There’s nothing I like more than watching someone work who is really good at their job. I don’t care what line of work it’s in. It’s incredible to think that every tree on every load they produce gets drug up behind that skidder.
I work at Tigercat and I build the Booms and Front Blades for these Machines. They are the best product I have ever worked with!! Extremely Durable!! It's great to actually see one at work!! Great job guys!!
Amazing footage sir. Thank you sincerely for the daily videos. It helps getting the day in order .
Be safe. God bless America and people like you folk.
I could watch that skidder pull logs all day everyday. She puts in a hard working day everyday, just crazy how truly reliable that machine is even with the technology we have today it's unreal Tim
That's was cool getting to see the 635 pulling up through that gulley.
Awesome video Tim, love watching that 635 run, Chad can make her sing that's for sure, man when it rains it pours, hopefully things get better so y'all can get some new paint in the woods, love seeing them machines run, thanks for sharing Tim, keep moving forward. 🚜🌲💪🌳
Great video Tim love watching the 635
A 6 wheeled skidder is probably one of the coolest things mankind ever come up with.
Well looky there! Y'all do have a few hills down there in 'ol Miss.
Great video 👍 Tim,man when rains it pours.
We had the same problem on a 280 prentice knuckleboom, first the turbo, then a piston. Machine and engine had 19k hours on the clock. Bought reman 5.9 from local cummins dealer and it failed in 1200 hours. Tore down the motor and 3 cylinders were bored .050 and other 3 were stock, rod failure from imbalance was the cause. We ate the $8500 for the reman plus overhaul cost. Be careful when y'all purchase an engine for that tigercat. Good luck from east TN!
A crappy reman and no warranty huh? That does suck
We’re in same boat. Both our 234’s have 20000 hours on them and all our chipper are on their last breath. It’s hard to find several hundred thousand laying around though so we’re just making do. Great vid!
Good stuff Tim, ye are getting a fair battering on repairs this weather:(:)
That 635 is a work horse for sure!!
If it’s a 6.7 that’s good those motors are everywhere.
Looks mean with them tires!🤘
Morning Tim. Great video today. It's a shame you are having as much trouble as you are having. Stay safe. Cheers
That cummins still sounds good
Great Video!!!💯👍🏻💯❤️
I believe it’s about time to go get y’all some new machines Tim
Breakdowns are what finally put me out of business. I liked my old truck so I just kept driving it till it was starting to break me. I decided to trade it off but the cost of even later model used trucks had gone up so much I couldnt trade. You either have to upgrade every 3 or 4 years or you get left behind. Good luck Tim.
Now that's what I call a really rough week for you all what with big breakdowns, little in the way of output and income AND I guess your looking at some massive repair bills!!
Best wishes.
love to see one of these in the swamps in Northern Ontario!! looks like it be way better then a 648L
She sounds good 👍
Sounds like she’s getting tired. Hopefully all of the bad luck is getting over at one time for y’all. Y’all keep digging. TDK seems like a great team. Rock Steady.
That 635 is a pullin hoss, sorry about the hard troubles with your machine your having Tim hope its gets better for ya buddy
Looks like the tracks work good.
I hope you guys luck turns for the better soon
Excelente gracias
I love to hear this track squeaking I miss that
Our 635D was smoking the same way, it turned out to be the hydraulic tank breather dripping on to the exhaust after an overfill.
Hopefully luck is on your side this time.
boy she's a beast tim ! reman aint to bad price , good luck buddy !
The sound of that saw
My back hurts at just the thought of pulling off panels... I feel for ya brother
Well, that deer stand is kind of in a bad place now. 7:17. LOL
Not the way I hunt deer. :)
IMPRESSIVE! 6.7L Cummins pulling that kind of weight up that steep incline. Thanks
Now he’s thinking, staging the load and working smarter, beat sitting home with no pay while the skidded is in the shop
I ran tracks on the front wheels of my JD 648, definitely soaked up a lot of power, also wondered how much more strain it put on my running gear, I mostly was pulling wood away from my yarder so I was on a haul road or fairly flat skid trail, those tracks slowed down my turn time.
