The only thing that breaks my mind with aespa (or with SM groups in general), is how SM really wants to emphasize the Musicality (specially Vocals) of their artists. NO ONE else in the 4th gen rookie groups is going as far as Winter and Ningning can go. aespa pretty much just hard gaps other idol group and setting the bars so high that idek if any company can replicate.

@@jensoo6982 Purple kiss do have the potential to do this with their vocalists but I don't think I've actually heard them go off the way Ningning and Winter did here. Honestly I'd love them to do this.
Jen Soo yes purple kiss has so many amazing vocalists but the difference is that it doesn’t showcase their abilities, so they probably won’t be well known as powerful vocalist, while aespa has the belting in their title tracks.

I think this song has the same format as Next Level but the difference is that the transitions in each sections of the song were more fluid, same but very different at the same time because of the kind of instrumentals too. Aespa really flexed their singing, rapping and dancing so hard on this one.
EDIT: I meant by how the song look like it's a combination of 2 or more songs like Next Level, not format as in on how the song was structured, however for me the transitions in between the songs in Savage were more like free-flowing compared to Next Level, I don't know if everyone will get it but well, it's just my opinion. I love Next Level btw, lol.

SM's signature is experimental and our idols have the best vocals 1000%. With NCT and Aespa. The rapping has gone Next Level too. Even with EXO Chanyeol's rapping skill is pretty insane, especially on the b-side in The War album.
SM knew what they were doing when they first released Next Level. They released Next Level for audience to get familiarised with the experimental format that they plan on using with Aespa's future songs & promotions. As an SM stan I'm already familiar with this format but SM did an amazing job to introduce this genre to the new general public who had just indulged in KPOP genre.

That prechorus is honestly the best prechorus I’ve ever heard in kpop.lots of vocal flex in that part🔥🔥🔥I really like winter vocals there.
I agree!! I love the vocals and like the vocal overlays/harmonies in that part which I didn't realize until I had headphones on.
Some people have difficulties understanding the concepts of SM groups but I just LOVE every single one of them especially Nct and Aespa's they're very unique and different

I just loooove how SM didnt stray from their identity. Been there since TVXQ days and i hear aespa belting signature SM high notes. SM is that company dead set on leading trends, not following. Risky but theyre nailing it.

Jeff yelling in 69 octaves higher than usual is exactly the vibe!!! Hands down the most interesting song SM has released in quite a long while. The producing team and Yoo Young Jin literally pulled all the tricks up their sleeves on this track. Got you overwhelmed and suffocated till the very last second of the song, constantly anticipating the next transition and man did it absolutely paid off

The Analysis of the Savage
First of all, the Savage is about the story of aespa to beat the snake. The lyrics is mainly about the militancy of provocation and the naevis suspected death. But is it really that simple? Judging from the music video and lyrics,aspea seems to have won the battle against the Black Mamba. But as a big boss who keeps rendering, is it really that easy to beat it?
Personally, the lyrics mention hallucinations, including the fact that the space they are in has various colored liquids flowing into it in the music video. However, the Black Mamba beat by aespa actually is not a real Black Mamba, but a part of itself. And the body of the Black Mamba is on Karina. In the MV, Karina's ae has been completely turned into the bad one, just like Harry Potter's Lord Voldemort. The Black Mamba is not a single entity, and their all-powerful fight to the black mambba may just defeat the illusionary.
So, Karina is trusted, she cooperate with Winter. And the eye that appears so many times in the MV also shows that aespa has been monitored by the Black Mamba.
However, Giselle's lyrics mentioned ''abyss''again. And in Giselle's lyrics, there is always''abyss'', so this time it forced her to enter the stage which is not ready. In the MV, there are various virtual Giselle, it seems that she has a resistance to the black mamba. In fact, in the first few times, Giselle is neutral, she has no special hostility to the Black Mamba, but has been staring at the abyss, and for this, she may be bitten back. In Giselle's rap, she said she wants everyone to look at me, which is why I think she will work with the Black Mamba.
For Winter, she is the combatant. In her lyrics, we can know that her desire to fight the Black Mamba is the most.(I will crush you) One of her lyrics is that she is trapped in a transparent house, suggesting that Winter may be aware that their current battle is like a game rather than a real battle, and it's also related to the fact that Winter often plays video games, so she is more likely to detect. Finally, Winter sings the high note with bullets breaking the glass, also corresponding to the scene that they are trapped in a glass house. In the end, they succeed, but Winter turns around, indicating that she's clearly aware that the Black Mamba isn't dead. Meanwhile, a flood of black water is pouring in, confirming that the real battle has just begun.
Ning is a hacker and an absolute attacker. And her background is emoji, which matches her identity as an electronic attacker. Ning's lyrics mention the regenerative power of the Black Mamba.
Actually, the song is very contradictory. The lyrics are provocative and full of will to fight, but in the MV, you can clearly feel that they are being watched and trapped. Naevis may have run out of energy and died trying to open the door for them, but at the same time, Naevis, just like the Black Mamba, may have the power to regenerate. Maybe the Black Mamba exists because of desire, however, the Naevis exists because of love.

the second verse slapped and i did like this song more on the first listen than next level but now it grew on me immensely and I like it! i wish they had the glass breaking when the chorus drops in the Spotify or audio player thingy but it’s ok! And the second rap verse was way too good!
