Everyone misses this, and it's critical to the song. When he goes to the third on the electric guitar riff he bends the B string downward almost a half step while not bending the G string which creates dissonance between the notes. It's the little something that makes this song so great.
Would like to say a massive thank you to you. I’ve been trying to learn the picking notes by ear but stumbled across your video. Fantastic tutorial, easy to follow and clear instructions. Well done you! Thanks again
Excellent breakdown. I can hear and apply what a lot of creative guitarists are doing in their music, but this one puzzled me quite a bit. Johnny is interesting for sure. I obviously need to listen to this guy some more.
Ive watched a lot of your videos. I really appreciate all the extra info you throw in. You do it in a way that it is unobtrusive to the video, still managing to keep everything relevant and speedy. I know this video is 4 years old, but I appreciate you!
Thank you for all your great lessons . Been working on Someone saved my life tonight by Elton John . Great version starting off with D , G and C , Capo on 2cnd fret . Can't figure out the rest tho . If you ever get the urge that would be awesome . Keep up the great work ! Good stuff .
OK, trying to work on this whole music theory stuff more and more. Even on a simple song like this, it's sometimes hard. Is this actually in G major, with vi chord played major? Seems like it, since the E major seems dissonant and the solo is in E minor pentatonic, G major's relative minor. Am I right, or is this another example of someone just throwing some chords together and seeing what they like?
Hey Ryan, could you do a lesson on “whale and wasp” by Alice In Chains for the acoustic guitar? It’s seriously so beautiful, and there’s no good lessons on CZcams to follow plus I can’t read tabs that well lol
thanks for the AIC request Scooby Dooby! I can assure you I'll consider it every time they come up on the wheel of destiny, and it will get done eventually :)
Bloody hell ive got this new fender amp and it’s so confusing I’ve got like 200 different preset sounds and I don’t know what one to choose for this song
Whaaaaaaaaat 😆 thanks Ryan.... when I saw the title I got excited ..... now doubly so! ✌️❤️🤘 PS headed to Vancouver for work tomorrow... Gona sneak in The Who show..... Eddie did a cameo last night at the Seattle show.... pearl jam adjacent !!
@@RyanLendt Low got some love from the Jamily... guilty pleasure alert. I'm sure by the time you read this I would of already told you that Eddie did a song in Vancouver last night, Quadrophenia ... the stranger next to me got a half hug...it was awkward.... for him lol
It saddens me that CZcams has flagged the Like Mew-icide videos over a silly word that isn't even that offensive... Now people will miss out on three tremendous instances of good time-ing to be had :( I also bring you a question and a request on this fine Sunday. The question: Is it to be concluded from the absence of a Like Mew-icide Soundgarden acoustic version that it is exactly the same as the electric version? (Or close enough to render a seperate video obsolete?) Specifically the bridge part as discussed via email, I know the rest of the song is the same :) The request: I think you would enjoy tinkering with Chris Cornell's cover of A Day In The Life by the Beatles :)
I'm glad to report that it's not that tragic - just no ads will appear on the video. I'll just lose out on a few bucks a month. Nothing too bananas :) (depending, i suppose, on the price of bananas)
Can you teach angel eyes by Jeff Healey from the album songs from the road. He does a cool near the end that I really want to learn. Thanks, Keep up the great work
Hi Ryan, I haven't heard from you for awhile. How's things in 2024? so far. I just got a Yamaha Revstar element, which is probably the last guitar I buy. So good song to break it in. I've heard this song a million times and just found out the name and band that plays it, not good huh? How's your band getting along?
Hi Ryan, well I came back to freshen it up and realized I returned the Yamaha for a Squire telecaster with humbuckers, really cool. Hey what's the name of your band? Are they on you tube?
10/20/19. Hey Ryan, thanks for sharing that your last 3 videos were demonetized because of a word in your thumbnail. Wow! That’s ridiculous that you were demonetized over that word! Did they demonetize you after the first video or the third video? But a corporation like CBS TV can use that word a bazillion times and their videos wouldn’t be demonetized. I said in my previous comment that I would say a prayer after you used that word in your last 3 videos because I was taught as a young boy in my Catholic teachings that you don’t go to heaven if you do that. Take care, Ryan.
they curiously did not catch the middle video! It's all that one guy's fault for going into the japanese forest a couple years ago... while that was wrong and shouldn't have happened, folks are too sensitive.
@@RyanLendt Okay. I can accept that. but for some reason in my spaced out brain a minor would make more sense, given the chords, you're gonna have that open G string in the Em, and then in the G.

I have a perhaps odd request, Ryan- I Don’t Wanna by The Call. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard it before, but you should if you haven’t
I have not - but I would like to... thank you so much for alerting me Andrea :)

For some odd reason, Em sounds better in place of E Major. Guessing it’s because it’s the 6th degree of G. I really think this tune is in G Major.
Thanks

Awesome stuff as always! Maybe in the future do Refugee by Tom Petty :) ?
I think it's safe to say that all things Tom Petty are fair game - Thanks JV!