Yep, definitely got some blow by on the old Cummins, damn.
Skidder engines live in a tough environment. The heavy pulling lugging them down is so much harder than in a cutter or loader! 10k plus is pretty good. The first 635 my boss had came with an 8.3 Cummins but it wasn’t turned up anymore than the 6.7 that came later. It did burn more fuel.
We have an old auto car with a big cam 400 Cummins in it. The turbo brings an organism to the ear.
Gettin some good drags comin up the hill with the 635 she is snorting and smokin hope it don’t break down on ya she is a food machine
It's not logging if something not breaking down. Hang in there tim things definitely get better.
Basically what you're saying is I can just hook up some tongs on my 6.7 hemi and come work for y'all???😂
Great video I love anything to do with the 635. Are you gonna be doing any more hunting and trapping videos in the future?
the blowby may be smoke that is getting into the moter throue the turbo oil return line. bad tubro.
Yeesh, first watching the video I thought it was an exhaust leak as well, but the sound was off didn’t sound like an exhaust leak. When he said blow by I was cringing. Best of luck.
You shoulda made the auction trip to FL, w Dirt Perfect, Wade and the boys, they woulda made you a "big star in the movies", haven't stopped by in a while. Take care
Sad to hear you're having all kinds of issues at once with the equipment. That 6.7L hasnt had an easy day in its life so 10k+ hrs on it is pretty good. You would be surprised how long one of those will run with higher than normal blow by.
It’s been a workhorse
You mentioned pressure coming off motor working hard then , has the crazy weather down there made things difficult
I would work on getting a 6.7 block overhauled and ready to drop in, you’ll have to throw your injection pump and front cover on it if you use one from a truck, couple other things, may be best to just get the correct application ready and on a pallet, waiting on a rainy day , should be a quick swap.,
The 6.7 industrial has the gear train on the rear and the 6.7 in the Ram has it in the front.
I like it
That 635 has done its fair share of work. Think of the money that did has made
Just curious when you cut trees do you come back and pull the stumps when you clean up your skid roads or do you leave them to rot ?
One helluva hill to pull up.
I'm reminded of driveshaft issues.
Let it be known, breakdowns is universal, you gots equipment you gots breakdowns, all equipment vids could be titled “Running Between Breakdowns”
use a limbing gate at the bottom, no use in dragging tops up the hill
When it rain it pours
I have a question. As far as running the skidder just how rough is it on a fellers body. Does it bounce and slam you around alot? Does the seat you sit in turn or swivel so when you need to look behind you you don't have to break your neck to try and see? Is it hot up in the cab of the machine? I've herd you talk about them having ac b4.
Tim. Would a winch rope Skidder make it any easier pulling uphill?? My only logging experience is with them back in the eighties.
Hey now that John Deere has their 6x6 skidders may be time to talk to Deere about a 968L2. I don't even know if they're on the U.S. market yet
Thats power f yes
THAT OL GIRL HAS GOTTA B THINKIN "WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS" JEEEZZZ!!!!
Can't imagine what the temperature in that turbo gets up to on those pulls.
No hotter than 1375 F
Operating temp
When are you gonna run that brand new 80cc husky? Did I remember that right?
If I may say I have seen when you "turn up" an engine and run them to the max they don't tend to give you the longevity.
I didnt see an older video of yours in which you said Tigercat told you not to run rear tracks before I ade the earlier comment. Curious what it is about the soil there that eats the tracks up? Does it do the same to the tracks on feller, processor and loaders?
How much would you say that "drag" weighs when he gets both bundles of logs? ballpark?
That machine is designed to pull it's just getting wore that all rebuild it or get bigger motor believe me it can handle it's load I'm saw them were I use to work that machine is a beast
That's a load of wood up hill.
How come you dont bring your tigercat 822 out there to process if your having that much trouble with Kevin's john deere?
