For your alignment bars, instead of swinging them under you, you should have them swing out to either side. That way if your alignment gets messed up, they will automatically re-center you on the other pole from any angle. One of the arms would contact before the other, and just start rotating you to be facing the right direction.
Loved the differing objectives for the noob and pro, made for an exciting race and anyone's game. While balance is tricky it'd be great to see more of this in the future.
@@THESLlCK I don’t understand how someone can not like Factorio (I’m not blaming you for anything, I’m just another person who just says their opinion)
Awesome challenge idea to switch between two poles while climbing and a great vehicle to do it with! A full auto version (with a slightly easier color coding of the poles) would be really interesting. ... or go to next level: four poles (in four colors, a "change now" section's color tells you which color to go to) and you're allowed horizontal wheel to rotate around your current pole for repositioning for the change.
1. I love your build music. 2. Thank you for nor not having an ad in this one. I know its necessary to keep going in this industry, but i appreciate your content. Honestly I'd watch 5 ads an episode to keep you going.
Honestly, Kan, at some point I would just write the order of what I have to press, to transfer, so I can just pres the buttons without even looking at the screen, but still continue. And I mean both the sequence to move up, and the sequence to switch poles. Afterwards, with some logic with timers, and a sensor to detect the color of the pole, you could fully automate it. Idea: The same thing, but instead of simply clamping, have it also roll like a wheel, while going up. So you clamp down, extend up, clamp up, unclamp down, unextend up, rotate the bottom to be top, and repeat with the up and down being now upside-down.
Oh man, what a challenge. All those buttons would make my head spin 🤢. Could you not link up actions so that you don't have to press so many buttons? Love these challenge vids Kan!
I actually really like the Noob v Handicapped Pro format. Doesn’t have to be every challenge but def bring it back semi-regularly. Having it be not a foregone result is a nice change. Edit: also a good time to say - How in the HELL do we not yet have the ability yet to put a simple 6-10character label on anything with a connection node and for said label to display on the number bar in the case of buttons/switches? >.
Happy birthday kAN!!! I just saw kosmos message where he said that you have birthday. I hope youre not mad that Im almost 1 day late for wishing. I live in Europe so the time is completely different.
kan no to automate it you should have 3 buttons; 1. to get on, 2. to climb, and 3. to transfer and just alternate between them. That way it takes the human error out of it while still maintaining full control.
idea: noob vs pro on vehicles powered by suspension glitches, basically you're only allowed to use suspension glitches or glitches in general for propulsion
Noob vs Pro AI challenge. You both have to create an automated car that can race around a track (Like the train challenge, the tracks would not interfere with each other and would be side-by-side). In order to make it fair for Dapper, kAN's track would either have a bunch of extra obstacles in the way or would have more turns and/or inclines and declines. I figure since Dapper hasn't done a huge amount with logic and sensors, it would be interesting to make something entirely based on logic and sensors.
Next time you make a climber, maybe try to get the claw go over each other instead of stopping them really close. You optimize the travel distance per clamping. A bit like you alternate legs when you walk and don't leave one in the back and the other in front
Kan, you could have colored each piston or arm or bearing to ROYGBIV in order of 1234567 for the buttons. So you could know what buttons to push. So basically button 1 was ‘red’, button 2 was ‘orange’ and so on. And button one cordinated to the red bearing or piston and button two was coordinated to the orange button or piston.
Maybe not a noob vs pro idea, but a science video testing grip/traction of vehicle tires and parking brakes would be awesome. Ex: Boots for grip on parking brakes with heavy vehicles on hills Bearingless wheels for parking brake Stacked wheels, like dualies or more 6 or 8 axle vehicles for traction Super heavy vehicles with different suspension for grip I'm sure you'd have better ideas to add that I wouldn't think of
The regular NvP where the redemption round, the Noob gets to choose to change their creation and redo the challenge, or keep their current creation and the Pro has a slightly harder challenge, like this one was set up.
