The defence calculation basically makes towers do percentage/2 less damage, like vin with 100% def doesn't mean it makes ur stuff do 0 damage , it is -50% damage, rangers will do 150 against vin while he has his shield on.
The way that defense works is that it turns it into a decimal, so like 30% is acually 1.3 defense, which when divided by the damage, let's say 300, becomes 231 approximately rather then 90 damage, so it's a weird system but will normally be better then if it acually worked in a smart way
i would be very mad and confused on why void reaver would have a shield when literally two spawn with 700k health and can damage the base and can literally spawned ghost accelerator (i think thats the name) and can legit ruin ur like 50 min gameplay of trying to beat hardcore
I think I know how the Defense System works so Imagine a enemy has 50% defense. It will turn into 1.5 so that means a ranger who deals 300 Damage will do 200 Damage. It is basically (Damage) Divided by the Amount which is 1.5. Lets take another example. the Fallen Guardians 80% defense which means 1.8. And a Max Level RANGER shot it. It would be 300 Divided by 1.8 equals to 166.666 Damage but it will be rounded off to 167 Damage. I think now you Understand.
Actually defense does make sense the giant boss could just have harder skin like how animals have hides that are stronger than normal hides and the void reaver simply could just not adapt to get stronger skin or something and the void reaver has no defense for balancing and what makes it even logical for some percentage close to 30% probably cause you can hit something like an organ
It’s kind of weird that the main hard-core boss like has armor but no defense or shield because he has Armor but does that does not make any sense he has Aamir but he still takes all of the damage even with the armor on
Tower Galactica's defense system is even more confusing, like for example: 80% defense to explosives damage means 80% less damage to explosives, right? But I still deal 100% of my explosion damage
