We Irish were inspired by the black civil rights movement in the US and we Took inspiration from if during Our own struggles this is a Solidarity Cry in Honour of that
It's not the idea, it's the action. I can't listen to this without crying. Mavis is everything. You guys should watch the version of modern day activists listening to this song.
Just here to second this 10000000% lol. Incredibly powerful.
what video was this? and can you link it? I can't see the vid for some reason
@@zjuriel7510 i can't find it either :(
@@zjuriel7510it's the 'official video' version. It should be the 2nd option listed on the CZcams search results with Hozier in the thumbnail 👍🏾💜 -x-
Finally! A reaction that realizes what the song is about! Mavis Staples is a legend!
"Is he taking us to church?" LOL! Literally asking that of the artist that created the song "Take Me Church." 😂 Great reaction. Love you guys. ❤
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE More Hozier! It’s a rabbit hole like no other!
I'm Irish, like Hozier, we understand suppression and understand our black American comrades
Nina did in fact cry “Power”
In her song sinnerman. Hozier has credited Nina Simone as one of his greatest inspirations.
First time hearing this. I need this song in my playlist. I LOVE Mavis Staples. She is a national treasure. An international treasure (I'm in Canada). Hozier has such a gorgeous voice and this, for me, is heaven in my ears. I love Nina Simone too. She was a power in one.
i get chills EVERYTIME i listen to the this version
Nina cried power for real!!!! Mavis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an amazing song-the lyrics are so powerful! And Mavis Staples is everything! Hozier is a lyrical master.
it's not enough to be woke -- we have to rise, to stand against intimidation, hate, and cruelty, to plant our feet solidly -- in solidarity --and declare: "NO. NOT ANYMORE. NEVER AGAIN." we must drive those evil things away and reach out for one another in unity, love, and kindness.
POWER! 💖
As an Irish person, I don’t think people from the black community realise how much we relate and respect them. Your struggle is very relatable to ours. It will never be the exact same. Because no two experiences are the same. But we really appreciate your struggle alot and I’m so sorry that people didn’t have the empathy or conscience to be decent human people.
