1st clip is from the East West Funk Conference in Orlando Oct 30th 2005. I am sitting right where the camera is getting this footage. I have a photo taken with him just before this showcase and a wonderful one on one discussion. An absolute legend who changed mine and thousands of lives. We LOVE YOU DON!!!!
Hi brother, Don is my uncle. I would love to have that picture so I can put it in his collage. my email is dayofelements@gmail.com Love you for loving my uncle, means a lot to us his family! Bless you and yours
We would see Don Campbell dance at the weekly dance exhibitions at Destiny 2 on Overland Avenue, Los Angeles. This was 1979 at the height of disco, and the patrons during the weekdays were hard core hustle dancers. Some of the exhibitors would do hustle, while others would do rehearsed lifts and drops. But it was fun and a nice change of pace to see Campbell do his locks, then the splits, flip his derby hat and then smile with his sparkling white teeth. Unfortunately, none of us realized at the time that he was the creator of the dance style. Those were great days and fun times.
In ALL of Street Dance, ONLY Locking has ONE true and proven Creator!! This right here, the amazing Don Campbellock Campbell!! Thank you for this blessed and wonderful gift. No other street dance style can PROVE who came up with theirs. Not Popping, not Boogaloo nor Strutting, probably not even Breaking can make this claim. Some have tried, but NOT proven.
Not quite. Krumping, which is a street dance also, was created by Tight Eyez. Some originators are known. We don’t have to downplay others to give honors to people.
to Noah Campbell: Many people don't know this but the name of the dance is called: Campbellocking And the name of the group is called: Don Campbell and the Campbellock Dancers You can talk to Don “Campbellock” Campbell and get the full history.
He Was A Locking Machine !!!....In His Glorious Youth , The Height He Reached In His Jumps Was PHENOMENAL !!!...Hats Off to THE MASTER !!!......

the legend
What cartoon was that?
From 1982 feature length animated movie "Hey Good Lookin" by director Ralph Bakshi. Included rotoscoped dance scene performed by the actual Lockers.
Is Locking just dropping to your knees and throwing your hat up in the air then?
I've been wrong all these years. Thanks for the clarification.
Lol! do more some workshop dude.
No its needing to have RHYTHM as a BASE for any dance dear🤨
