  • I've been looking to replace my Mackie SRM-Flex with something that has a similar knob based mixer. Something that would be easy for my rental customers to use. Also something that would be a little higher quality than the Mackie SRM-Flex. I decided to try the Yamaha STAGEPAS 1K.. Here's the unboxing! Thoughts will come later!

      Thanks! I'm finally hitting the point where I need to buy some more gear. Rotate a few things out and sell them so I should have more videos coming if things manage to be in stock. Lol

      @@TheAngrySoundTech I was considering the stagepas 1K because I love my DZR 15s and DXS 18 XLF so much. I’m looking for something that can handle my sub 100 person events.

      Don't rush out and buy one quite yet. I'll have an initial thoughts video coming soon.

    Looked and listened to the Yamaha but purchased the HK Audio Polar 10, even has a proper compression driver for tops

    LD 28 G3 & LD 44 G2 are the only way to go for Column arrays. Mackie needs to do an upgrade. Maybe a SRV or DRM Flex column array speaker. Turbosound iP2000 and 3000 are sweet as well.

    I love my Yamaha speakers - we have quite a lot. I agree on the Stagepas - easy to use and sound okay. I expect the 1k to sound good.

      The 1K has a unique sound to it. It can hit highs and has clarity not found in other column arrays but the trade off is it's not as full sounding in the mids. I've got quite a few thoughts I'll put in my next video. I liked it enough to order a second one but I don't think it would work for everyone.

    But you were unlucky, my 2 Mackie are straight and cannot be bent and sit tight. The sound is more balanced and clearer than the K1. It was compared with 7 different columns. RCF J8 and the K1 sound almost in comparison right away, it's just a matter of taste, although the transport of the mackie is easier. the settings are easy to handle

      I had another Mackie that I sold that had the same issue. I've had mine for a while so it could be a problem that develops over time or it could be an issue that has been fixed in manufacturing.

    Hi first off I am happy I have landed on your channel, I see you here doing an unboxing of the Yamaha Stagepas 1k,
    I'm really anxious to know your honest review on it,
    I purchased 2 let me tell you and all your subers, got them on an impulse buy, because of the colorful marketing that was put into them,
    my honest review is they are fine for Oneman and acoustic guitar show, also yes I have to say for a small cocktail party doing disco, I am a Dj but also live performer singer keyboard player, and what I notice after 1 hour I see that dreaded red light flicker, and maybe its my own ears felt that they dropped in power, one night I used them on their own mixer and from the very first song I sang I just wanted to stop the show, but continued for 2 hours, but next night I used my own dry Dynacord cms 1000 mixer, big difference more control, but still not satisfied
    definately something missing
    I used my Dynacord Am 12 monitor and also put the stage pass 1k's up on two beer crates to get the top speaker aray above people's heads and yes small function slightly satisfied, but still I don't think they are as great as they are marketed to be,
    the on board mixer is in my books only fair, the eq 1 knob, that's an absolute joke,
    it's next to near impossible to actually get a decent vocal, but no problem with your own mixing desk, the monitor one knob again with no separate mix control Hmmmm! where were they going with this, i tried it and it broke me up through the whole night,
    So yes I do like them and very handy to take into a small venue to do a disco with, but band wise definately not in my opinion, perhaps you will say I'm not correct on what I'm saying, but I'm sure others will have some interesting reviews on the 1k's also, even yourself you nailed it, 1.5 inch drivers how did yamaha tech's come up this, compared to the Evolve 50's, what would you consider to be the best all round active speaker to absolutely beat all line aray pa systems for power and vocal clarity at high spl, even decent enough, I know I'm probably moving into another topic here now, but seriously I would love to read your feedback on the 1k first off 🙏

    Hi! Love the video and the ones you made about 600 BT. I just bought 2 of the Stagepas 1's for a smaller to medium sized events I do. Haven't got the chance to do a proper testing in live environment (will do that in a week) but I was wondering why is such a difference in SPL between 1k and 600 version? 1k seems to produce nice and rich sound, loud as well for it purpose. I used the 600i version for 3 years (loved it but was always on the edge for possible fail since it is a passive system). However, the difference in max SPL between the two seems a bit excessive. Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks.

    I like the design especially the bag that holds the columns(smart lightweight design As compared to JBL eon one mk2) . But I just didn’t love the sound enough at there price point. When version 2 every comes around I may decide to move over. Cause I love all my other Yamaha stuff. Dbr Dxr and dxs.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 2 lety +1

      The bag is great and the fact that you don't have to buy it separately is a huge plus! It does have a different sound to it that I'm going to try to go over in my initial thoughts video. I did like it enough to order a second one. My Mackie SRM-Flex is hitting the road. But there are better columns out there around this price point that get louder and have a fuller sound but a more complicated mixer which doesn't work the best for my rental business. I have Evolve 30M's and I'm definitely going to need to do a side by side with them and the yamaha as well before I make my next video.

      @@TheAngrySoundTech very true the mixers on the new JBL columns are not intuitive the array is longer which is nice but understanding the menu submenu that channel specific then master specific is not for the faint of heart

    Been looking at buying some speaker sfor mobile djing, these column arrays looks smart but are they really worth the extra price? You can get some 15" active PA speakers for half the price. Is it just their portability and aesthetic people pay for?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 2 lety

      You'll get better sound out of a good pair of 15's for sure. Column arrays are popular with DJ's because of their clean look and portability. Just don't go too cheap on the 15's.

      @@scratchgonzo Well... as you can tell I tend to bounce around quite a bit. Currently for rentals and floor monitors I'm liking the Electro-Voice ELX200-12P's and for my events I use either the Yamaha DXR10MKII's or DXR15MKII's. But I do plan on buying myself a new sound system at some point.. I've sold a lot of my inventory and haven't bought anything new because everything I want is out of stock. lol

      Try HK Audio Polar 10 or 12. 1000w RMS, with a 120 degree spread. If I work a marquee I just use one. If I do an outside gig for say 1000 people I use 2 and add 2 active 12" subs below, gives me 1600w RMS per side and down to 38hz

    Acabo de obtener el EV Evolve 50. Definitivamente la calidad de construcción es insuperable en este tipo de altavoces de torre; la calidad de sonido es excelso... Yamaha 1K lo descarté por el tamaño de sus controladores de 1.5 pulgadas. Con esas medidas es casi imposible que las voces suenen naturales y fuertes, hagas lo que hagas con el ecualizador.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 2 lety +1

      The Evolve 50 is definitely a step up from the Yamaha STAGEPAS 1K. I have a pair of Evolve 30M's I'm going to do a side by side comparison with but I'm thinking the 30M's will also be a step up from the Yamaha 1K.

    They all lie, its crazy even rcf atleast they make best 15” out there. Seem to be putting cheaper stamped frames in most now. If you speak to a custom active speaker maker they tell you real truth. I was lucky got to listen to true 1000watt aes 15” pro driver running at ONLY 700watts programmed by usb on the board WOW it was unreal that was Fatial pro driver and power soft! Just wow it blew allllll named goods away that say
    1000w/1100w (they will tell you this some of these amps work at a % efficiency output ie 8ohm 1000watt different waves/music 86% you will get of true even then they can still put cheaper driver and then limiter.
    These are facts of decent amp make called Pascal so god knows what the real % of alto amp is prob like 79% this will be like max it can cope with if this makes sense. Mad thing is you can actually make decent powerful box with right amp and of course good drivers for 400/500 TRUE watts so another words can reach that. Try finding efficiency output of the internal amp you wont its hard
    RCF & JBL Use pascal amps, das is good stuff! Love rcf covers well worth money. Am just waiting for an evox update
