    I bypass the DAC in the Eversolo and use it purely as a streamer. In that respect it works very well. I love the app, usability, screen art. It's not perfect but for the money it's very good. Yes I could have saved money with a Wiim, but it's not about getting the cheapest possible for me. I know I could get a lot better too, HiFi Rose RS130 for instance, but weighing everything up, the Eversolo is a great price for what you get

      @elthamlad468 - That is what I was thinking - I am thinking of purchasing this and bypassing the DAC, but I would also consider how intuitive the apps are - not sure how wiim pro app is; aesthetics is huge part, I think with the beautiful display it would look great with my setup. I agree, its just not about using the unit for a particular functionality but over-all experience. Have you used with the DAC and what differences have you noticed?

      @@TheJoker-qc6jq I have used the internal DAC but it wasn't as good as either of my separate DACs. My new amp, Cambridge Audio Edge A, has a built in DAC but a very high quality one, so the A6 doesn't even come close.

      Same here. Using the DMP-A6 with a Geshelli Labs J2S DAC with the Sparkos ss2590 Opamps, going into Klipsch Forte IV's and I love it. I did also add the upgraded power supply, but since you can't easily A/B test without two units, it was difficult to comment on the return on investment. As a standalone streamer and DAC, I am not a fan of the ESS chips, and I agree with the premise of this video. As a streamer going into an external DAC, this is tough to beat. Works great with Roon, and also as a local server to stream files that you own. The latest software/firmware update added more features, and eliminated many bugs, which is great to see.

    I also bypass the DAC in my Eversolo DMP-A6, instead I use Chord Hugo TT2 / M-Scaler combo, after which I run through my Michi X3 and Bowers and Wilkins 804 D4s (this is a very bright setup). The Digital output from the A6 is solid, the sound issues that you discuss in this review relate to the analog output stage using the duel ESS9038Q2M 32-Bit DAC set up (similar to the Topping D50s). The digital transport side of this Streamer is as good as Naim or Cambridge audio streamers (I have tried these), and that is where the value sits for this little streamer feature packed flexible interface with NAS level storage and strong digital stage pass through. I will be picking up an Eversolo DMP-A8 after christmas, so looking forward to seeing if the sound stage improvements stated are actually true (for the digital side of the unit). Thanls for the comments.

      Master edition is smoother and warmer sounding then the standard. It pairs better with brighter speakers. Use the slow roll off filter. If you use the USB input it also sounds warmer but that takes away alot of the streamer value. I guess that's because of the upgraded femto clock.

    I want to clarify something for my own edification. You said pairing with Ares did help with the top end a bit but it wasn't the right thin to do. Should I understand it as even with an external DAC, Eversolo is too sharp on the top en (with neutral/bright speakers). I was wondering how this would sound through a Schiit system with a Bifrost 2 DAC to Buchardt S400 MkII. Also, any thoughts on the new Cambridge Audio CXN100? I see some open box options for $699.

      Thanks! Yeah, the internal DAC is definitely no good, and I've found the optical output is pretty horb as well (I'm super sensitive to sketchy treble). I agree with you in general on the review, not mega happy with the product overall. Did you think that via USB to the Ares it still added some bad treble characteristics vs. other streamers? I also don't love the app with tidal, it takes forever to load all your songs, vs on DLNA apps like mconnect which load all your songs in one go and you can just keep scrolling! I have both the DMP-A6, and just picked up the A8. The glare is fairly common with Ess chips. I can say that the A8 is amazing definitely a bit more weight and heft to the sound. I mean 10 input sources and 6 different outputs on top of the akm implementation is great. The flexibility of these units is amazing. The versatility is unmatched at the price point. I do wish the A8 would have had a larger screen. The A6 is an all around great value. When I pair the A6 with the Geshelli Labs J2 with the Akm chip, that is the thick dynamic sound that you just don’t get with most ESS chips.

    I greatly appreciate the candid review. I have a more revealing system and annoying / poorly resolved treble gets under my skin quickly. I'm hoping you'll do a candid comparison review with the A8. I've read the AKM vs. ESS setup and better clock result in a warmer / smoother sound profile which could make for a much better pairing with my setup (that includes B&W 803Ds). I'm wondering if that may be worth the 2x cost given I have absolutely no interest in using the pre-amp functionality.

