  • Check out my latest video on comparing - Telstra Home 5G vs Telstra Ultra fast (1Gbps) HFC NBN.
I run through a series of test.
    *Direct Ethernet speed test
    * HFC NBN WiFi 5 speed test vs 5G Home WiFi 6 speed test
    * Telstra 5G speed via iPhone 12 pro via direct cell tower at optimal location in my house.
Please Note: Telstra's Smart Modem Gen 3 with WiFi 6 is rumoured (Whirlpool Forums) to come out in 1-2 months, this could be pushed back. please check on Telstra.com for offical release dates for this new modem.

The key is to go for an unlimited speed plan and unlimited data- Optus still offers it on their website. Vodafone used to offer the unlimited speed plan before. Telstra is just not ditching customers not honoring full unlimited data plan.
NBN is just Crap value honestly especially for speed plan of 50 -500 Mbps plans

In New Zealand I pay $80 NZ for 1000 down and 500 up unlimited and it is rock solid on 2degrees

Thank you for the video. Could you please give us more detail on what external antenna to use? I just got the 5g and was thinking of trying to boost its reception that way also. Thank you

im also on HFC it was great for the first 2 years getting 7 ping and always over 100 megabits but for the last month out of nowhere started getting multiple dropouts every single day, so 5G is looking like alot more of a stable option for me right now, i never thought i would ever have to do this, i never want to deal with an HFC connection ever again after this month of hell until i move somewhere that has a solid FTTN connection or an FTTP connection 5G will be my lifesaver, also a hardcore gamer by the way

Try 5G out for a month, since it’s free and see if it works. Remember the ping is higher on 5G. Plus you may get drop out depending on the weather conditions. Worth a try though. I reckon you can just get the NBN guys to fix your pit and that should do the trick. I had the same issue and it took them quite a few tries to fix it

Already talked to them and they told me according to NBN my dropouts dont fall within the mininum number for them to do anything about it but might have to push for a telco ombudsmen

5G Home internet is great except for the data cap, when you have really high speeds it can be easy to go over that but for the price it’s an amazing value.

Our town's 5G service has been just switched on they are finishing up the works on Monday I've done some speed test on my mobile getting 350Mb/s download & up to 70Mb/s upload, I think it's a matter of time before Telstra offer unlimited 5G plans we are set to get Fibre at the end of 2024 but for me 5G is more price friendly.
