    I' m shooting a low budget feature in November, so I just purchased the F4. I upgraded from an H6 that I will now use for Foley and back up.. Thorough and professional video. Well done. Subbed.

      Thanks and good luck with the shoot. Let me know if you need any dialogue clean up or sound design help.

      Smart choice! The Zoom F4 is a huuuuuuuuuuuuge MASSIVE upgrade from any of the Zoom H Series recorders. Good luck with the feature film, feel free to reach out for any tips.

    Great video. The Power Bank is a great tip. I just purchased the F4 and this will be a super helpful accessory.

    Good Info. but, did not show the bag when speaking about it.

    Great video but I wish you cut to the closeup towards the end so I could see the Zoom. Great info though, thank you!

    I agree, the Zoom F4 is a fantastic choice for a first field recorder! People now are so spoiled for choice.
    Just it is unfortunate that Zoom discontinued the F4 :-( :-/ As the Zoom F6 isn't a suitable replacement! The F6 & F4 are two different things, and the F6 isn't necessarily better than the F4. Please Zoom, give us a F4n :-D

    Great video and well explained but there are some sections where the camera angle is unhelpful. For example 34:07, he's talking abut recording but we can't see what's happening on the device. Great vid overall.

    Really really love the detailed overview! Would have appreciated some timecodes with topics though for ease of jumping around in the long video to skip over some of the basic knowledge.

    Where can I find a Directors Audio Kit?
    I just finished recording sound on a 2 day shoot with a Tascam DR60-MKII. Two things the director wanted that I didn’t have - timecode and audio for the director.
    The new Tentacle sync with Bluetooth is what I will get to jam timecode to the cameras.
    I’d like to have the directors audio kit with me also if it’s something that isn’t crazy expensive.

    Did I miss the explanation of the Trim, in PFl settings? I still don’t understand that function it had Mic: 25db and Line: 12db. I’m not sure how this works.

    Hi Matt, sorry have a quick question here back dating to this zoom F4.. on the record button beep, can that beep be routed by transmitter to camera receiver, so in other words camera op can hear the record beep aswell of course as the feed. Bit of a strange one i know, just have a trainee lad on a quick job and would like to hear the the record beep, tks in advance

    • @mmg-k5x
      @mmg-k5x  Před rokem

      Good question, not sure. You can definitely use tone gen button top right for this tho

    Bought a Shure SM7B and plugged theXLR directly into the 1st input... turned on Phantom Power for the 1st input... saw squiggly lines as I recorded... and data was being written to the SSD card... NADA!?! For some reason the 1st and 3rd are lit up but I did make sure the 1st was showing the sound coming from the mic

    • @mmg-k5x
      @mmg-k5x  Před 3 lety +1

      The inputs are numbered Japanese style back to front, so you may have plugged into 2 and 4 unknowingly, check that

    • @TheGeoDaddy
      @TheGeoDaddy Před 3 lety

      Yes, good pickup but I did... and I had plugged a single lav in there before and got a recording... must be something else??? I know I turned on Phantom Power but the a Shure SM7B Google says it’s “doesn’t need it” which I find hard to believe... maybe try to turn it off...

    I’m battling to connect my RØDE NT1-A microphone to the zoom could you please assist? I’ve sorted the phantom power in settings, it just receives signal but no sound is coming out

    • @mmg-k5x
      @mmg-k5x  Před 4 lety

      Because it's Japanese, the Zoom inputs are labeled right to left. Check you're supplying 48v to the correct channel. Then are you seeing signal on Zoom display? If not you might have an issue with the mic - check warranty.

    I'm looking for such a power bank but I can't find it easily (sorry for any wrong pronunciation, I'm from Brazil)
