There are people who are going to buy this at msrp and on secondary as well, and those are the people who are going to justify to Buffalo Trace that they can continue to manufacture scarcity.
Wild Turkey is more out of hand. This is all expected. See they push the prices of the SE/LE's like crazy so that when they continue to increase the standard releases you just go "Oh, yeah seems right". Secondary market prices told the distributors they can reach for larger margins and everyone in the supply chain smiled. Distributors are making more per case as prices go up and so are retailers. Sadly, even with LE's and standard releases seeing price jumps constantly for the past 3 years there is no end in sight of these crazy secondary prices. If anything... it will continue to get worse until most average people are priced out of the game. The $500 Weller release didn't get half the backlash it shoudl have and it is selling for a massive premium in secondary... so that just means they got plenty of room to gouge. It won't be long before we see $500 and $1000 become the normal LE's price for some of these brands. All they are doing is making Jack Daniels, of all brands, look EVEN BETTER. JD SBBP's and the Special Releases are the best bang for buck whiskey being sold right now. Sure, the Sinatra bottle is still a joke but the MSRP on the 10 and 12 is still VERY reasonable for very good bottles of whiskey.