How much does that tractor cost? and it's so powerful
275hp is about half what it needs!
drives me nuts looking at the strain he puts on that machine. If he took a slightly smaller load he would keep moving and probably achieve more in the long run and your kit would last a bit longer. ust saying ....
More trips, more fuel, more maneuvering, more getting to the place to pull rather than pulling. Maximization per trip is key at the expense of the equipment.
@@mylesswann530 more fuel sure ok🤔. guy just got done talking about all the broken equipment soo yeah I'll take a lighter load every day
@@mylesswann530 so at 12 min they split the load. And combine them at the top.so I guess they agreed with everyone but you
@@lauramurray6690 As long as you don't mind a lighter pay check.
Plus that skidder has 10000 + hours on a motor that hasn't been rebuilt. Dozers and skidders don't tend to get that many hours because the get rull wide open so much. Although they are built to be run that way.
It’s even tougher when you have a nice new piece of equipment broken down, AND a big fat payment to make, keep your stuff duct taped, and bubble gumed together, alway be on the hunt and ready to pull the trigger when something to good to pass up comes along, the absolute worst time to buy equipment is when yours is broken, it becomes way to important to worry about price, or even some expensive problems., I think I would have a look at that Cummins and make sure it’s blow by .. and not something else, check egt’s with a temp gun,
It definitely sounds different not as crisp as before in older videos
Try the Sierras if you wanna see a grade.
if you could i would change the motor, trans, and all of the hyd oil hoses and pumps. my dad always told he would have high parts bill then a new payment that would or couldnt pay for if something were to happen
The company I work for has always operated under the belief that putting parts on is cheap . You can buy a new engine, Hydraulic pump and tranni for less than 6 months payments on a new one. If you look at the property tax ramifications insurance and risk to your company long term buying new only makes sense because you want new .
I hope you guys quit having trouble. It makes a tough job even tougher.
Those harmonic balancers have a short lifetime, the rubber de-laminates and leaves you with a loose pulley that won't drive the belt around. . . .
It's been a good skidder I remember when y'all first got it how many hours on the 635 now
U like those tracks better than chains?
Wouldn't the tracks be more effective if put on the rear tires, where there is likely more weight and ground pressure, as opposed to the front tires, which I would guess are significantly unweighted because of the slope and torque pulling the front end up?
was thinking the same, specially these hills, weight is up front when empty and on flat ground, but hills and a load, id think rear tracks would be best, im sure Tim knows what he’s doing lol, i just wanted to pick his brain on it
HI CT chains on all 6 tires would help pull better if the back tires will pull 2 and a sub low or a grannies low would help U want 2 gear low as U can 2 make pull better 😊OMG 6 22 2O23
The tactor is over loaded
Pulls like that will kill it eventually.
10k hrs still going
😳
Get rid of the tracks on the front and run bogie tracks on the back. We have a 625 and run on steep ground... night and day difference.
What mill are you hauling into currently?
John deere wouldn't have even tried to come up out of that bottom the new ones may have
That grapple so big , blows my mind. So the motor goes out on the 635 y'all will a new motor in it or rebuild it?
Would be quite a bit faster to just put a new engine in it. Downtime is expensive. Rebuilt or New... that's the real question.
True
How many tons to a drag with that 635?
Pretty sure your engines breath dust over filter those fields, so it go bad condition.
Tim, when the 635 engine finally says "I'm done", are you going to go with a rebuilt engine, or pony up for New?
New will go in.
@@cotontop3 That's what I would do too. Little more up front, but you know what you're getting.
It’s so much faster in getting the machine back running too.
Is there not a reputable company in your neighborhood that does engine rebuilding that has a exchange basis ?, less money than new .
Would rebuilding that cummins be possible or would it be better to just get a new engine?
We would swap it because building would take a lot more time.
If you have that much Blow by The horse power aint there anymore
whats high hours on these cummins engine ???10-15,000 ?
Just put some new rings in it and send it lol
We're y'all at y'all need a driver I'm willing to move do y'all have ur own trucks
Wow so barely any weight on the front pulling up that hill. So let's put the chains on the front🤔