    I would appreciate your advice based on your expertise and unbiased reviews. I need a subwoofer to combine with NAD 758 v3i receiver and Definitive Technology four Mythos1 towers and one center channel Mythos 8 speakers. Musicality and aesthetics are the objective rather than power. I am undecided between B & W asw608/610 and Monitor Audio Radius 380. Cost is not an issue. Which one would you recommend? By the way, SVS 3000 Micro or Kef KC62 are not under consideration as I do not need that power to be used in my condominium. Thanks

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před 6 měsíci

      Aesthetics? Why not REL T7x or 1003 mk2? Also SVS & KC62 are not crazy powerful, just because they have a lot of watts it doesn't mean they are crazy loud. The 300watt REL 1003 MK2 can play louder than the 1000w KC62! No matter what sub you get you will blend it with your system so it doesn't matter how loud or powerful it is at full volume as you will most likely listen at reasonable levels :). Finally B&W ASW range is very underpowered, their specs are not honest.

    • @manuc4246
      @manuc4246 Před 6 měsíci

      I considered the REL T7x. However, I am concerned that the down firing passive radiator may affect negatively the music detail.
      I am still leaning towards the B&W ASW608/610 or the Monitor Audio Radius 380 (not much information on it). By the way, the Rel T7x is more expensive than the SVS 3000 micro in Canada but is under consideration now.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Před 6 měsíci

      @@manuc4246 You said cost is not an issue, REL makes some of the best sounding subwoofers in the world, your worry of the T7x in regards to music detail is severely misguided. Of course aesthetics are personal but if aesthetics are a concern personally I feel REL makes some of the best looking and sounding subwoofers. B&W ASW series is 15 year old vinyl wrapped cabinet that maybe has 100 honest watts. The ASW series isn't bad but its not competative in todays market. If the T7x is too expensive at least get the 1003 MK2, it easily embarasses any of the ASW subs.

      No I did not see his video, I don't watch other reviewers content unless it's specifically a product I'm personally interested in. Some people did post about it in my discord and this was my response if you're interested in my opinion on the topic: "When the YT channel is the content creators primary source of income it is a fallacy to believe the viewer or even MFG takes any priority over the channel itself. The YT channel at that point is a for profit business and that's okay. We all love tons of for profit businesses like the NFL for example. You either trust them or you don't. I already have a DAC and amp that I'm happy with, so this streamer would be overkill for me. I use my DAP for desktop streaming. The USB output is connected to a DDC (Douk Audio U2 PRO XMOS XU208 Digital Interface) that is powered by linear power supply (iFi iPower Low Noise DC Power Supply). The optical output of the DDC is connected to my DAC. The quality of USB streaming output from my DAP (Shanling M3X) is better than that from any of my phones. You could skip the DDC, but it does noticably improve tone an timbre of the output when powered by the linear power supply.

      Dynaudio's treble is interesting in that it's on the forward side of neutral but with an attack that is on the softer side so it's oddly forgiving for a speaker thats on the forward side of neutral. I do have them here and tried that combination. I could still hear the glare but I really had to listen for it so I'd say that combination will be just fine for most people unless you are very sensitive in the treble region.

    I like the review. I can agree with much of what you say. However, where we can agree to disagree is in speaker pairings. While your opinion is correct to your ears, I’d rather leave it up to the individual and how they perceive the sound before making a blanket statement that the DMP-A6 won’t work well with a particular type of speaker. Everyone hears differently.
    As to your issues with the App, let me say that in my limited use of the App (and I’ve had my A6 for as long as you have), it’s ok. I’ve had no problems with it. BUT… I use Roon and control the A6 playback with the Roon App and I have NEVER, not once, had any problems. Just something for your readers to keep in mind.

    Finally, some honesty instead of hype. I have highly resolving speakers - Harbeth SHL5plus - and I simply couldn’t live with the A6 (I used it as a streamer only. Didn’t use the DAC). I’ve sold mine (after 4 months), and so has a good friend of mine. The treble is too bright. The leading edges are very hard, not natural. It not only led to listening fatigue in a short period of time, it would literally make my ears ring. I tried different cables to tone it down, but to no avail. I also have to say that the bass is nice, but very thin. Yes, the A6 is very detailed, but the overall presentation is not well balanced tonally. While all that detail is enthralling at first, with time the weaknesses of the A6 begin to reveal themselves. Obviously, Nemo is hearing what I heard and I appreciate his honesty, but he’s still being overly kind to the A6.
