That is the best quote I ever heard in my 58 years. Thankyou
“Now that’ll wake you up”
I approve this message! Lol
brought a tear to my eyes
*Instead of...
No other sound like a high winding American V-8 launching off the starting line and power shifting down the full quarter mile with a 4 speed stick. MUSIC TO ANY GEARHEADS EARS!!!
WOW, i second that!!!!
Absolutely! I as well remember the days of Power shifting a Muncie or Saginaw 4 speed that was hooked up to a V-8. Sunoco 260 or Amoco White Gas straight out of the pump at the local gas station! Good Day Everyone!
Agreed
Hell to the YESSS !!!!
Shut up you idiot.
When he launched i even leaned back a little. 😂
😂😂😂😂😂...i grab the phone to keep the car straight 😂😂😂
Tuner: what rpm do you want you launch set at
Driver: all of them
6320hp ?
Sounds like a snowmobile
I bought the whole tach im gonna use the whole tach
@@tommys2979 haha....
That was incredible. My hats off to whoever built the bottom end of that thing! Sheer poetry in motion. I think I got teary eyed.
That dude can shift!!!!
Rick Chapman, thank for that! That is a huge compliment.
@@mtocycle you are welcome
that ain't no lie.
@@mtocycle take no prisioners
I played this video a second time just to watch his feet. Yeah folks, This how it should be done...
Can't do s**t but smile when I watch this!!!
Man... Last time I've heard a 10,000 rpm launch was Bill Jenkins Pro Stock 1972 ✅ Impressive
Bob Glidden did regularly with Clevelands
Slamming gears!! Thank you for the great ride along!
The sound of a screaming small block Chevy.
Amen💪
You shifted so fast and clean that I legit thought you had some weird Powerglide variant with four gears until I saw your foot. Props to you, jesus.
Lenco air shifter ?
@mikemoore5929 Absolutely not. Rules say no verti-gate or inline shifter, must be H pattern and must use clutch every shift.
@@davidkeeton6716 Yep He Is GOOD & Actually Part Of His car!!! Which is What Is Needed!!!
One of the best realistic launches I've saw, just like being there, great video, thanks.
What a spinwheel ?
I googled your race car, funny thing, my dad had a white '58 impala "lead sled" he called it. Claims it had a 348 w/ 3 deuces and a 4 spd. He used to cruise K St in Sacramento in the late 50s early 60s. I think he knocked up my mom in the back seat lol
Can we get a pin to the top!?!?👍
You never hear much about the 348
@@tl5108 no ya sure dont, old W blocks, 348 was little brother to the 409
And that's how I met your mom🚦🏁🔙🔚
@@elsey1976 I'm pretty sure when Richard petty picked his wife up for their first date it was in his 40s/50s stripped down race car and she had to sit on a milk crate
he shifts faster than an automatic transmission LOL
dude is shifting slower than me on a sequential, not even powershifting
and supposedly faster than a dct ?
Matthew Fogarty playing the keyboard warrior card this early ?
i was simply stating that shifting on a traditional manual cant be faster than "automatics" which in modern times usually means optimized DCTs
and yes, ive have touched a sequential before
in fact ive used quite a few
to go one step further, i drive with a sequential daily
@@DarkIzo not faster than a a dual clutch but pretty close to a regular automatic. My comment is a joke so chill down
Potatoes and Trucks its alright, no heated discussion goin on here
back in my time stick vs auto was THE discussion; which is/could be faster
afaik automatic transmission only consistently were faster than manuals since around the early 2000s. installing shortshifters, forcing that stick into neutral while still accelerating, nailing thst clutch timing, and slightly dragging the dragging/power shifting was our topic back in the day (some even went clutchless for that extra time but rip synchros). im glad i get to use a dogbox, i feel like a high performance driver when getting those 50ms shifts, even if its a 50kph 4-5

lol Dude, we can't have such things in Germany over here & it's amazing to see/hear something like this. Awesome work & very, very nice shifting!! Well done, Brother. American Muscle all day.
what the hell are you talking about you cant have things like this ?
I just had about the 3rd worst day of my life. Watching this made me smile. 😁 Thank you!
Yahoo!!! That thing hooks up and sounds awesome!!! Thanks for the ride along.
