      These are great ideas. Behind the second counter you would put in, you could put a small storage sectional, facing the luttle fireplace where the mirror is now. It could even be a sleeper sofa for when company comes to visit.

    I would love to see some vintage wooden french doors in the entrance to the bedroom with light filtering curtains on the over the window panels, that way you can close off the bedroom area for privacy as needed while still keeping the light flowing through the space and you can keep the doors open the rest of the time and they'll just add visual interest to the space and give it more character! ☺️

      Also, it would help to warm up the space a little bit and break up a lot of the white going on in the space. Plus it would help draw attention to the wood beams and make the space look more cohesive overall with a more even mix of crisp, clean, modern and rustic, vintage, homey... The perfect combo for a quaint little cottage!

    Cute little cottage, and some great suggestions. I would suggest that if you were to add a larger fridge that it be done to the left side of the counter snug up against the wall. Having it to the right of the counter, up beside the table, it creates a tall visual barrier. Better to add a small island, or have the counter come out along the right side of the counter, with perhaps another bench on the table side, or better yet, make the kitchen more galley-style, with another counter parallel to the first, and place the sofa on the back side of it so that it is facing the fireplace you suggested (which I think is a really wonderful idea!) That way you could add upper shelves or cabinets above the existing counter, and add storage drawers beneath the parallel counter.

    For a short term AirB&B, it’s fine as is.
    For long term, I agree with all of your changes plus a W/D being essential (perhaps a stackable inside the bathroom somewhere or the 2-in-1 newer systems). Even though the house has mini-splits, you can never go wrong with a good ceiling fan in both the bedroom and living room. Get the ceiling fans with lights attached and it gives you two benefits: the lighting source that was already there and an additional cooling source that is pennies on the dollar when you don’t need it ‘cold’ in the house from an AC. Definitely helps in the south!
    Outside of that, other changes could be made much later down the line.
    Great video as always. Can’t wait to see what you show next week!😃

    • @TinyHouseExpedition
      @TinyHouseExpedition  Před 25 dny +3

      Yes to a ceiling fan-such a great point! Squeezing a w/d into the bathroom would be pretty tough but think you could add an insulated shed on the back of the wraparound porch to hold these and would pretty easy to run power out there. Thank you very much for the kind feedback & support 🥰

    • @Mr_APeezy
      @Mr_APeezy Před 25 dny +1

      @@TinyHouseExpedition agree about it probably being too tight in the bathroom, but that’s because I’m lazy and wouldn’t want to step outside to load clothes in the W/D. Maybe if the porch was screened in to avoid like mosquitos and other wildlife critters if I’m doing laundry at ridiculous times during the night.😅

    Think this house is well decorated. Definitely needs a bigger kitchen, like a true farm cottage. Would make space for it next to the bathroom, with an egress onto a back porch.
    The bathroom shower just needs a curtain instead of walls. The bonuses are if the toilet or sink overflows then the overflow is handled somewhat by the shower drain instead of continually flowing outward OR if someone has a wheelchair the person has room to move alongside the toilet...
    More storage is essential for real life living, as well as a washer and dryer. A alternate source of heat outside the electrical grid makes more sense in the event of an emergency....

    I love this series you are doing about how Airbnbs could be homes!
    From the outside, I was imagining a different layout, with the bedroom on the right as you come in the door, and the bathroom behind it, and a great room for the rest. I was thinking of the living area where the bedroom really is, dining nook in the back corner behind it, and the kitchen straight ahead of the front door. I think I'll grab some graph paper and design something that way, but with this exterior look, like a farmhouse/bungalow hybrid. I have a lot in a little town and really want to build a little home on it. Maybe even two little homes, one for me and one for a tenant.

    Very nice and definitely cozy cottage feeling. To enlarge the kitchen area. I'd go for a l-shaped or corner counter. Or even put the larger apartment size fridge on the wall. Next to the loveseat. Where the fridge is now. Put an rv size built in stove. Yes, to the l-shaped nook area. Use an oval table. To do more in the living room area. I like the fireplace and mantel idea. Instead of a TV. I'd opt for a projector. The window blind could be a multi-functional blind/screen. Go for a portable projector. That can be moved to the bedroom as well. The wall where the TV is now. Would make a nice screen as it is now. The bathroom is almost perfect as is. Add a shelf or cabinets over the peg wall and still have a place for towels or bathrobes. A corner garden tube/shower would work better for me. As far as the outside goes. No changes there. Awesome lean-to sitting area. Along with porch swing and fire pit.