Kan! You should change it up so the pro declares the challenge but the noob declares what block the pro can’t use. In this challenge if you both had the same pole but you couldn’t use pistons, you would really have to rub your brain cells together to win
a few improvements i'd suggest: double up the grabers and put a piston on the bottom grabber so you can pull on one pole and pusch on the other and stay centered durring the transfear
You should build an enclosed tractor trailer and forklift for a challenge(either multiplayer Monday or NvP) and there are stations where you take off your forklift and load cargo into the trailer.
Just an idea. have you ever thought about having the "pro" build and then let the noob see the build. not inspect, no connection tool, no seeing it operate, and maybe just for a short period of time
Do a copy challenge. Apparently dapper was very capable of seeing what you built and then was able to replicate it without much challenge. So that should be the next challenge. Each create a creation and the other has to replicate it in some fashion.
The alignment arms should rotate in the horzontal plane. That way they would automatically correct the position. Now I'm not even 1/3 into the video, so watch him say that further in.
I love these challenges. Might be showing my lack of experience here, but why not have both the top and bottom grabbers extend/retract? Wouldn't you get twice the distance per grab?
A good challenge would be if you did something but lacked testing. Like if you are racing boats then you have no water to test.(and you would have to make it look like a boat not some water bug)
You know it would be smart for the developers to add A series of events in the controller so basically you push a button and 3 things happens at once but you can delay them so it automotive and goes in order from the first thing to the second to the third and so on. Or kan could have just wrote down on a piece of paper the order he needs to push the buttons and how to flip without messing up
with the way you started having a seat in the middle i thought you was going to build one with claws on each side just to where you stayed in line and just clamp and go up one side at a time using 1 set of claws on 1 side then when you got up clamp on the other side lol
Difficulty Balanced Noob V Pro? How about the irregular wheel racing (no wheel is the same size as another) but kAN's got to not only have differing wheel sizes, he's got to build 3 of his wheels out of 3 different materials. Just a suggestion.
Should have amended the rules to state you can not make vertical progress using powered wheels. A horizontal wheel or one in each claw would have given him the ability to rotate around the pole.
Noob v pro hubris edition. my observation is kan needed a much more solid clamping mechanism he spent alot of time adjusting and settling after each move that cost him huge time.
For your alignment bars, instead of swinging them under you, you should have them swing out to either side. That way if your alignment gets messed up, they will automatically re-center you on the other pole from any angle. One of the arms would contact before the other, and just start rotating you to be facing the right direction.
Good point. But I was also surprised how much the bars opened. They could have had them open just enough to loosen it's grip with the same effect.
I'm just gonna prepare my inventory

Kan, are you an engineer irl, you're very mechanically minded, and I can't help but notice your very utilitarian build style

He said something in one of vids that he is a engineer irl just don’t remember what type

Barely started watching. Fantastic challenge idea! good music today, just hit 👌
Dapper absolutely increased his piston speed after he fell.
I love that kan continued this series aftwr kosmo stopped being a noob
Next up is to make a full automatic pole climber of his new climber
this was actually a good idea to make your challenge a bit harder than dappers. hopefully you can do more like these!

Good format, I like the pro challenge being a bit harder.
I think if you had extended the top arm up while doing transfers you could have won easily.
This music is so great and it has some awesome content to go with it 😄

A good idea would be to color coordinate the switches with the part that it moves.
Maybe one of the things to make it harder on yourself is to make something full automated against whatever Dapper makes.
That was insane - great, but insane! 🤣
How you come up with some of this. I really dont know.
The alignment arms should rotate in the horzontal plane. That way they would automatically correct the position. Now I'm not even 1/3 into the video, so watch him say that further in.

I'm curious if you could use wedge blocks and suspension to ratchet your way up the pole instead of clamping on it.
This is actually a better idea, kAN. The pro should do more than the rookie to make it cool and intense.
this was too much of a disadvantage xD