Every one of us starting the video had the same thought... "10k my ass" every one of us had the same ending thought... "so that's what 10k sounds like" 😂😂
hahaha
Yep You Can Hear That High & Still Wonder is it 10?
🤯 Holly crap! Never get use to that sound. Can't give enough thumbs up! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
White knuckle ride there. I'm wiping the sweat off my palms just watching.
I don’t know about the rpm but I didn’t expect that, damn.
You kidding? That is revving higher than a NASCAR motor, and they clear 9k rpm easily.
Sounds like a f1 race common now.
@@dilfonicz id love to know what you think about the 12k rpm nova then lol. Do you know about destroking engines?
Can't you hear how high it revved?
@@theholydarkpope6972 i agree
Sounds like 1 o'clock in the morning on a back road with a bunch of guys having a time! Miss those days!
The pure sound and just seeing this brought tears to my eyes. Thank you
That is so bad ass, I love my big blocks but man nothing sounds like a small block at rpm. Can't wait to finish my 392 hemi.
Your hemi makes some wonderful sounds. Have fun.
Go Pro Stock. Get the best of both worlds.
Putting a 354 in a 36 Ford 😎 love the old Firepower Hemi !!
@@loganshotrod4x464 ran one on the street before I could afford a muscle car. Not much success till I bought a B&M adapter to put a late aluminum case T-flite on it. Vinnie Tarrantola made me a 10" that brought that car to life!! About 3800 stall in a 59' Fury HT.
Mr39036ce: oh, hell yeah! WILCAP made an adapter too, I had a couple of those with 66-71 Torqueflites. My 36 is getting an 833 4 speed & ive never ran one behind an early Hemi, but I’m sure it can be done...
Love the sound of power shifting since i started doing it in summer of 1970. Still do it on my motorcycle. 69 years old..
WITH A STOCK STEERING WHEEL ....OMG you are a beast sir!! Bravo to you on a fine build and clearly a hell of a drive!
My favorite Chevies were 58, 60, &63. Love it.
When your kids don't ask,
Are we there yet 🤓🚦🚀🏁🇺🇸
AND,THIS IS HOW YOU SHIFT!!!! Awesome video! Great memories for old schoolers. 👌
Not all of us can know what it feels to race at a drag strip. I do! I wasn’t in the 9’s or lower but I was in the 11’s and in the 70’s wasn’t bad. My heart was racing the first pass then after the second passi was bang shifting every gear. I felt alive. I felt BAD!!!
that's awesome
That's the best thing I've ever seen or heard in my life!
Been there, did that in the late sixties. 42 pound flywheel, 272 cubic chevy 55 gasser. Oh what memories this brings back. Thanks !
Dayna Rasco -you know how much fun I’m having then for real!
WOW! Goosebumps. Loved it!
I thought that looked like a real good light. Awesome!
You had my attention when i seen 10,000 rpm
And cut a .01 light. Seriously? Capps leaves early about every 8 1/2 seasons.. like THIS guy.
This is phenomenal! It just hooked and booked ! And that small block scream 🤤
This thing is so rad, been getting into watching southeast gassers lately and this is my favorite car that ive seen so far. Would love to see a walk around build breakdown of it
Who doesnt love a gasser , these things will be in the car scene for YEARS to come.
Keepem turn in pops sounds GOOOOOD
Never was a Chevy lover BUT that is one heck of a machine
This video gave me chills..bad ass!!! Very impressive shifting
Wow! Love the gassers high rpm launches
Wow that was awesome! That’s the fastest any pair of Converse sneakers ever went I imagine! Good Day Everyone!
This like Jimi hendrix playing the star spangled banner at Woodstock, are the two most beautiful things I've ever seen or heard.
Best sound I've heard all week
I keep returning here for years , whenever I need another hit.
That sound makes love to my ears ...So awesome
I agree about playing in school after Our National Anthem. Holy moly that’s a beautiful sound. May God Bless.
I love that noise! Thanks!
My three-year-old loved this video😎 Please make more gotat raise him right 💖🇺🇸👍
That is a badass ride ! Love it
I would have to straighten that steering wheel! Impressive car!
From how violent the launches are in that car I don't think it matters where the steering wheel is pointed.
Skeeter McSwagger Just knowing it wasn't right would bother me. I guess I am a perfectionist.
@@SLJ2137694 or OCD.....🥴
Skeeter McSwagger Nope, just 33 years working for General Motors Product Service Engineering!
