I'm pretty sure The Covenant's poster is actually supposed to be a play on the old The Craft poster. Which makes sense actually, like I can totally see this movie being pitched as "the sexy male version of the craft for modern teen girls" lol

I watched the entire 14-movie Air Bud franchise this year, so it’s safe to say I’ve seen some bad ones. the last movie has aliens in it… that was my rock bottom.

The Covenant is my all time favourite bad movie. It was my sexual awakening as a kid, thank you Sebastian and Steven and (Renny Harlin).
I first watched the covenant to thirst after Sebastian Stan and Steven Strait but not even their sex appeal could save the movie. To this day, I've never watched the full thing because it literally puts me to sleep 😂
(also the racism in little Italy is probably the most italian thing in the movie)

actually i remember pre-movie twilight fandom REALLY wanting the sky high fire guy to be cast as jacob in the movie. like you can still find twilight movie fan MVs with him and emily browning.

If you don't like the film then don't watch it; I, for one, enjoyed it even though some of the casting choices seemed off. Danny Aelo rest in peace.
You guys are a bunch of haters; just watch the film and enjoy the Italian culture...plus Emma Roberts and Christian Hayden (sp) are a bonus.
Steven Crowder also had a small role in "Stand By Me" -- they brought him on when they needed to start the crowd vomiting.

I put on a lot of bad movies while at work. I watched The Girl Next Door on Tubi (one of the many named that). It’s crazy how many in the movies in the 90s painted men who have sex with “seduced” by teens as a person we’re supposed to root for. I’m sorry 90s cinema but I will not feel bad for a mediocre white man who can’t keep it in his pants. Those days have passed.
Yeah Tubi is a favorite of mine, it seems like the burial ground for those types of movies lol

OK the covenant holds a very special place in my heart - for the absolute longest, it was my friends and my favorite good bad movie. We watched it every Halloween, we all had our favorite of the group, I even wrote a fanfiction about it as a wee teen - I love that movie so much, cringe and all lol

the worst movie I’ve watched this year is get a job- my alison brie addiction is constantly being challenged by her TERRIBLE movie choices. it was honestly just not funny at all despite allegedly being a comedy movie. my summer is boring, as expected, but I kinda like boring. and no I haven’t sensually eaten pizza on a first date, but don’t get me wrong, I would!

I mean I assume you thought it went without saying but I think you really have to acknowledge how Covenant was clearly trying to do a male version of The Craft, down to the poster and was trying to get the same demographic.
Hayden Christensen is part Italian though. The problem is that they insisted on making the family all Sicilian and not say Neapolitan which are what they could more pull off.
From your description it sounds like the Covenant was made for me specifically

Omg me too except with my sister my mom and grandma introduced us to them and then we became obsessed… every single story is insane and most of the time really bad but I love to hate watch things so I can’t stop with the lifetime or hallmark movies (but WAY more lifetime then hallmark since I love a good horror or drama or mystery)

I was 14 when the covenant came out and teenage movies portrayed teenage boys that way, i feel like it’s because they were “the bad boys with a good heart”, but also i think we didn’t understood misogyny as much (or i didn’t).
1. I'm so happy The Covenant finally gets the recignition it deserves by someone! I discovered it a few years ago and it instantly became my fav guilty pleasure movie (besides Charlie's Angels 2 & Waterworld). Yeah, I'm queer.
2. Fun fact: Little Italy was literally titled Pizza Romance in Hungary.

Omg thank you for talking about Little Italy. I had no idea what it was when I watched it. I was just scrolling Netflix and settled on it because it looked dumb, which was what I was in the mood for. I tried to describe it to my friend and I didn't even know where to begin. Aside from the blatant racism, the scene where the cop is feeling up Hayden Christensen won't leave my brain. It was written to be funny, but the concept isn't funny and if it had been done to Emma Roberts's character, it would've been horrifying to a much wider audience... but I guess because Hayden Christensen is a man, I'm supposed to think it's hilarious. Everyone responsible for this movie should just spend some time reflecting on being whatever the opposite of this is.

An underappreciated gem in British media is a 2008 mini series (142 minutes, but having it divided into 5 episodes adds to it IMO) Dead Set. The British version of Big Brother is filming/airing, as a zombie outbreak occurs.
I don't remember how I found it, probably on Hulu, when I was interested in how reality TV handled 9/11 so I watched the first seasons of Survivor and Big Brother, which watching the progression of those shows when you can watch a decade at a time is something else.

It was so horrible but I also adore it and I can’t stop thinking about how weird it was. It’s a juke box musical, which I didn’t know going in, and that made the experience infinitely more entertaining/horrifying

To answer your question about why they would cast Non-Italian actors to play the leads. Apparently this is a remake of the movie Mystic Pizza which was Julia Roberts first big movie, so that's why they casted her niece Emma Roberts to play the lead. In the poster you show, Emma is wearing the same shirt Julia Roberts wears as her uniform.

I just watched 'My Son' on Roku. It stars James McAvoy and Claire Foy as divorced parents of a boy who was kidnapped from sleep away camp, all set in Scotland. I don't think the accents were that great, it moved quickly but generally didn't make much sense. Definitely seemed like it was trying to be a Scottish version of Taken, but the dad wasn't as well connected and just a dad. 2/5 stars.
