Having this run on Unreal makes for some pretty crazy possibilities that most people can make a reality. We have some RGB that can be programmed to specific games and events. with a whole screen, it's a pretty insane idea.
This vs Flux keyboard? As much as I like it... Its only a prettier rgb keyboard with wallpaper. No matter how transparent those mechanical switch can be... They make the display looks ugly even if it was in 4k uhd Flux's has an actual purpose to the display with their more productivity function of modules and the ability to switch the legends that are on the screen rather than on the keycaps. But I still will get 1 because I can.
This has actually semi wild potential implications. You could code it to track a boss fight and light up the rotational keys you need to press to get your timing down during a raid. it's all based off Unreal 5 which has insane potential as it stands. You could have it track the players life and light up the heal key whenever it detects a certain level of HP droppage
So... what does it look like when you're done playing videos on it and just want to, you know, type stuff? I noticed they didn't show it with a QWERTY layout image, I bet it would look pretty blurry. Also a lot of vertical camera shots, but you will probably be viewing it from an angle, and if you want an actually useful keyboard background, the key tops will be offset a bit due to the viewing angle. I'm still impressed by the nearly transparent key mechs, but otherwise it's a Das Keyboard with a blurry screen instead of being all black.
Ah, 0:55 you can see tiny little vertical letters somewhere. But the screen is still less than useful for back-lighting groups of keys due to the blur and the viewing angle.
A great point! You could probably nitigate that with layout design though, by offsetting the letters vertically to place them in the right position for your viewing angle. Likely will be a lot of skins that do just that.
I am assuming, that they assume, that most people that spend $350 on a keyboard don't spend their time looking at the keys to figure out which one their finger needs to press next?. Then again why look at your keyboard at all and put a massive monitor on it? I don't have the answers unfortunately.

There was a design company in Russia (search Optimus Maximus, I have no connection to them but they caught my eye a long time ago) that was marketing a full keyboard where every key had it's own screen and it changed based on your software(and mode). Streaming decks have sort of made that a little redundant now but this is a different way to do it it seems, having a full screen behind transparent keys. It's very flash but I would like to see more practical uses for keyboard shortcuts for sure.

I would be pissed to spend that amount of money on a keyboard, to be force fed ads. Unless you mean streamers using a hand cam. However this is such a niche market that I don't see the investment by companies.
That's an amazing idea, I didn't even think of that! You're definitely going to be seeing that happening when these come out. I can imagine tenz will definitely be displaying his own personal logo along with his current team and sponsors as well, along with some other things, such as youtube links, twitch, all that. Even having a qr code to scan during stream where people can scan and access their page, bitcoin wallet, make donations, whatever you can imagine, this thing has endless capabilities, i can't wait to get my hands on this. got the founders edition mouse, and it comes with a guaranteed access code, and i'm 1000% getting the keyboard to go along with the mouse, it's one of the most beautiful things i've seen in a while, and a custom made black ink switch with fully clear housing is unreal. it's such a beautiful typing experience, along with the option to get analog switches and change actuation points like the wooting 60he which is selling for well over 600 resale because of the analog switches alone, and that board was 180$ preorder.

Same, id love to have this just as a display on my wall along with my other keebs. Wouldn't want to use it for normal daily usage though, doesn't sound good, modding switches sounds iffy due to the screen and the case doesn't look high quality. Still super cool as an artpiece though
I'm honestly interested in getting this just to display different alphabets underneath the keys so I can have a hebrew or arabic keyboard on the fly. Wish they showed multilingual functionality in this trailer.
Beautiful graphic keys encased in a clunky aluminum box. The engraving is very skewed toward individual taste, and will clash with a lot of the loaded graphics. The case could have been done in a better way.
It's $350. If you aren't placing it on a solid cherrywood desk imported from Japan with a $4,000 screen and a $11,000 computer, all with inlaid gold leaf... It's not meant for you.
You know what would be incredible? If you could play CZcams videos on it and have the sound go to your headset. That would be easy space managing for those who don't have a big enough desk for 2 monitors

This is going to be insanely expensive (to be expected) and probably rare af being that FM can’t make enough of anything and charge outrageous prices for what you get. Other than the fact everything they make is rare. It this is as innovative as it gets.
Looks likes the 2nd screen on my Asus Duo 16 laptop xD price seems quite worth it but the whole idea is about spectacle, not utility. This is useless unless we can actually change each key graphic and function to create our own macro keyboards.

Missed opportunity go create a multi-lingual and /or multi platform/custom key layout etc keyboard by using the graphics go displaying virtual key captions on the screen below transparent key tops. I assume this is because the key mechanism blocks the view of the screen below? A Russian or Eastern European company once made a keyboard with mini OLED displays below each keycap. To be honest, that be more useful. I think with this keyboard the gimmick wear off because the key captions on the front of the keys will be too hard to see unless dimming the display. Either way, very nicely made!

A lot of people seem to be complaining that there's no full sized version. You know if you really need a numpad, you can buy a separate external one for like $15, right? Then it doesnt have to be attached to your keyboard, you can put it out of the way.
I'm no keyboard enthusiast so I ask questions 1. Why have these screensavers light up the background of the keyboard and prevent you from seeing what the keys are? 2. If you don't need to see the label of the keys because you already have very good muscle memory for typing, then why even the need for an RGB or display keyboard if you don't need to look at it in the first place?