@@SLJ2137694 LOL! I was just messing with ya!!! 😉
Love to see the specs on the engine. It sounds so good!!!!!
I can’t stop watching this video !!
Had to come back and rewatch this it's that amazing lol.
I think I heard a rod or two screaming for help! Great video!
I’m not sure what is better, hitting the gas or slapping some a _ _ !! Man I miss the adrenaline rush sitting at the tree! The smell of burning rubber and sweet smelling gas! It doesn’t get any better than that. Thank you for the ride along!
That sound is divine!
Holy. Crap.
Mans shifting like a man too!
What a massive win all around.
This car is BADASS. Love the Chucks.
thanks for the ride
Love the bright red change light, I guess it comes on as a reminder to shift rather than a " you must shift" 👍
Great smoothness in shifting !
Makes me crave the days of old!
How in the world does that thing hold together! Awesome.
Awesome from Australia I love Chevy's
just bought one of your tees at Knoxville bad ass car
Melody Andes -Thank you so much. We love that Ol Double XX.
High 5 to your engine builder.. hold smokes
now that sounds bad ass!!
Beautiful, just beautiful, sniff sniff!!!
I can almost smell the exhaust. Love it
Well daggum, thought i was watching Two Lane Black Top.
Love that movie
Awesome driving! So awesome!!!
Good lord this sounds amazing
that tach was PEGGED the entire run! I don't thin it moved down any past the launch
Oh yeah , feels and sounds like I'm inside for the ride!
That motor hit that same 10,000 RPM note 🎵the Pro Stock cars of today launch at. Music to my ears!
Now that takes me back to the early seventies on carling avenue in Ottawa Ont, Friday and Saturday nights 😊
Ah, good old floor it and "side-strep" the clutch.
If we could only feel it pressing our backs against the seat
Jimmy, I think you misspelled SLAMMING. :)
@@dasworkshop4967 my bad agreed 👍
That is a thing of beauty!
Thats the way you Do it !!!!
I definitely wasn't expecting that! Wow
love 58 chevy's ... very impressive !!!
That was Great! Enjoyed the ride along. Would like to see a replay with a view from the grandstands.
Music! Pure music!
All of hell stood at attention for that pass!
Now this is music to my ears. I respect.the never lift.
That just sounds bad ass as hell
That was one hell of a ride.
What a beast...love it!
Nice sound and launch
Brutal and beautiful too
Reminds me of my childhood trips to the grocery store with grandma. She was always in a hurry.
GOD that sounded great !!!!
Story time: You’re a cocky 16 year old gen z high schooler in your brand new V6 Camaro that dad got for you last summer, you’ve got a pedal commander, fence post straight pipes, you even got an autozone cold air intake, You call it “The V8 killer”
It kills minivans, Toyota RAV4s, Scion TCs, you even beat a moving van once.
You’re the king of the streets until “that night”
You were out joy riding on a crisp October night, enjoying the sound of your straight piped a$& trumpets echoing through the vacant roads, You make sure to click your paddle shifter with the minus sign whenever you go by houses so everyone knows you have the biggest peener around.
Suddenly, There’s a redlight ahead with an old car idling, You can see the silhouette of a beaded old man behind the drivers seat, As you get closer you can feel something in the back of your mind telling you to leave him be.
But you know your 310rwhp maro can beat 2002 mustangs with ease so you put your gear selector from D to N and rev all the way to 3000rpm before the rev limiter kicks in
The old man slowly turns towards you, All you can make out is a menancing grin on his face in the dark car, It’s almost as though he was anticipating you to challenge him.
Are… are his eyes glowing?
It must be a trick of the light
You feel a sense of dread wash over your body, you can’t tell where the danger is but your subconscious is telling you to flee, hide, run
Your chest constricts, it’s like you’re suddenly at the top of a roller coaster drop, you want to get off, your mind is screaming “stop, get off, abort!”
You can see the old man’s left hand grip the steering wheel firmly, his right on some weird looking gear selector
The light turns green when suddenly his old car unleashes a demonic roar unlike any V8 you’ve heard before, Suddenly… 1:32
This IS the Pledge of Allegiance!
That was some good driving!
I didn't see his foot leave the floor once. What a boss.
5:13’s and a small c.i., small block ... Nothing sweeter. .. Excellent presentation. ..
