2024 Miracle Kid: Aubrey Scott

At five months old, Aubrey Scott of Danville, Pa., was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1, a disease that made it difficult for her to breathe. Thanks to funding from Children’s Miracle Network, Jonathan Spahr, MD, a Geisinger pediatric pulmonologist, started Aubrey on gene therapy. The treatment drastically improved her quality of life, and she is now doing things that most children with SMA cannot.
