    My mother was very sick when this first came out, suffering from some very bad effects of liver cirrhosis at the time, and she was in and out of the hospital and very hard to take care of. When I had some free time to myself, I would often just sit my character in some pretty area overlooking that main river running through the zone, over the waterfalls, and just listen to the music to unwind. Every now and then, I'll boot up that character just to fly back to that same spot and listen to this. To this day, hearing this music brings me to a peaceful place mentally that helps me unwind some, and I can see that serene river below me.

      @@okay.1336 Hey there my friend. Unfortunately she passed away a year and a half ago due to complications of liver disease. Was driving several states away to get there when it went downhill and missed her passing by two hours. She was fine and then everything just kinda failed within 48 hours. Was a rough time, but I still come back to this song to remember better times. C'est la vie, I suppose.

Our prime time was when wotlk was the current expansion. This song reminds me so much of those days and him. I'd like to think that he is in Azeroth somewhere, waiting for me to join him. I started playing WOW in 2019 (yesterday, basically) and I still enjoy the videogame (both Classic and retail). I came here just to listen this music that I found so melodic, beautiful and awesome. But after reading all the comments, I realize that WOW isn't "just a videogame". For a lot a people it meant friendships, youth, love, family, memories...
    So, even if you're still playing it or not, if this music reminds you of someone loved (who still may or not be with us), of more pleasent years or you just enjoy the tune... cheers, thank for the moments of joy that you share or shared in WOW. And I hope you are happy wherever you are, my fellow heroes...

    Listening to this piece now reminds me of my old friend and guildie. I knew her for years, but only knew her by her toon name. She liked to keep her online life separate from offline because of a bad experience in her past, but I considered her a real friend. Three years ago, a couple of other friends from the guild told me she had Stage 4 melanoma, detected purely by accident. I chatted with her on our forums for a while (during Mists of Pandaria; I stopped playing). The same friends told me that she'd been rushed to the hospital later that summer. No one has heard anything from her since. We are pretty certain she died. Her prognosis was not good, and it is just not like her to fail to be in touch or pop up in game. I wish I could contact her family to tell them how much we liked and respected her, how much her online friendship meant to us all. We raided all the way through this entire expansion together, from our first feeble attempts at Archavon to our Lich King kill. The game, and Northrend, will always make me think of her.

      I've had so many friends like that over the years. Close connections, deep conversations, with that wall of unreality between us. Nevertheless, the fondness, the kinship, the real love for another, persists. Sometimes, they have been the one to mysteriously disappear. Other times, it was me. People can trash WoW for a thousand different mechanical reasons, but it's the humanity... toonanity? that keeps me interested. (The only thing keeping me out of the game right now is technology. Need a new PC.)

    When I started playing with my boyfriend five years ago I loved the music, but when I made it to Grizzly Hills this song ruined me.
    I knew right away if and when I get married I wanted to walk down the aisle to it.
    In three weeks I will be walking down the aisle toward my best friend, that same boyfriend, with this very song playing (at 1:52-ish). It is what I am looking forward to the most about the whole day. It will also be the nerdiest thing I have ever done, and I've done some rather nerdy things.

    My girlfriend started playing WoW with me while i was in college as a way to interact and hang out more. Come Wrath we were out of our noob stage and hitting our prime, spent many hours grinding alts and gearing them for raids throughout northrend. We would spend alot of time just hanging out in grizzly hills just for the music and scenery.
    3 years ago this played during our wedding ceremony. I will never forget that day, this song, or even that place, even if one of them isn't real.

    For me this song is attached to two of my most happiest memories in my whole life, one was when I went to Yosemite for the first time, I had never been in a place like that before and it was also the first time I saw a snowfall, on the last day I was just walking back to the Cabin after a long hike and this song played in the perfect spot.
    Second, after a long story I ended up being alone in a beach in the Island of Providencia, watching the sunset in a one of the most beautiful white sand beaches and there was no one in that place, I just enjoyed it while the song again popped in the perfect moment.
    For me this song is far beyond just a nice piece on a game, it is forever the song that reminds me of very warm memories.

    Memories of my best gaming experience ever. It honestly doesn't feel like it's been so long ago. It's unreal how fast time has went by and how fast things can change. I started at the end of BC and played until mid Mists. Nothing ever compared to the experiences I had during WotLK. The Lich King was truly the end game boss.

