      They started to shrink some time in the 80s I believe, if you look at a Ranger from let's say '73 you'd find a full size Ford.

    Man did that thing smooth out to sound sweeter'n apple pie. Real stoked about the bodywork and interior condition too - someone really loved that truck once. Uncle Rick scored himself a good'n for sure. Great work, Puddin'. Good to see another old beast headed back to the road where she belongs - and even though I'm a GM bloke first and foremost, a win is a win and a classic is a classic when all's said and done.

    • @KiwiStag74
      @KiwiStag74 Před 3 lety

      I was a GM bloke in a family of Ford fanatics. Dad had so many different Fords over the years and I was out in the garage helping him modify most of them. First rebuild I did that wasn't a lawnmower was a Ford 711M crossflow engine - at the age of 13. Ran well too. My voice broke when I cussed at it a couple of times (when the old man wasn't around of course) when I reground the valve seats, so I remember it quite well.
      Finally brought home my first GM after 5 years of pretending and thought the old man was gonna throw up on it! He treated my "disloyalty" like I was coming out the closet or something. Conversation went pretty similar to how I've heard it happens too - "How can you like GM when there are so many good looking Fords that have been in your life? Hell - you even BUILT an engine for one and owned a couple more! Don't expect me to like what you're doing, boy. Not sure as I want you to bring it round here either - what will the neighbours think?"
      Sure as I am sitting here though, he took one drive of it and then every now and again would steal my keys, or I'd catch him looking at it with a pensive expression. He eventually owned several and never bought a Ford again. You could say he learned the error of his ways! Strange how things happen sometimes.
      I do love that yellow truck though. She looked and sounded real good and to be honest, I'd be happy calling it my own.

    I think the paint on the B pillars and top was to match a camper that rode in the bed during it’s early life. Dad had a 73 Super Camper Special with a 460 V-8 and C6 transmission. When I was a teenager I was useless. I stole it outta the yard one day while dad was at work and tore a farmer’s cornfield all to pieces with it. It’s one of those stupid things that I did that I was so ashamed of when I finally grew into a man. Dad lived to be 82 and every once in a while he’d mention it and laugh.

Sat till about 04. Then the old tree trimmer guy I used to work for got it. And I was like are you going to junk in. He said no this is a brand new truck. And I was like yeah right well we had to pull it about 2 miles before the clutch would come unstuck from the flywheel. We got it running I drove it like a car till about 2010. always loved the Ranger series except those boxes built in the bedsides,I owned a 77 XLT bought new and cared for but it didn't stop it from corrosion on the opposite side it had a foot hole that didn't rust now trucks aren't as simple no more of the characteristics of days gone by now I own my third 79 Bronco but this one is my first Ranger XLT I bought as a parts rig then I have my daughter the second one I bought in Alaska as a wedding gift so I started gathering the parts that I used to make it 100%,like others finding parts aren't easy but it's close to being done I look to your channel as inspiration to keep working on it after 15 years and 3 heart attacks and a stroke killing a chamber of my heart I'm thankful the hardest is done

    I had a 74 short bed long time ago and it was the same kind of yellow I think it's like a mustard color. I always called it baby poop yellow and then I had a bump side 69 3/4 ton camper special. With a 390 engine. I think that's got a C6 transmission in it. dang for 72 she looks really good. My old 69 the roof was all rusted out. I literally put expandable fom in it shaved it off on the outside skim coat of Bondo and white paint over it. In that bed on Rick's truck I actually looks really good mine was rusted all around the edges the middle. But other than that it was a damn good running truck.

    Paint was custom from the shop, probably only 6500 painted like that. I've got a 77 chevy that has a seafoam green and side boxes in the bed, there was only 5,000 painted like that - the Chevy guys were surprised that it lasted throughout the years. Great find!

    If the glove box opens without having to be hammered you got a good one. You can buy a marti report that will tell you everything about the truck.
