the village, 'Clapper Bridge' (also known as Hall Bridge) and 'Clam Bridge' (also known as Bank House Bridge). The last is believed to be of neolithic origin (possibly 6000 years old) and is listed as an ancient monument. It consists of just a long stone laid across the river.

Lovely- as a Brit living in the US for 40+ years, this is the UK weather of my childhood - always the soft rain, the breezes, the grey clouds. Here it's mostly bright sunshine & just a few rainy days. I remember when the idea of a barbecue was something never discussed in England - that's how much this video is like my childhood weather. Thanks for a great visit to a historic old house, sad that it's such a ruin now, but seeing the low doorways reminds you how short people were in those days ! Very interesting.

Walking after the rain is especially useful! That's what my sister says, she is an otorhinolaryngologist - doctor 👩⚕️👩⚕️👩⚕️💊💉. I myself like to walk after the rain, when it's fresh and humid outside. The water in the pond is clear, clean, you can see all the pebbles and ducks quack, call ducks. Ferns grow everywhere. Loved every minute. So calming, listening to the gently flowing streams disappearing under the arches of a beautiful stone bridge, interspersed by the fluting sounds of birds, and then quite suddenly entering a different world , where brooding stillness spreads across the crumbling rooms of a historic building.
What was it once, a mansion, a school?
Can it be restored to its former glory?
The massiveness of the stones used for the walls floor, alcoves and deep set windows, speaks evocatively of an era when everything from houses to personal beliefs shared the same solidity.

Thank you Sarah, I appreciate your nice comment. It is an old Manor house with a great history, which is linked to the Bronte Sisters from Howarth. I doubt it could be rebuilt now. It is a lovely little place is Wycoller. Thanks again.

Wow! I intended to watch only a few minutes but it was so interesting and beautiful I had to ' walk' the whole route😄! wonderfull video,really i loved the villageside of uk! but small suggestions: please give the name of the village in the subtitle , if you show a historical place or building please give some details about it on subtitles within a line ! it will be very usefull for viewerse ,they neednot to go description! thank you very much and love from india,tamilnadu state!
