What made him special was his ability to handle the rock, pass and make the right play. At times he looked more like a point guard. He didn't rush the game (pierce). He was smooth (Allan Houston). He was the cornerstone in what we see today... bigger guards playing on the ball using their shifty change of speed to get to the right spots. Roy changed the idea of the prototype shooting guards to a more fluid position in what we see in Harden, P.G. Luka Booker, etc...

What sets him apart is his ability to do everything with his left that he can do with his right (ambidextrous) . Along with shooting, athleticism, and great passing vision.. easily one of the hardest guys to guard in nba history, but he was missing the most important factor of them all.. health , if only he had good knees. Same with oden
