  • Witness the installation of a plaque commemorating the former residence of music legend Leon Russell! With nods to the rich history of the area and gratitude to Teresa Knox for her contributions to Tulsa's music scene, the community comes together to honor Russell's legacy. The residents of Maple Ridge express their admiration for Leon Russell and their dedication to preserving his memory, inviting all admirers of Russell's work to partake in the spirit of his former home, the late Aaronson Mansion. This moment not only celebrates a music icon but also fosters a sense of community and reverence for the artistic heritage that thrives in Tulsa.
The Church Studio is a historic recording studio that was built in 1915 as Grace M.E. Church. It came to life in 1972 when Leon Russell, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Award-winning artist, purchased the old church and turned it into an analog recording studio and home office to Shelter Records. Teresa Knox, a Leon Russell fan and Tulsa native, purchased The Church Studio and has brought it back to life as a professional analog and digital recording studio, event center, audio engineering school, entertainment network, and home to The Church Studio Archive.

Used to live right around the corner when I lived in Tulsa. Leon was gone by then. Such a beautiful area. So cool that this plaque was installed.

I am guessing the home there at the site today is not the home that LR lived in back in the 1970's....I was hoping to see more of the old home and the history of it. Maybe in another video.
