I used to live in Rowerdennan before moving to Vancouver and remember seeing him in Concert in Vancouver. The show was excellent and Dougie was a really lovely guy. Staying after the show and having a drink and chat with everyone, no Aires and graces, no ego, just a lovely fellow.

Dougie McLean is a gifted talented songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist. It is so clear he is often dubbed the “James Taylor of Scotland”. Listening to him talk about his love for music, performing and telling stories about his upbringing and working with other musicians is enjoyable to hear. I had the pleasure seeing Dougie 2 times at the Grand in Ellsworth, Maine. He was very open and approachable and I talked to him for a few minutes after those 2 shows. He’s very sincere and he’s the real deal, nothing fake about him at all. Hey Dougie…when you read this when will you be coming back to Maine? Please come back 😀. David Page.

I saw Dougie at the Edmonton Folk festival back in '02, i think. In his intro he said that he encountered a very drunk man outside of a pub in Glasgow singing Caledonia to his rapidly departing wife.