    Very cool, you hardly ever see these kind of tiny cottages! 😀 This type of cottage was the first small home I pinned about 15 years ago. 😊 The porch, shutters and roof make it so dreamy.
    For myself I would lengthen the kitchen worktop slightly and have it end in an inverted L-shape. This way you have a place for a cooker, prep space, a 'table' and storage underneath. Loose the vertical side bench and make the bench longer and higher (storage).
    Place a shelf above the couch. With nice baskets/boxes for design and decluttering.
    In the bedroom I would put a bed with desk (folding combination). Plus an antique English wardrobe. 😊
    Maybe build a shed for the washer, bikes and garden equipment?
    Thanks!

  • @IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBS

    The chair could be where the mirror is. Agree with the other suggestions... though I might opt for a double bed, use bed hydraulic and place the wardrobe across from the window. I play this game in all tiny spaces too. If weather permits, and out building with a washer and dryer.

    Some of what you both said had it's merits but some didn't seem feasible. The shoe cabinet by the door, with a little organizer for your keys. The breakfast corner idea was nice but maybe a smaller window higher placed on the kitchen side so you could relax and lean back and a longer rectangle table would be nice too. I think if you went with an El shaped kitchen and a medium sized fridge you'd still be able to leave the couch and recliner along. As for the fireplace, for me personally I like sitting in front of a fireplace and that although could be nice, I don't see it as a realistic idea, although low shelves and a longer mirror might be closer to it. As for the bedroom, I would go with a standard console chest of drawers and a bigger TV centered on the way a bit lower so your not looking up to watch. If you get a hideaway bed for the living room and a folding blind to go in the doorway of the bedroom you could have a few guests and still have some privacie.

    I love your videos. There are so many ideas for this cozy cutie! I'd put an island where Alexis suggested and maybe put a small couch on the other side of it? Of course, the island wound have wheels. Also, the benches at the nook are a great idea by making the one longer for a rectangle table and make them accessible for storage. I'm thinking that there has to be be a way for the table to be shorter or longer. idk. There are so many storage options. I love this home and I LOVE your channel!!! 💗💗💗

    I wouldn't put those windows behind the benches, I can see me sitting back and cracking the window, how about adding 10 feet to the kitchen end and build out a larger kitchen. Beautiful cottage, works good as an Air BnB but not to live in.

    • @TinyHouseExpedition
      @TinyHouseExpedition  Před 22 dny +1

      Yes to a stove!! You could definitely fit in an apartment or RV size range, maybe on the back kitchen wall and add a second counter space across from the existing one to create a really nice U-shaped kitchen 🤔😊

    I love this tiny cottage. So cozy and quaint. I agree with the things that you said for making it adaptable to full time living. It does need a washer and a dryer. I would like to see some upper cabinets in the kitchen with glass fronts. I would also like to see a linen closet and a closet in the bedroom. Also where do you store your vacuum or broom? How about bike storage? Otherwise this cottage is adorable. I love the cottage style in general. Thank you.

    A lot of "wasted" space in the living-room and also to little kitchen- cupboard. It is like it is about the "styling/decoration" people shall live there and then you can not get enough of storage-places. Most people also like a small table in front of the sofa, what else can you put your snacks/cakes/cups etc on? I love it is bright, light, white, big bathroom, but, one BIG wish I have always had in my own small house, with ONE bathroom, is that the toilet had been separate, it is very often an issue when you have visitors. Some want to shower, some need to go to the bathroom. That bedroom was THE most beautiful bedroom, one of my DREAM, but, two things is missing, a door, sliding door or something for privacy, and some pegs is not enough at all if you shall LIVE there, is it an Bed & Breakfast, ok, then it will work. Here it comes, your ideas!! I totally agree in them!! else, this was beautiful, I love white and clean houses.

      Great cottage! While attending nursing school in the mountains of NC I rented a little white 1 bedroom cottage. It had a beautiful front porch that I would hang ferns from. It had a view of the mountains, a brown horse, Christmas tree farm and a river beyond that! $250 per month in 2008. I should have never moved!

    I would need a door to separate the bedroom from the living area…. Not every one wants to go to bed at the same time… and who wants to try to sleep with light from the main room shining in their eyes?!

    • @juanawashington9597

      What you're missing is that this cottage is not spacious enough for more than two people. So...who are you needing to be separated from? Yourself? 😂

    • @evacarson5878

      @@juanawashington9597 Even two people might want to be separate from each other at times. If one person wants to go to bed but the other person wants to stay up….Im speaking from experience…. After my husband had a stroke, he wanted to stay up at all hours instead of going to bed…. He had to have every light on. That left me with trying to sleep with situation . My saving grace was that I had a door that I could partially shut and block the light from shining in my eyes.Even two people can have different needs at times.

    On top of what you guys mentioned, I think I would swap out the couch for a hook couch with storage and a fold out bed for guests, make it less white and add a door so the bedroom can be a bit more private if people are staying and an outhouse attached to the back side of the porch for a washer/dryer and I would add a shed outside that's insulated for an extra room if needed given what my hobbies are lol (crafts and reading).