Most gaming-oriented keyboards don't seem to have this. I stopped using a high-quality one a friend gave me simply because it's so useful and you miss it after not having it, especially if you learned ten key (good ol retail days)
Well it's pretty, but I look down at my backlit RGB keyboard and see all the dust & crumbs & schmutz that collects on the keyboard, and I'm envisioning a lot of time spent trying to keep this thing clean - schmutz would show up very well on this thing! And um, well, yeah, it's pretty when not schmutzed, but it would be so distracting I'd probably swap it for a plain ol' keyboard when I want to get anything done and actually pay attention to my screen and not the flashy schmutzed keyboard... I'm thinking this is another Segway, only less practical - flashy, big splash, sell a few, but where do you see them now except the occasional tour group?

Many people touch type, so they have letters and number memorized, but if you don’t there are actual letters on the keys if you look closely. If not, I’m sure there will be skins where letters are very visible instead of small.
This feels like it might be distracting imo Trying to play in a dark room is going to take a while to acclimate to. This is just like the keyboard that was pushed out by Samsung with UI 5.0 (at least for the Flip)
I’ve designed, prototyped, manufactured, and sold exactly zero keyboards. So I can’t say if this is a great keyboard or not. But I can say, you created a top tier advertisement for your keyboard. Hope it is excellent and well adopted!

Pretty cool, but what about dust, hairs and weird things that just get stuck in the back glass board, it'll need a quick keys removal device to keep this working in this video's good state tho. Or in 1 month you'll only see dirt in the keyboard and it'll be annoying.
Keyboard with no membrane, no visible circuit lines, display that's large for $349? I'm calling BS. Send the keyboard to some reviewers and we'll see just how real this is.
Came here from the WAN show. In the current state this is just impressive hardware with no value for me. I don't really care if there is flashy-flashy under my fingers. I'd buy it though, if it got firmware update, so that people could write plugins for it to serve as a console panel for whatever program you're using. Imagine playing a game and having your inventory laid out on your keyboard, so that each item is a distinct key you can select and your monitor stays clear. Or if you watch a video, and all the controls (volume, brightness, progress, speed) are on the keyboard, with no single icon obstructing the content. Or have names of your tabs in Chrome spelled out on the number keys, once you hold ctrl. The possibilities are endless, but this form factor has to be taken seriously.
The absolute smallest I could live with would be TKL. Preferably full size. I got a job to do to actually fuel my gaming habits after all. And I don't really understand manufacturers only offering one style of mech key on their products. Everyone has their preferred switch, so give us the option to pick which style we want. Basically what I'm asking for is a full sized version with cherry brown style switches lol.
The side of the key that faces you - they're on the side. You should know where a key is when you're typing anyway. I never stare at my keys. It's a 65% anyway. If you know where your modifier keys, number row and alpha keys are - you don't need to look at your keyboard.
To me the use case for this keyboard would be emoji keyboards or other situations where you want to modify what the keys do. Standard layout doesn’t need labels.

Good idea but what happens with the numbers and the letters?? How is supposed to write with it if it's necessary.
Many people touch type, so they have letters and number memorized, but if you don’t there are actual letters on the keys if you look closely. If not, I’m sure there will be skins where letters are very visible instead of small.

I’ve designed, prototyped, manufactured, and sold exactly zero keyboards. So I can’t say if this is a great keyboard or not. But I can say, you created a top tier advertisement for your keyboard. Hope it is excellent and well adopted!

Pretty cool, but what about dust, hairs and weird things that just get stuck in the back glass board, it'll need a quick keys removal device to keep this working in this video's good state tho. Or in 1 month you'll only see dirt in the keyboard and it'll be annoying.

In the current state this is just impressive hardware with no value for me. I don't really care if there is flashy-flashy under my fingers.
I'd buy it though, if it got firmware update, so that people could write plugins for it to serve as a console panel for whatever program you're using. Imagine playing a game and having your inventory laid out on your keyboard, so that each item is a distinct key you can select and your monitor stays clear. Or if you watch a video, and all the controls (volume, brightness, progress, speed) are on the keyboard, with no single icon obstructing the content. Or have names of your tabs in Chrome spelled out on the number keys, once you hold ctrl. The possibilities are endless, but this form factor has to be taken seriously.
The absolute smallest I could live with would be TKL. Preferably full size. I got a job to do to actually fuel my gaming habits after all. And I don't really understand manufacturers only offering one style of mech key on their products. Everyone has their preferred switch, so give us the option to pick which style we want. Basically what I'm asking for is a full sized version with cherry brown style switches lol.

Why not showing keylabels? I saw only fancy animations. A keyboard is for typing, a screen for animations. Maybe I dont understand keyboards. :D
It has side printed ("ninja printed") labels.
The side of the key that faces you - they're on the side. You should know where a key is when you're typing anyway. I never stare at my keys. It's a 65% anyway. If you know where your modifier keys, number row and alpha keys are - you don't need to look at your keyboard.
To me the use case for this keyboard would be emoji keyboards or other situations where you want to modify what the keys do. Standard layout doesn’t need labels.