    I've just gone through the breakup of my little family. The absence of my twin 2 year old daughters is painful. I couldn't remember the melody, just the emotional impact of the music and flew to grizzlemaw and cried.
    I did the same thing many years ago when my friend died. There's something about this that connects with that part of us that copes with trauma that's too much. The box you put it in while you deal with your life while it's happening to you.
    It feels like in those moments when the battles are over, when there's nothing left to do, once all the words have been said, the music can open it up, and take just a little bit of the pain out.
    Bless you all, if you're still reading then you're likely feeling the same, let your pain go and fill the future with light.

      Please, don't you ever worry. Don't you ever doubt that there are others who feel those feelings. Please, please don't ever doubt that there are those of us who feel the full brunt of that pain and anguish. The stories lived and told in these games help to qualify and quantify our lives, so much so that the effect they have on us is real and raw and visceral. Great music always shares the same burden; to beckon those that hear it to pause, and simply wait.

      To the 13 peaople that have liked this comment at the time of writing, and the 4 people who have sent responses to this.
      4 years later, I have kept the sentemant I felt, in that time of desperation when i wrote this, it was just a week after it all happened, and I have held on to it, in almost every moment of my life thats followed. I remember writing this. I've used the love and determination that i felt in that moment as a sword to fight back against all of the people who would have had us broken apart to solidify and strenthen our little family beyond any possible threats.
      We live a life now as secure, peaceful and beutiful as I had always hoped. And we're all happier than ever. It cost us so much money, and time, and my twin girls have paid more than I have, but we're together, theyre 6 now, and we could never have achieved it by fighting with hate or anger. We will never look back. This had a happy ending. Thanks guys.

    This piece is a reenactment of what kind of serene beauty humans are able to reach. This is the very place we come from. This is the womb speaking directly to our hearts. This is home telling us it's always waiting deep within our chambers. It is my belief that no one is a stranger to it. Every single being here knows this place. Even if they don't. Even if they try to run as far away from it as they can muster, they will never be able to escape it, because it's always right where they are. Right here. Now.
    This musical endeavour yells that story from beyond the veil of my walls of thought doing their best to prevent me from going to where these melodies come from.
    The good news is, these melodies shatter those walls and remind me where I need to be...
    ...home.

      It is thoroughly Celtic. Good ear. They are called Uilleann Pipes. They are mentioned in the liner notes of the CD as well. The soundtrack to Riverdance is loaded with them if you want to hear more (And CZcams, of course).

      Starcraft 2, Cataclysms revamped zones (like Elwynn, Plaguelands, etc.), and MoP all have great tracks. Diablo 3 I'm disappointed with compared to Diablo 2 and WoD is yet to be determined.

    • @writershard5065
      @writershard5065 Před 9 lety

      ***** WoD has some great tracks, some ridiculously loud tracks and some tracks that just feel like noise after a while. So not too bad.

    • @Stormsong93
      @Stormsong93 Před 9 lety

      Writer Shard I didn't really enjoy most of Draenors tracks. Some were good, but compared to previous expansions they all were better in my opinion. WOTLK still tears me up.

    • @writershard5065
      @writershard5065 Před 9 lety

      ***** Eh. In the end it really depends on perspective. I love Talador's music, as well as Nagrand's music, especially the night ones. Shadowmoon valley and Frostfire Ridge has some pretty sweet music too. And also the music of the seas. The rest are either too loud, or okay.
      In WotLK, the best music really is from Howling Fjord and Grizzly Hills (And Storm Peaks, Dalaran and maybe Crystalsong). Icecrown had some good tracks, but the rest are really pretty normal.

    • @elementSe34
      @elementSe34 Před 8 lety

      +Writer Shard I really like WoD's music, even if many tracks get reused in some places, and stuff from HFP was used in HFC, which was actually a nice touch.

    Never knew the name of this song, gave up looking for it for a while. I remember camping the translucent bear pet for my hunter. I actually love this song. Anytime I had a free moment to fly to Grizzly Hills I would go just to listen to my favorite song in WoW. Still gives me a sense of peace after just listening to it for the 1st time in a couple of years! WOTLK was the best! Great times and memories with that expansion!
