It would have been absolutely criminal had they not been inducted. THE POLICE have a well-deserved place in music history. I will love them always. ❤

Something I just realized... the music, being played, is chronological from synchronicity-outlandos... cool little touch.

Hard to comprehend Sting placing his solo aspirations ahead of his fullest potential as a musician where nothing he ever achieved as a solo performer came close to replicating the chemistry and magic thar comes from working with Andy Summers and Stewart Armstrong Copeland.

They were the product of pure chance (read One Train Later) bringing together so much musically that did not fit at the time but which they would configure - the songs were OK, the musicality was excellent, but the dynamic of the members ensured destruction. As always, money calls the shots. Mr Sumner has already written a swag of tunes while in No Exit, a band from Sheffield. These pieces included many later Police hits and even songs he held onto and recorded in his "solo" career. The trio pushed one another to a creative stasis. Like the Bebop pioneers, this was always meant to be Pop music played with fresh intelligence, and always to make a lot of money. The Copeland Brothers steered the rise of the band tactically. Success is not only about talent. There's spade work for strong stomachs. Music is a filthy business ... Persona goes a long way. There were many jazz and fusion musicians as talented - but the Public is conservative for the most part and simply does not listen to music that takes fresh ears ...

I saw them live on the GITM tour and while musically good I have to say the show itself was boring.
